00:01Seremban Central's new station is only 35% complete and now delayed until March next year.
00:07However, Transport Minister Anthony Lok says the toughest phase of construction is now behind them, with work set to accelerate.
00:15He says early progress was slow because piling had to be carried out while the station stayed in operation,
00:21requiring underground cables to be relocated and piling points precisely positioned.
00:27With the structural framework now in place, works will move to roof and platform installation.
00:32The station, part of a 280 million ringgit package covering 9 KTM stations in the Klang Valley,
00:39will have three platforms with room for three more, handling up to 120,000 passengers a day in future.
00:46Lok says he has ordered the contractor to urgently carry out extra drainage works after the site was hit by
00:52flash floods.
00:53Not the first such incident there.
00:55So this is to ensure that when the station is ready, it will not be faced with the banjir kilat.
01:02If the station is beautiful, but the platform is in the banjiri, the track is in the banjiri, it will
01:08hurt the passengers.
01:12Separately, Lok confirmed the nearly 8 million ringgit restoration of the century old Seremban station was completed in June,
01:19with its clock tower now working again after years of disrepair.
01:54He also said the wider Klang Valley Double Track Phase 2 project is 55% complete and remains on track
02:01for 2028,
02:02though one line has been closed to speed up works, reducing commuter frequency during off-peak hours.
02:09Lok says train frequency will improve once the new station and double tracking works are completed.
02:14Thank you, thank you, thank you.
