00:25Talaga, eh, matagal yung bus stop.
00:26Oo.
00:49Cabotchan Martires or Doc Raph.
00:52Good morning, Doc. Welcome pa sa Rise and Shine.
00:54Good morning sa ating mga makikinig.
00:56Rise and Shine, Doc Raph.
01:04stomach flu?
01:05Actually, diarrhea in itself, hindi siya yung diagnosis yan.
01:09Diarrhea is more of the symptom.
01:37On the other hand, yung tiyatawag nating stomach flu, actually medyo misnomer yun.
01:42Kasi when we say flu, we think of influenza.
01:45But we're actually talking about viral gastroenteritis, which is actually caused by norovirus and rotavirus.
01:54Not really flu, no?
01:56And to them dito sa Pilipinas yun?
01:57Yes, very common naman siya, no?
01:59So, we have viral gastroenteritis, we also have bacterial, and we also have yung protozoa, yung mga amoeba, mga gano
02:06'n.
02:16O, parang siguro twice...
02:17You got some gut problems.
02:30So, yung most infectious diarrhea cases, yung tiyatawag natin na fecal oral transmission.
02:42However, merong isang type ng virus, specifically yung norovirus.
02:47Ang distinction kasi niya, uso dito yung pagsusuka.
02:50So, among those causes ng diarrhea, yung norovirus, kapag sinuka ng patient, pwede mag-aerosolize.
02:56So, yung sukan niya, mapupunta sa hangin.
02:58Pwede ka rin mahawa via that.
03:01And, of course, mas susceptible dito.
03:03Yung mga, mas mahina yung resistencia, specifically yung mga sobrang bata pa.
03:07Yung mga may sakit, may diabetes.
03:09May mga pamatagalang sakit.
03:11Tsaka yung ating mga lolot-lola.
03:13Pero tandaan natin, kahit perfect yung ating kalusugan, kapag tayo na-expose sa ganito,
03:18most likely, tayo mahawa pa rin.
03:21So, it's still best na we practice frequent handwashing.
03:25Ayun.
03:25Okay.
03:34Kasi, I think, sila yung pinaka-most susceptible ones, you'll have this kind of viral gastroenteritis.
03:48Una, yung water source, yung pinag-hugasan, usually yun yung issue.
04:08Pero, madumi pala yung pinaglalagayan.
04:10Ayun.
04:21Actually, no.
04:22Okay.
04:26It's just our body reacting to the infection.
04:30So, kailangan natin ilabas.
04:31May mga certain infectious causes kasi that release toxins.
04:36May endotoxins, may exotoxins, and such.
04:39So, part of the mechanism is kailangan ilabas ang katawan.
04:45yes, it kind of prevents or reduces the diarrhea, yung paglabas.
04:49So, instead of mailabas mo yung mga toxins,
04:51lalo siyang maipon sa katawan, which could lead to complications.
04:54Okay.
04:55What could be the worst case scenarios for people who won't treat itong stomach flu nila,
04:59or the viral gastroenteritis?
05:02Ang most common, of course, is dehydration.
05:04Dehydration can lead to a lot of different things, like shock, sepsis,
05:10no, and pwede rin mahirapan ng puso.
05:13And, syempre, sometimes yung mga simple na sakit,
05:16kapag napabayaan na nag-like, or maling gamot yung ininom,
05:19pwede maging matindi mauwi sa pagka-hospital.
05:22Okay.
05:26Consult early.
05:27Ayun.
05:28Mas maganda talaga,
05:29pumunta na sa hospital para makapagpa-check up.
05:33Siguro mga, kasi minsan parang binibilang yan eh,
05:36nakailang dumi ka na ba, nakailang suka ka na ba.
05:38When's the right time po para pumunta ng hospital?
05:42Well, if yung individual, yung patient ay nasa high-risk group,
05:46for example, buntis,
05:47masyado pang bata, may diabetes, may sakit sa puso,
05:51lolo at lola, dapat agad-agad, as soon as possible,
05:54within 24 hours, no?
05:56Kasi mabilis yan.
05:57And sometimes, we don't really treat the cause itself.
06:00For example, sa viral gastroenteritis, mabilis yun.
06:04Very fast yung onset of symptoms niya, pagsusuka.
06:07So, it might not be the virus as a problem,
06:10kundi yung symptoms which could lead to complications and dehydration.
06:13Look, napumasok lang bigla sa isip ko,
06:15kasi you've mentioned, there are three,
06:17you'll have the viral, bacterial, and then the protozoan.
06:20I know, iba naman si protozoan si amoeba,
06:22pero di ba sometimes you're being diagnosed for amoebiasis?
06:25What's the difference dun sa amoebiasis
06:27versus this protozoan gastroenteritis?
06:30Well, different yung nagkukos nun.
06:38I mean, for the sake of information na din daw,
06:40how could it be different?
06:42Well, different yung actual na nagkukos.
06:45Okay.
06:45Kasi, for example, yung viruses,
06:47they're very different from bacteria,
06:49tapos very different naman si amoeba,
06:51sa mga protozoal infections.
06:53However, sometimes the treatment can be quite similar.
06:56Okay.
06:57It can be quite similar, no?
06:58Usually, ang cornerstone niyan is yung supportive treatment
07:02to reduce dehydration,
07:04and of course, antibiotics and other medications
07:06for the infection itself.
07:08Okay.
07:08Si Doc 24-7,
07:10kaya nga.
