00:04at the rbc canadian open like in some clutch moments he stood up there um and been able to
00:10get it done but at the uh the other side of the coin the guy he played with sam burns
00:14uh is starting to not have the best record when it comes to trying to close the golf tournaments
00:19you know that canadian open was his had a chance about a four or five footer end up having three
00:24playoff holes this is obviously playing the last year um but it's he's got some heartache man
00:29sam's played some some really really high quality golf but for any person at his level
00:37they're going to want to be able to whip that trophy up and that's whether it's weighing on him
00:43or he feels a little bit differently on sundays it played hard today right and it's it's going to be
00:48a tough pill to swallow because it felt like today was his day considering that really nobody went out
00:54there and necessarily took it from him like it was in his hands the number was 10 under
00:59uh so that's going to hurt um and four five and six of course like that that was a run

01:06that you know four play tough like i said five's not like that's one you can't make a bogey on

01:12is a bogey but throughout the rest of the day it's like you you have to find a way to
01:16find some birdies
01:17in there and just wasn't able to get it done and i think uh the conversation around sam moving forward
01:23is like when he gets in contention uh kind of similar to like a luvigo bird like is he going
01:29to
01:29be able to get it done um i know cam young at least showed you know he's he's done it
01:34this year at the
01:34players championship i feel like uh the conversation around cam's not quite as strong now as maybe the
01:41conversation will continue on with sam who's clearly like built to win like these these big time
01:49tournaments and that's like he's a friend of mine and i think he would oh yeah i mean that's fair
01:55and i i think it's so interesting to define these two players next to each other as we go down
01:59the
01:59leaderboard because so let's start with cam like it's and first of all it is kind of amazing that
02:05this entire major hinges on the placement of a pop bunker on the right side of the 18th fairway right
02:11like ryan hitting it in there on saturday playing that unreal 192 yard shot to reach the green
02:17sunday cam cam's ball is almost an identical position can't clear the lip and that's how
02:22the whole thing hinges um did you before we go big picture on cam and narrative this last year
02:28did you like that that risk that he took there like i mean i know you're trying to go out
02:32to win
02:33the golf tournament but do you like kind of just playing something out short and trying to get up
02:36and down for four it's it's i said this on my phone it's so easy to to play monday morning
02:42quarterback now and what you should have done but i've sat in that bunker i kind of know what the
02:46shot was we we tried the same shot i tried to hit the six iron too and that is a
02:50high risk shot he had
02:52a much worse slide than i did it was in a groove uh in the bunker from excuse me from
02:58a rake job
02:59that wasn't a bad rake job it's just the rakes over at the open championship aren't quite the rakes
03:04that we use uh back in the states or you know the two are a little bit longer so it
03:10tends to make these
03:11these grooves and his ball was definitely in it felt like it was gonna be tough to get to the
03:15bottom
03:15of the golf ball uh and and you could tell that he was trying to just help it up but
03:20in that scenario
03:20you would have been better suited uh to have tried to either just wedge something out give yourself an
03:26opportunity to at least have a a 10 footer for par right like that's that's what he you know it's
03:32easy
03:32to just say like he should have hit pitching wedge or nine iron over the bunker to the left give
03:36himself
03:36an angle chip up and then try to post 10 under but i felt like when i was watching and
03:42when i was
03:42calling the golf i felt like 11 under was playoff at worst is what i felt and now that could
03:50have
03:50changed with somebody that could have gone and just won the golf tournament that's how golf goes
03:54sometimes but i felt like 11 was a playoff i felt like 10 had a chance 900 to me felt
04:01like you really
04:02needed nobody to do anything and that's kind of what that's what happened was that scenario um and
04:08you play that tournament tomorrow and have the same scenario going into the back nine after cam
04:13young finishes it probably plays differently right like yeah maybe some guys make some birdies it's
04:19just golf it's sundays and major championships you always can especially when you've played the
04:26golf course and you know the conditions and how difficult some of those pins are in that moment you
04:31could have said you know what 16 is not a birdie hole like it's been throughout this throughout the
04:37whole week 17 sure i'll give you that 14s sure it's a par five but it's like not the easiest
04:43birdie of any par fives that we play 15 you you're closer to making a four than you are making
04:49a three
04:49although i i saw every single person that i watched this week hit this green everybody's
04:54complaining about it but everybody hit the green that i watched i watched him incredible shots in
04:58the 15 yeah actually i take that back john ron mr greeny threw his club yeah but other than that
05:05but other than that man
