00:00We've never seen a rescue this scared before.
00:03This is Sani.
00:04She's only a baby at 11 months old,
00:06and today we're going to do everything we can
00:08to help her find a little bit of confidence.
00:11And Sani is just one of many terrified dogs we're meeting today.
00:16Go on, it's okay, it's just a mother.
00:19Our goal is simple, to show them that not all humans are bad.
00:25We're visiting Dallas Animal Services,
00:27and the first dog we saw was this one.
00:30Her name is Giselle, and honestly, she chose us.
00:33Before we could even look around,
00:35how could we say no to spending time with her?
00:38One of the workers helped to take her out her kennel,
00:40and we couldn't believe her reaction when we sat down with her.
00:44Hello.
00:46Hi.
00:47Oh my goodness, you're happy.
00:49Hello.
00:51Hello.
00:52So Giselle is four years old.
00:54She came in as a stray,
00:55so sadly she was either dumped by the roadside,
00:58or she escaped and no one came to collect her.
01:00She was just the most loving, friendly dog,
01:02and it didn't take her long to show how happy she is to be out her kennel.
01:26Oh my gosh, she's so soppy.
01:33Oh my gosh, she's so soppy.
01:35It's honestly your loss, because just look at her.
01:39She's actually heartworm positive right now,
01:41so she shouldn't be going so crazy.
01:43Being from the UK, we're not actually that familiar with heartworm.
01:46This graph explains it.
01:48It's basically when a dog gets bit by a mosquito.
01:50She has had treatment though, and is currently spayed.
01:53She's now just waiting for someone to return all the love she has to give.
01:57I think someone could really love her.
01:59I know.
02:00Bless her.
02:00She's really soppy.
02:01Yeah.
02:01And she's got good energy.
02:03Giselle.
02:03And she's affectionate.
02:05She's what?
02:05She's getting bum scratches.
02:10That was a great start to our journey in the shelter,
02:13but this is where it got real.
02:14We were walking around meeting all the dogs,
02:17trying to choose who we wanted to spend time with,
02:19and honestly, it was just a bit too much.
02:22I keep having to take myself out,
02:24because I just need some time to compose myself.
02:27Something about the dogs here, you see, more sad, don't they?
02:33I don't know what it is.
02:35And it looks like there's more like shut down dogs here,
02:38and it's not easy to see.
02:40And the thing that I find hardest about being here
02:42is when we foster dogs,
02:44it's like we can put all of our time and energy into that one dog,
02:47and we can kind of feel like,
02:48well, we can try our best to turn that dog around,
02:50but here, there's just so many.
02:52It's like you see one,
02:54you kind of get attached because it looks sad.
02:56You just go to the next kennel opposite.
02:58You go to the next kennel next to it.
03:00It's like the same story again.
03:04Oh.
03:08But this wasn't about me.
03:10I picked myself up
03:11and went to meet this little baby called Sani.
03:14Sani is only 11 months old
03:16and again came in as a stray.
03:18She's only been at the shelter for a couple of days,
03:21so everything was new to her,
03:23and not surprisingly,
03:24the poor thing was absolutely terrified.
03:33We were trying to get her to the area
03:35we were just in with Giselle.
03:37It was about a 20 meter walk from where we are now,
03:40but this is the hardest 20 meters we've ever done with a dog.
03:44So we were doing everything in her own time,
03:47not forcing her to do anything.
03:48Obviously, we were just standing there filming her,
03:50so she was probably wondering,
03:52what are these weirdos doing?
03:53So I channeled my inner Rocky Kanaka
03:55and tried to introduce myself.
03:58I've got other ones.
04:06I got down to her level,
04:07offered up some treats,
04:09no eye contact,
04:10and let her meet me before I got to meet her.
04:12By the way, we're definitely no experts,
04:15just two people trying to help make a difference.
04:18We then tried to get her moving,
04:20but nothing.
04:21So I got down again
04:22and tried some positive reinforcement
04:24to help get her moving.
04:28Good girl.
04:31She managed to take a couple steps
04:33and then felt brave enough
04:35to really check us out.
04:40Oh, good girl.
04:43Good girl.
04:45Good girl.
04:46Hello.
04:47Oh, no.
04:49Oh, no.
04:50Oh, no.
04:51That's a softy little guy.
04:57She's got the cutest face.
05:00Good girl.
05:02We were trying to take things
05:04really slow and gentle with her,
05:05no sudden movements.
05:07It definitely helped her grow in confidence
05:09because she then started moving.
05:11She's like, yes, please.
05:12Oh, good girl.
05:14Do you want to come follow me for a treat?
05:16Come on then.
05:17Come on.
05:20You can do it.
05:21Good girl.
05:22Good girl.
05:23Good girl.
05:23Yes.
05:24Good girl.
05:27It's okay.
05:28Sorry.
05:30Hello.
05:31Good girl.
05:32What's on?
05:34She was the light behind me.
05:35Bless her.
05:36Come on.
05:37Come on.
05:38You could tell just how new
05:39she was to the shelter
05:41because she wanted to check out
05:42everything that was going on.
05:44We managed to get her around the corner,
05:46took everything super slow,
05:48and then when we were near the finish line,
05:50just hurried up into getting her outside,
05:53and when she got outside,
05:54we couldn't believe her reaction.
05:56Quickly.
05:58Come on.
05:58Good girl.
05:59Good girl.
06:00There you go.
06:02Good girl.
06:03Oh, look how happy she is now.
06:05Yeah.
06:07JJ, you need to take a look.
06:08Hello.
06:09Yeah.
06:10Come on.
06:10Let's take your things quite over one
06:12because it's noisy.
06:13Oh, look how much do that.
06:17She was just a completely different dog.
06:20It's like she was thanking us
06:21for getting her out of there.
06:23It honestly warms my heart
06:24being able to make a difference
06:25in such a small amount of time.
06:27We're usually foster dogs,
06:28and when we get back to the UK next week,
06:30we're going to be getting another foster.
06:33Her name is Bella,
06:34and if you want to be the first to see Bella,
06:36even before anyone on YouTube,
06:38then sign up to our email list.
06:40You'll also be the very first
06:41to know about our merch drop.
06:43Link is in a pinned comment down below.
06:45What's this?
06:46Oh, you in the pool?
06:47Go on, go on.
06:48Sani was so new to the shelter,
06:51she still had time for her owner
06:52to come and collect her.
06:54About a week has passed,
06:55and unfortunately,
06:56it seems like nobody came.
06:58I'm sure she'll grow in confidence
06:59as she spends a bit more time in the shelter,
07:01and hopefully we've helped her do that.
07:03We loved seeing her come out her shell.
07:05Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said
07:07about the next dog we met.
07:08Your turn.
07:12This is Freckles.
07:14She's been in the shelter
07:15for only about a week,
07:16and she was just so scared
07:18and shut down.
07:19Oh yeah,
07:20and there was a Malamute next to her.
07:21He was adorable
07:22and doing all the talking.
07:24Hello, Speaky Boy.
07:26You are huge.
07:30Alpha.
07:31Hello, Alpha.
07:33Are you a big boy?
07:35Our goal is to try and take Freckles out,
07:38but she was so scared,
07:39we had to be really careful with this one.
07:41This might be good just to get her comfortable.
07:43You don't like that one?
07:44Okay.
07:46You like that one?
07:49They don't like that.
07:51Whatever that is.
07:52We started off just by throwing some treats in there
07:55to try and help associate us
07:57with something positive.
07:58Let's try this one, okay?
08:00We're on a mission to help as many dogs as possible,
08:03just like Freckles.
08:04If you could subscribe to join our mission,
08:06that would be amazing.
08:11We were trying some different treats to feed her.
08:13She was stressed,
08:14so I wasn't that interested in them.
08:17I started feeding her and keeping my distance.
08:19You can see here,
08:21when I approached too quickly,
08:22she got a bit frightened,
08:24but was brave enough to come back
08:25pretty much straight away
08:26and even have a sniff of me.
08:34What's she doing?
08:36Sniffing.
08:36She's having a sniff.
08:37Oh, is she?
08:38Yeah.
08:43JJ,
08:45you're making her struggle.
08:47I even got to a point where I was able to hand feed her.
08:50I could tell she was definitely starting to warm up to us,
08:53but she would growl if you went to open her kennel door.
08:56So unfortunately,
08:56we weren't able to take her out.
08:58We didn't want to stress her out too much
09:00and also put any of the workers here in any danger.
09:03I honestly wish we had more time to spend with her,
09:06but hopefully even just this little encounter
09:08has helped her build some kind of confidence.
09:11Oh yeah,
09:12before we show you the next dog,
09:14we passed Sarnie again
09:14and we had to give her some treats.
09:17Gonna treat him?
09:19Here you go.
09:21Good girl.
09:24Hello.
09:26Yes.
09:26You're gonna be fine in here, okay?
09:28You got the cutest face.
09:31Here you come.
09:33This is Rosie
09:34and we're gonna be taking her on a doggy day out.
09:37And although it looks like she's a super confident and friendly girl,
09:40when we took her out,
09:41we saw just how shy she can be.
09:44Come on.
09:45It's okay.
09:46It's just a runner.
09:46Here.
09:48Oh my god.
09:49Oh, aren't you a little lover?
09:51She looks like a lad.
09:52She does,
09:53but she's like kind of small.
09:54Yeah.
09:55Oh, her face.
09:57Look at her little white toes.
10:00Oh my god, that is adorable.
10:04She had her adopt me vest on.
10:06She said one last goodbye to the staff
10:08and it was time to begin our journey.
10:11You fucking like sitting.
10:13See you now, man.
10:17She looks labbed like staff mix, don't you?
10:22We tried to see if she wanted a wee before going into the car,
10:25but nope.
10:26We then tried to get her into the car with a treat,
10:28but nope.
10:29So I had to pick her up to get her in.
10:31Can I pick you up?
10:33Good.
10:34Here, bubba.
10:34Good girl.
10:35Oh, look at her.
10:37She was the biggest stage one clinger in the car
10:40and then we arrived at our first of three stops.
10:44Come on, Rosie.
10:45Come on.
10:45Come on.
10:46It's a bit hot.
10:47It's okay.
10:47There you go.
10:48Good girl.
10:49Good girl.
10:51That was so majestic.
10:53So we're at the Katie Trail in Dallas.
10:55We thought this was going to be nice and easy
10:57because Rosie seemed so confident,
10:59but as soon as we went near a bunch of people,
11:01her confidence faded quickly.
11:04Come on, man.
11:05Come on.
11:06It's okay.
11:07It's just a runner.
11:07Here.
11:08Here.
11:09Come.
11:09Yes.
11:10Good girl.
11:11Come on, man.
11:11Pretty girl.
11:14Daisy, what's this?
11:14She's like friend.
11:15Daisy.
11:16Friend.
11:16What's this?
11:17Yeah.
11:18What's this?
11:18Oh, good girl.
11:20Oh.
11:23She's staring at everyone.
11:25Bless her.
11:26I think she probably thinks she's probably like in her room
11:28and she's watching everyone walk past.
11:31Good girl.
11:32Okay.
11:32It's okay.
11:33Good girl.
11:36Rosie was clearly quite uncomfortable in this situation,
11:39so we stopped off by a bench and let her just take everything in.
11:45We do this a lot with our fosters.
11:47When they seem overwhelmed,
11:49we just take them to the side so they have time to gauge the situation they were in
11:52instead of actually putting them in it yet.
11:54The shelter did mention that Rosie has separation anxiety.
11:58She came in as a stray.
12:00I'll be honest,
12:01we completely fell in love with her.
12:02She was just so affectionate
12:04and you could tell she already started seeing us as her protectors,
12:07even staying between the two of us for comfort at one point.
12:10Oh, there you go.
12:13Wedged in between.
12:15There, there you go.
12:19Is that nice, huh?
12:22Good girl.
12:23Let's try and walk.
12:24Let's see how she is.
12:26We were there for about 15 minutes
12:28and Rosie started showing signs of being more relaxed,
12:31so we tried walking again.
12:32I think she feels safer when she's walking in between us.
12:35Yeah, I think so.
12:36You can stay here if you want, Daisy.
12:38Rosie.
12:38We've been in America for three weeks now
12:41and met so many dogs.
12:42I'm terrible with names
12:43and I kept accidentally calling her Daisy,
12:45so warning,
12:46I do this a lot.
12:47Oops.
12:47Is that my doing a good job?
12:48Good girl.
12:50Oh, yes.
12:52Well done.
12:53That was good.
12:54Oh.
12:54Good girl.
12:57She would look up at us for encouragement
12:58and yeah, honestly,
13:00we just love this dog so much.
13:02Oh, well done.
13:03Rosie.
13:04Oh my God,
13:04I need some point in those.
13:05Come on, Rosie.
13:06Ruby.
13:07Well done.
13:08Yes, good job.
13:09She's already better with bikes.
13:11We would give us some positive reinforcement
13:13with some treats as we were walking too
13:15and she was really starting to get better.
13:18Come on, Brady.
13:18Oh.
13:19Good girl.
13:21Yes.
13:22Good girl.
13:23So her tail's come out a bit.
13:24Her body language looks a bit more open to everything.
13:27Now that she's seen everything,
13:29we're just kind of...
13:30Good girl.
13:30I'm right here.
13:31Good girl.
13:32Yes.
13:32We're kind of just walking along nice and confident.
13:35Come on.
13:36Giving her the confidence
13:37and she's doing really well.
13:39She's already coming out her shell a bit more.
13:41Good girl.
13:43Yeah.
13:44She looks up for a bit of reassurance.
13:46Good girl.
13:47But no more tucked tail.
13:49You're doing very good.
13:51Aren't you?
13:53She's like,
13:53I'm ready to explore now.
13:56Good girl.
13:58We even bumped into another dog
14:00on a doggie day out from the shelter.
14:02We then arrived at our second stop.
14:04We wanted to bring her along with us for a meal.
14:06Oh.
14:08Good girl.
14:10Good girl.
14:12There it is.
14:13Listen, follow in.
14:14Good girl.
14:15Come on then.
14:16We're just having her for a doggie day.
14:18Doggy day care.
14:20She's one.
14:25It was also time for her meal.
14:27And yes,
14:27we did wait a good half an hour
14:28until we fed her
14:29and then waited another good half an hour
14:31before we walked her again.
14:33The food came.
14:35Texas barbecue is amazing by the way.
14:37And Rosie was super chilled out.
14:39Happy to explore
14:40and of course,
14:41wanted fuss and attention.
14:42Oh.
14:43Oh my god.
14:47It's soppy food.
14:50So I just need a pet.
14:52Yeah, you're good girl.
14:55After the meal,
14:56we walked back
14:56and here she really showed
14:58how much confidence
14:59she has already grown
15:00in such a short space of time.
15:02Thank you so much.
15:06Come on then.
15:07Oh, silly girl.
15:10Come on then.
15:11Oh, silly girl.
15:13Oh.
15:15She likes it.
15:16She likes being pet on her walk.
15:17She's only...
15:18I think she's one?
15:19One?
15:19She's one, yeah.
15:20She's one.
15:21Hillary, you're going to be YouTube famous.
15:25Well done.
15:26Oh, I can't see through your hair.
15:28We got her in the car
15:29onto the next stop
15:30and then we arrived
15:31at Uptown Pup.
15:36Good girl.
15:38Good girl.
15:39Hello.
15:41She was amazing
15:42in the pet store.
15:43She got lots of attention
15:44from the staff
15:44and then we let her
15:45pick out some treats.
15:48Yeah.
15:49Oh.
15:51Yeah.
15:52Okay.
15:53Oh.
15:54Good girl.
15:56She's good with her food.
15:57Okay, we had to get her
15:58a new collar too.
16:00Oh, look at her.
16:01That is adorable.
16:03I think you get that.
16:04She also got some free treats
16:06for being such a good girl.
16:07Oh, thank you so much.
16:09She had such a good time.
16:11We got her lots of goodies
16:12and then we stopped off
16:14to our final stop
16:15to have a drink
16:15and let her enjoy
16:16some of her treats.
16:19Happy puppy day.
16:21Happy dog day.
16:22She's going to eat it there.
16:24Yum, yum.
16:25Of course it is.
16:26Look how happy she is.
16:27Happy puppy.
16:29Oh, let her down.
16:30She let her down.
16:31She wants to be hot.
16:36We had the best day
16:37ever with Rosie
16:39and she was absolutely
16:40exhausted, bless her.
16:42But now's the hard part
16:43having to take her back.
16:46We're just standing
16:47outside the shelter
16:48because we don't want
16:49to bring her back.
16:50I don't want to bring her back.
16:52She's so...
16:53Hello.
16:56Good girl.
16:57Right.
16:57We took her back in
16:58and not going to lie,
16:59we were really upset.
17:00We were actually thinking
17:01of ways to maybe
17:02bring her back to the UK.
17:04We actually came back
17:05to the shelter
17:05two days later
17:06to take her out again
17:07and guess what?
17:09She got adopted.
17:10It made us so happy
17:11to know that she ended up
17:12going to a home.
17:13Since we were already
17:14at the shelter,
17:15we just took another dog out.
17:17His name is Patch
17:18and yes,
17:19he just happens to look
17:20exactly like Rosie.
17:21Probably another staff lab mix.
17:23We took him on this
17:24amazing walk
17:25and okay,
17:26we fell in love with him too.
17:28We need to get out of here
17:29before we try and adopt
