00:00motor park sasha kuning the championship leader a couple of riders to his right gilham ferez the
00:04guy who's second in the championship and in gate number one the number one defending champion simon
00:08langenfelder who won the qualifying race on saturday five second border's turn gates drop now
00:13we charge down into the first turn sasha kuning gets dragged out there by liam evans but it's
00:18down the inside for simon langenfelder langenfelder is going to be the first over the stripe it's
00:23going to be ferez from out of nowhere gilip ferez for the fourth time this year with the black plate
00:28charging through the valley for the first time everts there in second position
00:33and then three abreast as we head uphill zanke langenfelder and janice raceless closest to us
00:39but it's going to be langenfelder who emerges in third place as we drop downhill for the first time
00:43ferruccio zanke on the bedini ducati going by there and he just gets passed by janice raceless so
00:49janice raceless got caught there in the inside looks to go around the outside here to move into
00:53fourth place the italian making it very difficult for the latvian but a bright start for giam perez
00:59he's done exactly what he needed to do sasha kunin buried in 11th position on this opening lap with
01:05a lot of work to do that's him dropping into the bottom corner now to the inside in white
01:10tommy searl it's going to be a long race here for uh sasha kunin yeah that's exactly what he didn't
01:15need he's um he's known for his starts and he's in a day that he really needed to make that
01:19happen he's um
01:20he's not done it so he's got a hard race in front of him but he's going to need to
01:23find the smoother
01:24lines to make this happen get that drag up the hill he's light um and he might be able to
01:28use that
01:28for his advantage throughout this race 26 liam evitz there in second and a man full of confidence
01:33after his qualifying race win yesterday simon langenfelder looking to go around the outside
01:37try and find his way past the belgian janice raceless has got himself into that fourth place
01:41finding his way past badini so we've got as we hit the line not at the end of the first
01:45lap remember
01:46finish line to finish line evans looking across he knows he's got to defend he moves right
01:51langenfelder moves left and he's going to go the long way around here in this uphill onto the plateau
01:55good bit of defensive riding that from the 26 maintaining that second position from the german
02:01langenfelder are you surprised at how tricky the circuit has become and how rutted and rugged it's
02:08become because of the amount of soft dirt they put in over the last few weeks yeah they put a
02:11lot on and
02:12it's a lot different today than yesterday and again where it's not quite as deep today the water they
02:16put down is going to make it a lot slippier so i think although you can see they're aggressive on
02:20the first couple of laps they are going to have to sort of figure out this track as they go
02:24and
02:24they're going to get into it lap three four simon langenfelder looking to go by evans for second
02:29and behind them you've got kemden mcclellan up the inside of janice raceless two battles going on
02:34mcclellan couldn't find his way by langenfelder couldn't find his way past evans but he leads on the belgian top
02:39of
02:40the hill sweeps around the outside almost uses that chalk bank as a berm he lifts to fight another
02:45hill does simon langenfelder as he moves into that second position firm but fair had to be aggressive
02:51right at the moment there but he now finds himself in second evans there in third yeah the thing is
02:57you have to make your pass quick because if you're not and you're searching all the time you're taking
03:01different lines that takes your breath away and almost like you're wasting energy so if you can get
03:05that spot early you can then ride your own lines and sort of just save a bit of energy look
03:10at that
03:11there he just got better dragging pinched evans to the inside knew exactly what he was going to do
03:15but he just drifted a little bit too wide caught that bank could have gone one way or the other
03:19fortunately it went the right way for the german he done well no but tracks i mean you can see
03:25how it
03:26is these heels are going to be a big part of it sasha's in ninth you can see he's coming
03:30up through but
03:30a hard track to make moves especially in a position that he's in with a bad shoulder he don't want
03:34to
03:34make another mistake and it's sort of the track that at the minute you've got to take a little
03:38bit of risk to make the pass happen as you see langenfelder just did well if you put the flag
03:42out now at
03:43the end of this first lap giv ferez leads the championship with 538 sasha kunan one point further
03:49back so that will change as sasha kunan hopefully moves his way further up the leaderboard you don't
03:55expect him to finish at nine on a normal day but you just don't know how it's going to pan
04:00out today
04:00there is kunan to the inside dropping up into that left-hander at the top of the hill there's
04:04captain mclean that's a nice jump there the way they float over that and then i don't know whether
04:09you see it yesterday but the way ferez comes through this next turn how light he is on the bike
04:13how
04:13effortless he is and um they're going to have a hard work now trying to close that gap because once
04:17he
04:18rides free um he uh he's going to be hard to catch well he's been like that the last few
04:23races only five
04:23race wins from the last six starts gian ferez has been chipping away it was 41 points at uh going
04:29into south
04:29africa is now 14 coming into uh this weekend but that's now down to 12 after ferez finished second
04:35in the qualifying race to sasha kunan's fall kunan bottom of the hill there right in the wave section
04:41he's still there in that ninth place trying to close down maxim grow on the maddie honda racing abf
04:47italian machine and this is a fantastic battle here for fourth between janice raceless on the monster
04:51energy yamaha and the second of the factory tribes camden mcclellan there number eight he's in fifth
04:56position one thing that mcclellan has said time and time again in terms of if he doesn't get a good
05:01start just finds it difficult to get through but he knows he's probably the fastest rider on track
05:05would you agree tommy sir yeah he's doing well and he also is always there at the very end of
05:10the
05:10race i think he's one of the fittest on track he's got that dog in him you always know he's
05:13going to be
05:14there um but you want to put yourself in a good position you can see how choppy the ruts are
05:19and you need
05:21to find good lines but maybe that will help him sometimes when you're behind these riders you have to search
05:26for
05:26lines and then when you get a bit of a free gap all of a sudden you feel like you
05:30know the right lines
05:31where when you're out front um and you're trying to defend you don't really search much so sometimes
05:36bad start can help you but i would imagine you'd rather be in front of these boys right now than
05:40where he is well last time around gian ferez was the fastest on track he goes fast again this time
05:46around but he's eclipsed by langenfelder langenfelder into the 57s at 57.8 two couple of tenths quicker
05:51than gian ferez the gap between first and second 2.2 seconds that's the gap ferez out of shot on
05:57the
05:57left there's langenfelder on the jump the next rider to hit the the takeoff there is liam evans he's
06:01about two and a half seconds further back but this battle for fourth place continues between
06:05janice raceless the rookie to the class who's already had a couple of podiums from the last two rounds
06:10second and third in portugal third in south africa definitely a menace to the normal sort of runners in
06:16mx2 what have you thought of the performance from janice races on the amaha of course last year's
06:21european 250 champion coming in and we saw from billy askew for instance the intensity coming in as a
06:27wild card whether it was earlier on in the year or this weekend this kid here has dealt with it
06:32very
06:32very well hasn't he yeah well he was one of the best well a clear best wasn't he last year
06:37in the
06:37emx class so i think his step into it was um he was just ready for the challenge and he
06:42took it in his
06:43stride he's got his brother he's riding with a team that his brother's on so i would imagine that's a
06:47very good atmosphere um he's got that fight in him hasn't he always had as where he got a bad
06:52start
06:52in the emx class he'd always push through to the end um and he's obviously got a lot of skill
06:57good
06:57bike a bit of skill making it happen gear perez four seconds clear at the moment of simon langenfelder
07:04he's been quickest in sector one and sector two the fastest times in the first two sectors here's his
07:11his way past the yamaha of jones raceless mcclellan in fifth the rider there just going out of shot on
07:16the 772 he is in fourth position he's gained two and a half seconds in um half a lap and
07:24he's gone
07:24out to 4.1 now that's what i mean thus i think he's um i think he's just riding his
07:29own race out front
07:30you can see in the corners if you watch him compared to these boys in the battle they're dabbing their
07:34legs
07:34they're getting pulled off the bike whereas ferez you watch him he's so clean through his turns so
07:39effortless he carries that little bit more corner speed i think he's in a higher gear lots of little
07:44things when when you're out front and you can ride your own race it's gonna it's making it so hard
07:48for
07:48these boys because they're just in a fight whereas he's um like he said in his interview he the crash
07:54was probably a good thing yesterday because he's almost that relaxed relaxed that he can um that he's
08:00easy to make a mistake sometimes when you're too relaxed yeah and um he had about a six second lead
08:05he
08:05was backing it off and sometimes when you just switch off too much what happens is you end up sort
08:09of
08:09just like uh taking it for granted and being a little bit complacent one rider who's not complacent
08:14is his teammate kevin mcclellan trying to force the envelope but he's becoming very stubborn here's
08:19janice raceless doesn't want to give too much away certainly not going to let mcclellan by
08:24mechanics not happy but that's a bit yeah manu manuel volpato just can't believe that it's taken
08:30three the best part of four laps to get by the number 772 and this is playing into the hands
08:36of
08:36evans there in third place because whilst these two are kind of uh offensive and defensive and
08:40kind of keeping each other at bay evans is still there nearly two seconds clear best seat in the
08:45house room at the moment it's the energy that it takes out if you're doing what he's doing
08:48um he's inside he's outside he's taking lines he doesn't really want to take um and then when he
08:54does get past him then he's got to take a big breath to then go again to evans mcclellan gets
08:58around the
08:59outside this time his persistence pays off at the top of the hill before the first downhill mcclellan now up
09:04into that
09:04fourth position janice raceless now down to fifth great bit of riding that but he's been working
09:10that for so many corners and finally he made it stick just over on the far side of the circuit
09:15mcclellan now up in the fourth race list down to fifth place you've got his brother there in 13th
09:20ahead of the battle of the bridge you've got askew musto um i think brooke's just behind them so
09:25somehow they've managed to get in a little battle between themselves but i think it's awesome even 14th for
09:30billy first proper gp first british gp so it's a good start for him he didn't get the start he
09:37wanted
09:37but he's hanging in there in 14th and obviously you've got the other brits musto um brooks richmond
09:42you can see them all four in a row i think they're doing great managing this uh british gp they're
09:47obviously going to be nervous um a lot of pressure although everyone would have told them go have fun
09:52mate go enjoy it unfortunately it's not quite the case when you're out there easier said than done we'll
09:57give the rundown in a moment we'll get the first 20 over the line at the end of this fourth
10:00lap here's
10:00sasha kunan red bull ktm factory racing he's under pressure from the number 18 honda hrc patronus
10:06rider delerio latter he's just found his way past the italian and so from that side progress at least
10:12it's only going to gain him one more point in the championship which reduces that gap between him and
10:16perez by another point in fact they're tied at the top at the moment 538 apiece sasha kunan will take
10:22it
10:22as it stands right now based on uh well normally you'd say heat wins but it's going to be ferez
10:28with
10:29nine compared to sasha's six so that will update as the uh the day goes on i'm sure but he's
10:34got a big
10:35gap to make up now that's that's you see yes they got the start and he ran that pace and
10:39that's how
10:40important a start is in this race for any of these riders you can see now he's battling battling for
10:45eight battling for ninth he's just passed latter but he's um now he's got a gap to close so the
10:50start
10:50especially for him in the position he's in with his shoulder so important and sasha kunan battled
10:55himself it's nice not too many riders on the 250 getting over that yesterday no one done it um but
11:00today i think they must have shaked the lip up it's a little bit harder packed and they've learned the
11:04track because it's quite blind as you come up over that hill but to see him do it there it's
11:08the first
11:08one i've seen doing this race yeah saw it in the uh 450 uh yesterday quite a lot on a
11:14regular basis and
11:15stuff like that but uh yeah not that easy to get over and also here yesterday it wasn't too easy
11:19to uh
11:20sorry the next uphill wasn't too easy to triple in either but they reshaped that as well just to
11:24give the riders that option that was something i saw jordan booker do you know on his uh yeah when
11:29he was riding down here with you on his uh 252 stroke that's the part of the track that we
11:32were
11:33just hitting there right kunan heading uh past heading on to the rear wheel of mikula he's got three
11:38seconds to make up this kid here is having a fantastic season the otzicke ktm rider from czech republic's
11:44got his home grand prix a week from now then julius mikula sitting there in sixth position he's had a
11:49couple of decent rides the rider who started 11th in the championship fourth overall in trentino
11:54and here he is hoping to try and eclipse that or even try and equal that if he can this
11:58weekend
11:59he's doing good really good it's new on the scene this year in the or not he uh rode factory
12:04tms last
12:05year but got hurt and then um yeah but this a private team a czech-based team as well so
12:10it kind of
12:11feels like family feels like home for him here's a replay of the start number 99 guillem for s
12:18looked like he was just going to follow simon langenfelder in but as langenfelder probably
12:22drifted a little bit wide on the exit it was gian perez who hit the strike for the fourth time
12:27this
12:27year and by a couple of bite lengths as well take another look at it from above captain mcclellan just
12:32getting caught there by the rear wheel of sasha kunin and then muscles his way down the inside of the
12:36belgian who was a little bit hesitant on that right side gnarly that he's coming down there through that
12:42valley first lap more scrubbing sasha kunin has been down oh i tell you what he fell on the left
12:47shoulder there but he's got the weight of the bike and uh kunan out of that's what seventh place eighth
12:53place at the moment oh that's that what shoulder did he do left or right oh all right that's one
12:58big
12:58one good thing that happened so on that one out of seventh place and for now sasha kunin is going
13:04to
13:04pick himself up in 14. so this is going to be a real test of his character now and i
13:09spoke to uh
13:09davide dicali this morning when i saw him on the way into the circuit and i just said last weekend
13:14in the us that was probably one of your worst nightmares came true with both riders both
13:17championship leaders crashing uh a week before and on vacation if you like racing over there somewhere
13:23else and uh he said yeah he just came to kind of gave me that eye roll you know and
13:28uh now you've got a
13:29situation where sasha kunin just trying to limit that gap he got himself up into uh what seventh place and
13:35all
13:35of a sudden finds himself going down yeah whilst his um championship rivals out front and in the form of
13:41his life at the moment so it's almost all come at the wrong time a lot of big wigs here
13:45from triumph
13:46of course yeah this is nice uk brand uk gp and they're out front this is good i'm gonna say
13:52you
13:53obviously ride dirt store triumph in the british championship and things like that so there are a
13:56lot of personnel here this weekend over there in triumph triumph hospitality uh big weekend for them of
14:00course to be leading the home grand prix they've already had a lot of success this weekend this year
14:05anyway with uh camden mcclellan winning the grand prix ferez winning three two at the last two rounds
14:10and uh yeah big weekend if they can wrap it up here this weekend but look at that sasha kunin
14:15battered and bruised already he's coming in and he's now got an even bigger mountain to climb
14:20they're in 14th place yeah he's still fighting though but again it's so easy now you don't want to get
14:25frustrated or you then try harder and then another mistake comes so it's almost like he just needs to
14:30re-greep a little bit this was what happened a lap ago he got up into this corner here he
14:35was chasing
14:36down micola folded the front goes down on the left shoulder stays off of the right shoulder crucially
14:41that's what it looked like down there from the girls in ktm and the guys at ktm picks himself up
14:46marshall maybe just holds the bike there he looked no dirt on the right shoulder though so that's a good
14:51thing hopefully it hasn't done any more damage it doesn't look so well you wouldn't know with him
14:55anyway he finishes the race broken collarbone or not i mentioned yesterday that uh you could have
14:59probably sent a handful of riders from over here they probably would have been able to win that
15:03round a week ago in southwick but i don't think many would have finished with uh one wing and a
15:07broken
15:07collarbone with five or six minutes to go not anymore anyway it may be a long time ago i might
15:12have a bit
15:13of fighting in me but now i'd have been the first man off the track what are you saying tom
15:17i don't know
15:18getting older anyway 15 minutes to go lovely yeah not scared is he right ferez four seconds clear of
15:25simon langenfelder langenfelder there looking to try and capitalize as well and his uh what is he 33
15:31points behind uh sasha kunin now he started the weekend 51 down on the championship leader 37 behind
15:37gian perez who is now going to be the new championship leader so the gap's staying the same out front
15:42but i
15:42really do think ferez is just riding his own race at this point he seems and actually he mentioned
15:46it in an interview um a couple of weeks ago he's so comfortable having someone on his rear wheel race
15:52and it shows he literally the difference you haven't seen him much on tv in this race but the
15:57the body language and how he rides the bike and how he don't even scrub the jumps like the other
16:02boys
16:02you watch him come through the valley the effort i think you must think i'm that much faster in the
16:07corners i'm not even going to waste any energy to trying to scrub these another rider who didn't scrub
16:11that often was marvin muscan and christoph porcel christoph porcel they just kept it nice and
16:16clean at all times minimize the risk because every time you try to scrub how many times have we seen
16:19riders catch a footpeg or a lever at one point porcel would even prove a point not scrubbing i remember
16:25our team member uh when he was riding for cls they said you need to scrub these jumps so he
16:30purposely went
16:31out his way to jump even higher and he still went fastest firmo that was italy the enigma yeah
16:38here's liam evarts two podiums so far this year they were back to back rounds three and four in
16:44switzerland and sardinia both of those third place finishes is he eyeing up another one here today
16:49where his dad stefan evarts won on three occasions at this iconic circuit a little bit further down the
16:56order on the kawasaki the dixon racing kawasaki kai cars makers he's in ninth he's got jens walvoort behind
17:01him on the ktmsb racing machine the rider from the netherlands had a couple of injury issues recently but
17:06good to see the 48 up there fighting for a top 10 another privateer team that uh walvoort is riding
17:12on just see how difficult it is getting out some of those turns now we the the light parts of
17:17the
17:17racetrack the shiny parts as you see coming down the hills coming through and then going up in the
17:22opposite direction that is the nature of the ground where we've lost the dirt we're now down to the rock
17:26just like you would have at saint-jean erne the french tracks so not an easy place to come here
17:31it was
17:31absolutely perfect when we got here on saturday morning in terms of the first laps of practice
17:35but it changes very very quickly especially with the wind through the valley the higher temperatures
17:39well not high but just sunshine dry weather yeah the track crew doing a great job of maintaining the
17:44moisture unbelievable unbelievable job but it's at this point in the race where the riders just need
17:49to search a little bit because sometimes it's very easy to get stuck in your groove and just keep
17:55hitting that same line even though when there's a couple of bumps in it the best thing to do is
17:59to look
17:59for another one and maybe try something but it's hard on the rider's position now they might have
18:03someone behind them they're trying to protect their line and the rider behind them can see
18:08where they're going wrong and they can search a little bit so it's this point in the race now
18:12where they just need to look we've got a rider down just need to look for something different
18:15kai cosmakers just fell there i think on the uh 33 i think that was cosmakers going out of uh
18:21ninth place
18:22we've got ask you now up in 12 musto 13 if that's a good ride for the brits really really
18:26good ride
18:27billy's got sasha behind him now maybe if sasha gets by he can learn a few things so it's um
18:32positive for the brits here yeah sasha coonan up to 13th then he's found his way past musto
18:37and uh cars makers who fell or did he just oh he's just stopped there hasn't he the bikes just
18:42let go
18:42on him so dixon racing kawasaki uh coming to a halt and cars makers out of the race not good
18:47news for the
18:48british base team and uh steve dixon of course the former british grand prix organizer and promoter we both
18:54road for him both road for him and i know that uh the the advice that he used to give
18:58you in terms
18:59of trying to get your bikes running a little bit quicker i've heard a lot of stories about your
19:02bikes as well sprocket changes up this very track actually yeah we used to go one or two one tooth
19:08better to get three seconds a lot faster what we did is we changed the french sprocket and he went
19:13three seconds faster that's what wouldn't be the grand prix i was watching those when i um done the video
19:20on youtube i was talking about 95 and all the um all the great british races that have been in
19:24the
19:24destination jamie dob um and now this is it's mega to sit back yeah it's been a while bottom of
19:31the
19:31hill here ferruccio zanki 73 badini ducati racing he's in seventh place at the moment and uh for 250 for
19:37the uh 250 desmo tommy um it's not bad is it for their first year in the the class because
19:43obviously
19:44we've seen it with triumph over the last few years and where they've come to in a very very short
19:48period of
19:48time leading the championship as it stands right now a handful of gp victories between ferez and
19:52mcclellan this year alone and those two what first and fourth in the standings as it stands but for
19:58ducati another road bike manufacturer predominantly to be up here fighting for these positions that's not
20:04a bad effort for the newcomers to the class awesome to see i mean i don't personally know how hard
20:09it is
20:09for them to build this and their thought process behind it all but to see right now how well that
20:15british
20:15bike looks on this track it must be a um a hell of an achievement and making them smile back
20:21in the
20:21factory and uh which is only 10 minutes up the road from me so it all worked out well they
20:24brought
20:24americross bike out actually as soon as i heard about it i was like that's a bit of me i
20:28could um
20:28i could jump on that but to see these boys i mean look at the way he's riding absolutely it
20:34looks like
20:35he looks like he's cruising around on a practice track and that's the um i don't know he must he's
20:39just
20:39on cloud nine and the confidence that how clean he is through those you know he reminds me of a
20:44little bit with the bars and everything else clement de salle who he obviously rides with and
20:47trains with on a regular basis de salle had a very very similar kind of style yeah to him that's
20:51very a lot smoother than clement clement was would muscle it in there i think a little bit between
20:56clement and christophe porcel how clean he is through the ruts how he takes his time rides that
21:01higher gear clement um clement had the same sort of style but ferez just a little bit cleaner through the
21:07turns you know it's week in week out um through that look just you watch every other rider come
21:12through that it doesn't look like that you know just week in week out ferez wears and i know it's
21:16nothing but red gloves he stands out with that yellow black combination and how much of that is
21:21like a superstition thing and things like that did you have anything like that where you know you kind
21:26of felt because i did overhear him uh recently in the airport coming back from south africa just
21:32chatting away that was part of the conversation but he was just talking about the red gloves you know that
21:37he probably won't wear anything other than the red glove so i didn't ask him if it was a superstition
21:41but you know he's ready for the red plate isn't he to match um but superstitions not really no i
21:47was
21:47a bit too messy and um if i was superstition i'd probably forget something that i was superstition
21:51about and um my head would fall off so no i never had any superstitions i did hear that you
21:57weren't maybe
21:57the most tidiest no still now suffer from ocd no certainly not but they've even got new graphics this
22:04weekend it it pops off they got the british racing green look um but i think he's managing this race
22:09carlis raceless here it manages to get back up the inside here of uh the 48 so 47 goes by
22:1548 moves up
22:16in a night walvo now down to 10th british rider 11th now billy look yeah billy's having a great ride
22:22there
22:22and uh yeah it was uh perez leading the way here just over on the top end of the circuit
22:32less than a
22:33minute behind uh billy askew normally riding in the emx 250 uh european championship wild card in this
22:39weekend because there is no emx 250 but yeah he had a fantastic start in the qualifying race on saturday
22:44got through the first few corners like uh what fourth fifth the end of that first lap so almost a
22:49lap and
22:50two laps in because finish line to finish line um obviously down to 11th position he ended up down
22:55in 14th place but uh billy askew lifted up the road from me actually in uh north lincolnshire yeah so
23:02great to see him up here one of the sort of future stars he's been knocking on the door over
23:06the past few
23:06years hasn't he been highly touted as uh you know as a emx uh kind of mx2 yeah one of
23:12them he's one of
23:13we have a good group of riders in in great britain and they're all out here now in that in
23:17the mix billy's
23:18at the top of them which is great because it's something that he needs to um he needs to push
23:22on
23:23and sort of prove himself as do they all but i think yesterday he had that ripper of a start
23:27but
23:28then in some ways he's got to get that start to learn but in other ways it sort of shocked
23:32him
23:32and then he was getting riders fly by him left right so it sort of upset his rhythm whereas in
23:37this race today he sort of found his spot and you can see he makes a few mistakes but you've
23:42got to be
23:43put in this position to test yourself and to learn um and that's the same with all the british riders
23:47out
23:47there today billy ask you here then don't start trying in his second mx2 appearance he uh rode
23:52around earlier on in the in the championship but uh this one here at home doesn't get any bigger or
23:57better than this in terms of like the iconic circuit and the history of the place and to have the
24:02support come out and cheer him and the rest of the british boys on uh this weekend and girls of
24:06course
24:06in wmx a little earlier they've had two races this weekend as well round three of their championship
24:10but billy ask you sitting there in 11 knocking on the door for a tenth place okay he's 11 seconds
24:15down but
24:16i only need somebody to drop out of that top 10 and that would be a fantastic result even this
24:19is
24:20a fantastic result even yesterday and for the other boys out there as well obviously bill's
24:24the top of the brits but for them all um to enter to put themselves in that position it's not
24:30easy
24:30there's always pressure and like i mentioned before you've got to enjoy it and it's a special moment to
24:36race in front of the british fans and i think it's nice that so many have come out and they're
24:39sort of
24:40getting behind us there is hope um because we've had a few rough years but there is hope we've got
24:44a good
24:45group of younger riders um in the 85 classes coming up through as well so hopefully for british
24:50matacross we won't be too long to get another british gp win a couple of italians here the
24:55ducati and the honda of zanke in seventh latter in eighth both obviously gunning for each other because
25:02uh lead italian in this little duo of of riders one wants to beat the other one so expect elbows
25:08if
25:08they get a little bit closer wouldn't be surprised anyway but zanke there in that seventh position
25:13zanke who arrived here having missed the first three rounds of the championship in argentina
25:17andalucia and switzerland and he's gradually sort of been bouncing back on 11th overall in portugal
25:22a couple of rounds ago and he's closing in on julius mikula mikula down the inside on the
25:27osichka ktm does he have issues or is he just burnt out pushing in too hard too soon in the
25:33early
25:33part of the race because he is there in sixth and zanke in red and white oh a mistake there
25:38for uh
25:38mikula he almost runs off track zanke takes that with both hands he moves up into sixth position
25:44at the end of lap 12. so uh good fight this from uh zanke
25:49yeah i just wonder how much of this is mikula just maybe a little valve pump or just starting to
25:54fade
25:54here but there was the mistake just ran offline went around the uh the bollard there zanke
26:01quick to react done well to get back in i'd have probably skipped a couple more hay bales and um
26:05tried to keep that position there but there's spread out quite a lot throughout this race now
26:10yesterday's heat racer was a little bit closer but i don't know why it seemed to have spread out
26:15track just a little bit flatter than it was yesterday of course overnight work and this
26:18morning and stuff so it's now just starting to bed back in and try to get back some of the
26:22the character yeah right nervous look over the shoulder there from zanke sees mikula just behind him
26:29looks like mikula has picked up his game a little bit probably wasn't expected to be caught here
26:32by the ducati and the honda you've got sasha now oh he's done him look yeah coonan up the inside
26:38of billy askew so finds his way there into 11th place sasha coonan was closing it's been an eventful
26:45day for the number 19 eventful week eventful week exactly but he found himself fourth in the qualifying
26:52race didn't make the great start here in race one fell from uh seventh down to 14th he's now working
26:58his
26:58way back through traffic yeah something like this where a rider like billy needs to try and follow
27:02and although it's hard you're trying to follow someone who's got the red plate and he is that
27:05little bit faster but even if it's for two turns three turns you can learn a little bit and you
27:10can
27:10just see how much more like less mistakes they make they just seem to flow that little bit more you
27:16see
27:16sasha stand up all the way through that corner and then bill come through right after doing the same
27:20thing so straight away you might learn something there um so if he can hold on to him even if
27:25it's a
27:26half a lap and see a few lines it's um it's good it's good for them to see still getting
27:31over that
27:32bill needs to see that and all because he's not quite got that down like uh like sasha but you
27:36can
27:36see these ruts the hooks in them it's uh that's where you need to be patient and i always say
27:41to
27:41bill in this position vikula responding back here gets himself back a position regains that place from
27:48zanke from a lap ago moves back into that sixth place so uh mikula then into six thank you back
27:52down to
27:53seven with a few laps to go you've got the three of them there this is best battle on track
27:57and they all
27:58italians did you say uh czech rider here in orange and then zanke back up the inside finds his way
28:03back past mikula so this one for sixth place is not done yet latter just about 1.6 seconds behind
28:09keeping a watch and brief the other italian so a bit of a pastrami sandwich here because uh two italians
28:14and a czech probably a joke in there somewhere yeah no they're having it and they don't give up you
28:19can see they're all young they're all hungry back marker ahead yeah moves out of the way but calio
28:24and they're all making mistakes even in this position he's been off track look back alongside
28:27each other looking to go around yeah looking to go around the outside the long way around here but
28:32zanke knew he was there he was slow on the pickup coming out of that final turn on the ducati
28:36almost
28:37allowed mikula to find a way back through this is for sixth position this is mega battle a drag race
28:43up
28:43here and i think mikula just got it again and he has as we tip left at the top of
28:48fox hill oh i tell
28:49you what almost rails the berm again and scrubbing his way using all the race track and a little bit
28:54more coming back again look at that oh he nearly landed on the back wheel zanke tries to now what
29:01oh
29:02that's a nice line he found there tries to out jump him there but not able to find a way
29:06through but
29:06this one tell you what the red mist is down for the rider in red and the rider in orange
29:10as well
29:10it looks like he's upsetting somewhere around this track watch this here comes in around the outside
29:16jumps just about uses enough racetrack but here uses all of it it's a much lower on that right
29:21hand side as they come up that hill jeffrey was using that line yesterday and almost pre-jumping off
29:25the top oh wow oh big big crash there that is horrible for for rucho zanke just got it wrong
29:34at the very
29:35very top i remember brian jorgensen doing that in a one two five grand free but that is not good
29:40for
29:41for rucho zanke he is out of eighth place at a seventh place yeah that's that's not what you want
29:48to happen down there hopefully he's all right um but that is the scary thing of these hills like you
29:52see
29:52on tv you're thinking this is all well and good these riders are sending that often but you can soon
29:57see how quickly it can go wrong and all he did then all he did then that's a little step
30:02down down
30:02that hill he's obviously hit a little kick backwards gone sideways as he's come off the top it's that
30:07bigger drop that the back pin's gone too far around don't really want to see this again actually but uh
30:11there you go just catches the little step there and then he doesn't quite get over the distance
30:15over the gap there but that is a big big hit there but uh he's up and moving so uh
30:20at least he is up
30:22well i'll tell you what heart of the mouth there but normally we wouldn't show them if uh it was
30:26a
30:26little bit more serious but uh he's going to get a round of applause from everybody that second hand ducati
30:32though that'll go cheap on ebay absolutely battered and twisted
30:38that's the hip jump yeah that ferez is getting and sasha i think there's only two of them getting
30:42it in this race through that turn four that hip jump there reminds me of majora 86 when johnny omara
30:49was getting around there now obviously everyone does it all my time that one yeah but the jump is still
30:53there yeah oh right off the side of the track it's getting tricky out there you can see um how
30:59they're
30:59finding new lines maybe it's just inside that main line just to try and get out them bumps relax their
31:04arms a little bit because as you hit them breaking bumps out the corner i mean look at him you
31:09look
31:09that good and you're the turns are making it look like you're an amateur rider sometimes when you get
31:13it wrong so just trying to find that lines at this point in the race be able to relax a
31:17little bit more
31:18will go a long way because you only need to cut the good ones and then all of a sudden
31:21you feel that
31:22flow and it makes you relax elsewhere on the track so one two lines in this position this late in
31:26the race
31:26could um just make you relax around the whole track two lap board has gone out gian ferez with
31:333.8 seconds over simon langenfelder evans third about nine and a half seconds clear of camden mcclellan
31:39over on the right side who leaps into fourth position there janice raceless is next about seven and a
31:44half further back then we've got micola latin out to seven carlis raceless eight jens walvoort nine and
31:49sasha kunan well he'll be a benefactor there to the tune of another championship point so uh he's going to
31:54be two
31:54behind ferez now heading into race two so damage limitation for the rebel ktm rider and uh ferrucho
32:02zanky was going to ride the bike back there but uh that's good to see him up and walking for
32:07better
32:07there just saying you know what maybe i should ride it back because uh i'd like you to get back
32:11in one
32:11piece since you are now in one piece nike course back there one of the uh mx2 regulars he's down
32:19in 24th
32:19position but guillem ferez here with just over a lap to go he's over on the far side of the
32:25circuit
32:25he's been in the class of his own once again i haven't even seen him dab his foot if you
32:29follow
32:29now he probably will now i've said that but just watch how clean he is through each turn compared
32:33to the riders see through that didn't touch his foot and it's almost like he's playing a game out
32:38there he'll be going around thinking i feel i can get every single corner clean there's no way these are
32:42to catch me this is where he crashed yesterday but look stays a little bit higher yeah he didn't
32:46want to lean it quite over as far but he just hasn't even dabbed his foot yeah cornering like
32:50he's on rails and on a different racetrack just like he was in portugal just like he was in south
32:55africa finding wheeling that finding his way out of the bumps and he's just taking his time that little
32:59bit more than some of the guys behind him doesn't seem to be in a rush and that uphill jump
33:03there where
33:04you've got that uh upslope he was just stood up there picked the front up just at that point and
33:08that loads
33:08up the suspension and then springs him onto the plateau then he can double his way through those
33:12swayed in a different rhythm he runs a higher gear than a lot of people throughout the majority of
33:17the corner you can see a lot of people going down before where he's still staying in that gear
33:21and almost changes down after if the if the track tightens up he's just that that smooth and um when
33:28you're in your groove you're in your groove yeah when you're on you're on into the final lap
33:31then phil giam ferez the uh triumph racing mx2 factory team rider this is the gap back to simon
33:38langenfelder 3.3 seconds just there the red bull ktm still with a little bit of work to do but
33:43how
33:44much of this is for us now just starting to back off his lap time uh about a half a
33:47second slower
33:48than langenfelder and i think you know what after the qualifying race yesterday where the spaniard
33:52maybe switched off just a little bit too early and was a bit too complacent hopefully he won't make the
33:57same mistake twice twice because if he does it's going to be the same rider that is going to be
34:00the
34:01beneficiary of that race win this one though will carry a few more championship points yeah langenfelder seems to come
34:06into his stride a little bit the past few gps doesn't he he has a little bit yeah he's been
34:10off
34:10he had the first four podiums he was off it for six he got on the podium in south africa
34:14second
34:14and he's ironed up another potential podium here and he's had back to back qualifying race wins
34:18south africa in here on saturday so um the form is starting to come back is there going to be
34:23a late
34:24push well there could be but first of all you've got to start in front of ferez if you're going
34:29to have
34:29any chance of uh whittling that gap down because rides like this from ferez they're only going one-way
34:34traffic at the moment and that's him going to be leading the championship well he is leading the
34:38championship by two points and it's good to see ebbets in third i was talking to ruben before
34:42and rasmus and they were saying that he's just lacking a little bit of confidence i think it
34:46scared him his injuries um and they said in the week riding amazing and if he was to bring that
34:52to
34:52the track then he'd be up front battling um for razz and battling for a win but just lacking a
34:56little
34:56bit of confidence out there on the track at the minute so hopefully this gives him the boost he needs
35:00and he said that as well in the studio show but also rasmus jorgensen telling us it's only going
35:04to take that one result as we all know but out of the final turn and dropping downhill
35:09guillem ferez is going to take his 10th race win of the season as he wins here race one at
35:16fox hill
35:16takes a look back and just gives a bit of a finger back there to uh simon langenfelder who crossed
35:21the
35:22line about a second behind him how um i don't know he just looks like he's got no weight on
35:27his
35:27shoulders he's just riding freeze no leggers over the finish jump and um what a ride yeah he's in
35:33the uh in the form of his life came here having led 124 laps to sasha kunan 131 he led
35:39every single
35:40one of the 17 laps on offer here in race one so uh gian ferez goes to the top of
35:44the championship he
35:45has a two-point lead over sasha kunan as we head into race two he does it with victory number
35:4910 of the
35:50season and uh gian ferez looking very very good here after race one tommy searle as we've said
35:58during the commentary gian ferez looking like he's on a different racetrack he's just got so much
36:02confidence he's super relaxed he likes to lap around in and around the paddock but when it's game time and
36:06there and the race face and the helmet goes on he is a different character as we've seen but he's
36:11not
36:11aggressive he's not bullish he's just silky smooth and uh makes it look so easy yeah i don't know him
36:16personally but he seems very likable i think he must be liked by some of the other riders obviously
36:20not when he keeps smoking them like he has done then um but whatever he's doing now training with
36:26clem on i think they spend a lot of time in spain they're riding together as teammates him and camden
36:31so whatever they're doing as a team um it's great to see it's great for triumph and they do have
36:36a great
36:37team behind them
