00:08Hey guys it's Richie from Man and Many. Now today I've been lucky enough to be
00:13testing out the next-gen Ford Everest and Ranger. We're here at the Southern
00:18Hemisphere Proving Ground. Check out that view behind me, putting it through its
00:23paces, seeing how they handle in slippery conditions. We've been drifting
00:28snow and ice. First time I've had the chance to do that. Get into that footage.
00:53Queenstown in New Zealand's magnificent South Island with snow-capped mountains
00:57may lure adrenaline junkies every ski season but it's also a crucial testing
01:02ground for Ford's engineering and development teams. The Southern
01:07Hemisphere Proving Ground in the Cardrona ski area is where it all happens. It's
01:11Ford's southernmost testing facility and for 20 years has provided the ideal
01:16setting for cold climate testing. This facility offers unique testing
01:21opportunities between June and September, a time when Northern Hemisphere testing
01:25facilities are thawing out for summer. We were here testing out the new 2023
01:29Ford Ranger and Everest. Both these vehicles are engineered for action, boasting
01:34advanced 4WD technology, sophisticated drive modes and chassis enhancements, making
01:39off-road adventures even easier. Ford's advanced 4WD system is a standout
01:45feature with four settings, 2H, 4A, 4H and 4L. 4A is the default 4WD mode for many of Ranger
01:54and Everest's selectable drive modes, with unique calibrations for each mode. The
01:58automatic on-demand system monitors traction conditions, distributing torque to the
02:03front wheels as needed. Both the Ford, Ranger and Everest come equipped with a
02:07slippery mode as part of their selectable drive mode system. This mode is your best
02:12friend when you're faced with snow or ice. It decreases throttle sensitivity and optimises
02:17gear shifts to ensure better traction on slippery surfaces.
02:21Now in daily life it's not too often you'll need to drive in conditions quite like this,
02:26but the knowledge that both the Ranger and Everest have been vigorously tested here and
02:30are capable of performing under these extremes should be great comfort to drivers. Both vehicles
02:36more than meet the needs of 4WD adventurers, whether they're using these cars for work,
02:41family or play.
