00:00Milville, revs are up, gates down, Deegan a good jump, oh contact, Deegan's down, one of the KTM riders
00:13goes flying off the track, keeps it on two wheels, there's Deegan, that's Prado off track.
00:21Yeah, both those guys leaning into it, hey, since he went in there hot, but Jed didn't let up there,
00:26they come together, you know, hey, probably not going to be happy about that, but here we go again,
00:31both brothers, our championship, one point separating them, and they're running one and two
00:36again, it's like Justin Marcia, nine-time champ, Tony Corolli up in fourth place, Cooper Webb's behind
00:43him, top five, you love to see Corolli up there, the veteran there out of Italy, we're going to go
00:49back and look at the start here, now you're going to see these guys come in, hey, Deegan, he holds
00:55it on
00:55here, yeah, he just got pinched off, you can see Jed on the inside holding his position, Jorge was
01:02trying to lean in because he didn't want to go off the racetrack, hey, Deegan was just a sandwich
01:05in between those guys, likely for him, he didn't get hit, he didn't fall there, take another look in
01:10there, watch, Hayden just stays in there, Jed stays in there as well, just racing, but, oh man, I was
01:16close, JT, yeah, and just, we're not going to probably see it, but Jorge Prado, when he circles back,
01:21he's kind of giving the Hayden Deegan, like, hey, what are you doing signal, but he wouldn't
01:24have known that Jed Lawrence kind of pushed everything wide there, so when he gets more
01:28film, goes back to work, he'll understand more, but he was really, really unhappy with
01:32how that turned out.
01:34Well, happy is Hunter Lawrence, who is in the lead here, over Jed, and it could be a Deegan
01:42v. Prado coming through traffic battle, like we saw in that 250 Bodo with Davies and Kitchen.
01:48I saw Tony off the racetrack in the middle of it, he got pushed off, but, oh, it looks
01:56like Hunter almost stalled it right there.
01:58Look at Barsha, Barsha all over Jed Lawrence for a second.
02:03It's been interesting at the start of this race, Hunter looks like he's not really pushing
02:07his pace, but Jed almost really sitting back, kind of odd, and that's allowing just Barsha
02:13who made some passive action to get up there, close in, let's see if he does it.
02:18He turns that heat up a little bit, Jed, that is.
02:21And Cooper Webb coming through deck.
03:06He's around Paroli.
03:09Jed took a look over, saw that it was Barsha.
03:14He can't tell.
03:16He's around Paroli.
03:17Jed took a look over, saw that it was Barsha.
03:17He's around Paroli.
03:17He showed up by the sound.
03:33Now, the one thing for the people turning in you probably haven't noticed, Jed had a couple
03:38He's not sure if he's 100% here, although he's able to get away from just in there, closing on
03:44his brother.
03:44He might be a little off today or whatnot, so maybe just kind of taking his time.
03:49Whenever he decides to do that, he gets closed.
03:51Yeah, I'm down here by Levi Kitchen's bike is currently being worked on.
03:56I think JT might have hypothesized Levi Kitchen looking down at his motorcycle.
04:00I spoke to team owner for Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki, Mitch Payton.
04:04He said nothing major.
04:05Likewise, the handlebars were bent, and he added that Levi is a little bit sore from that crash early on,
04:10but throwing a new set of bars on and should be good to go.
04:14I'm not being told of any major issues with Levi Kitchen's bike.
04:16Well, gritty ride then considering.
04:18I mean, he went flying in that crash off the start, but good to know.
04:22Sore, nothing for a motocross racer.
04:25He'll be back.
04:26What are you seeing here with the Lawrences?
04:30Let's go to JT on it.
04:31JT.
04:31Yeah, just kind of trying to think through JT's opening lap there and how, for lack of better term, lackadaisical,
04:37he was there.
04:38He even takes a look back at Barsha.
04:39He would have known that Deegan and Prado had issues there in the first corner.
04:43I'm sure he felt Deegan go down.
04:45I'm sure he probably knows Prado went off the track there just from the feel of things.
04:49So, he doesn't have to force things.
04:51He can let this race unfold a little bit more than having the standard pressure back there.
04:55So, just that's the only thing I can think of is why he would lay up so much on this
05:00first lap
05:00is he doesn't have the typical urgency other than his big brother in front of him.
05:06Yeah, that could be one thing, but what he knows is how strong his brother is in the second half
05:10for the race as well.
05:11So, yeah, it is kind of strange, but he's still right there within two seconds.
05:15And now we're going to get a shot at Eli Toback for the first time.
05:20He's in ninth right now.
05:22And how about this?
05:24Mark Finnis, who showed up, planned on doing one race as a privateer for fun at Red Bud.
05:29He got 13th overall on a Honda.
05:32And now he has been picked up by the ISRT Kawasaki team.
05:36They lost their rider.
05:38They moved him up.
05:39He got the factory Kawasaki fill-in ride, Cornelius Tondel.
05:42And here's Finnis in his first ride for this team.
05:45First ride on a Cowie running eighth.
05:48He takes a look back and sees four-time champ Eli Toback back here.
05:53He's going to get all the experience here today.
05:56I think this might be a fun ride for Eli.
05:59You know, now his teammate Jorge Brada obviously had that incident in first corner.
06:03Hey, Deegan's pretty bad.
06:04So he knows the Lord says it would be a tall task to run with those today.
06:09But just slowly make your way up through this field if you can.
06:13And at the same time, just get back to that rhythm of racing.
06:16Might be a good thing for him for the second moto.
06:22And no one eases their way back in.
06:24You've got to be fast to be even here in the top ten where Tomek is.
06:27But what's encouraging, coming back from injury, breaks next week at Washougal.
06:31Then a couple of weekends off.
06:33You might see the best of him after that break.
06:36This is another incident early.
06:38You've got Harrop and Marchbanks.
06:40See what happened with them.
06:43Oh!
06:46Ironically, Eli just went past those two.
06:51Man, and we hear that that's it for Harrop.
06:56He took a ride on the medics wheel.
06:58He was sitting up.
06:59Man, he's been so solid in the top ten this year.
07:01Harrop died the points coming into this on the Triumph.
07:06Top break there.
07:09Yeah, you can see Eli's body position kind of sitting down on some of these jumps.
07:15So he's not really in a rush right now.
07:17Maybe he's riding a little tight.
07:18It's been a while as we're watching Harrop go off on the Alphine Star unit.
07:25This battle now is Prado and Orange.
07:28And then Deegan right behind him.
07:30They have hooked up, as expected, just outside of the top 20 now.
07:35Deegan looking to make a pass.
07:36Yeah, now if I'm, hey, Deegan, I don't know if Jorge will.
07:39But what JT said earlier, the way Jorge was looking at him,
07:42Deegan might want to, you know, just keep an eye on him.
07:45Because if Jorge thinks as he goes off the racetrack, I take everything I just said back.
07:49I was thinking that Jorge might try to get a little payback if he thinks,
07:52because hey, Deegan did something on purpose.
07:54But, hey, he's gone now.
07:57No body Spanish there.
07:59Not able to fight him.
08:00So Deegan, this could put him on the verge of the points.
08:05Yeah, I believe that's 20th place now.
08:07So he is in a points-paying position.
08:09Top 21 would do that.
08:10He's got Jack Chambers here in front of it.
08:14I will say this.
08:15We've seen the last couple weekends where Jorge's been passed,
08:18and we think that's over.
08:19But he's been able to fight back.
08:20So I wonder if he does the same thing with Hayes, Egan.
08:23But Hayes is moving his way through the front as he goes around the outside here.
08:28Almost went around.
08:29The guy's letting it off.
08:31Good stuff.
08:34I believe that's Chambers there.
08:36It's like that 250 moto watching Davies and Kitchen.
08:39You got Deegan and Prado this time.
08:42As the Lawrences continue to stretch it down over Marsha.
08:45That is Caroli and Webb battling for 56th.
08:49You never know who you're going to see race each other at one of these Pro Motocross races.
08:54Yeah, there's a few championships between these two right here.
08:57Yeah, just a classic Webb-Caroli battle here at Pro Motocross.
09:02Caroli was ahead of him, made the mistake, and he's back.
09:06Yeah, he went off the track, opening lap, and it looks like Dylan Brandes is behind him.
09:12Tony's temporary teammate.
09:14Justin Barsha in front of both those guys.
09:16RJ in front of him as well.
09:18And Deegan working on Oldenburg, and it goes by the man on the Liquibali beta,
09:23and I think it was Harrison also.
09:26So two quick passes.
09:27Deegan is on the gas.
09:29Yeah, he wasn't working on him.
09:30That job was finished.
09:33Easy work.
09:35It'll get tougher as he moves closer to the top 10.
09:37Deegan now 17th.
09:41This is Rod Bell.
09:43Yeah, go back to last time we've seen Hayden have to be in this situation.
09:47at Redbud, and you can tell from me watching him, it looks like he knows where he belongs
09:53up front.
09:54Like there was a difference between there was a Timidus at Redbud, and he was getting
09:57there, but here it's like he's moving through like we were watching Levi Kitchen.
10:01The guys that belong up front just is riding, making it easy work for these guys.
10:05But as you mentioned, it'll get harder as he gets close.
10:10Battle just ahead of that Webb-Caroli group.
10:13This is Barsha and now Hampshire.
10:15So interesting story with Hampshire.
10:17Really thought he had made a breakthrough with the bike at Redbud with the forks.
10:21Didn't have the same feeling at Southwick.
10:23Wasn't sure why.
10:24So to try to eliminate all the variables, he took the forks off his practice bike, flew
10:31it here to the race to make sure that the feeling he had at home would replicate at the
10:35race.
10:35And he needs to do well because his team's going away.
10:39We asked him yesterday about being a free agent for next year.
10:43I mean, it's definitely freed up a lot.
10:46I wouldn't say I was stressed out, but also, you know, like you said, just making all those
10:49phone calls and having those conversations.
10:51I would say, like, I'm less enough that I get to race one dirt bike for another two years
10:57after this year.
10:57So we did lock something in, which I'm excited for.
11:01But also, like, I'm not ready to cruise this thing, you know, in for this team.
11:06And the rest of this year, like, I feel like I can still get up there, have a lot more.
11:11It hasn't really showed yet, but also it's another weekend.
11:14Fresh start can do it all again this weekend.
11:17All right.
11:18A little breaking news there that he has a two-year deal locked in with a different team.
11:21And the rumor points to it might be the bike that's right in front of him.
11:25We have heard that he has been in talks with Ducati.
11:27We'll find out about that, I'm sure, later, if that's where he's headed.
11:32Right now, though, they're focused on the moment.
11:33And this is a battle between two guys who will give you everything they have.
11:38Yeah, I was just about to say that.
11:39We might find out if each other knows this might be an opportunity by the way it's going.
11:45But I was going to say, yeah, these guys give it everything.
11:47And Cruz, I know RJ doesn't even know what that word is,
11:50because that's the last thing this guy ever does.
11:52As he has a run-up, Justin Barcher on the inside right here.
11:55He's been working on it.
11:56Looks like RJ had the momentum.
11:59Just had to take that time to make that pass.
12:01Now he's in third.
12:02But these guys are 20 seconds behind the leaders out front.
12:08Justin ain't over yet.
12:11It's never over at Bam Bam.
12:12Well, he's got a nine-time behind you.
12:16Tony Caroli made his way around Cooper Webb there.
12:19Hey, how about a sign here for the Ducati team?
12:21They have three of the top seven in this race in the TLD, Red Bull Machines.
12:28Ferrandes in seventh.
12:28And Mark Finnis continues to hold Tomac at bay.
12:34What a find he has become.
12:36Running eighth right now ahead of Tomac and Blas.
12:39And there's Caroli, the 40-year-old out of Italy,
12:43the nine-time champion in MXGP,
12:45two in the MX2 Class 7 in the 450 MXGP division.
12:51Last year at this race, went down early
12:52and actually got burned by the motorcycle.
12:56Going a little bit better today.
12:57Here's Tomac still working on Finnis.
13:00Yeah, you got to give Finnis a shot out.
13:02Some hole in his arm.
13:04But, yeah, early I was noticing.
13:06I thought maybe Eli would be able to, you know, kind of enjoy this.
13:09But I noticed he was sitting down quite a bit.
13:11And for a guy who hasn't raced all year for outdoors to come to this track,
13:14it's not surprising that he might be tight.
13:17Nonetheless, it's a little bit better now, but he's not in a rush for sure.
13:22Going to check in with the Oakley riders here.
13:27That, of course, includes Tomac, long-time Oakley athlete.
13:31He's nine.
13:31Hampshire is third.
13:32Marshall fourth.
13:33Verandes, Floss, and Smith all inside that top 20.
13:37Down with JT.
13:39You guys are talking about Tomac, and it's still working on it.
13:42You're trying to get into it, trying to move forward.
13:44But it's really hard to overestimate how difficult it is to join a series mid-string
13:50when you have no laps.
13:52He literally has no laps put in in this championship.
13:55And he's jumping in and coming off injury.
13:56And everybody else, this is just another gate job.
13:58All these other guys, they have so much momentum,
14:01and they have their outdoor legs underneath them.
14:03And as much experience as Tomac has, it's still really difficult to ask.
14:08And it's no different than last year.
14:09He came in, he struggled a little bit early, and he got better and better and better.
14:13The playoffs were even better than that.
14:14I would expect the same type of scenario in 2026.
14:17As long as he stays healthy, it will continually get better.
14:20But the first couple of goes that are always a challenge, no matter who you are,
14:24even the likes of Eli Tomac.
14:25Yeah, and just to expand even more on that,
14:27this is the first time he's ridden his KTM outdoors.
14:30So not only has he got to get his race fitness,
14:33he's learning his motorcycle on a bike that he's never actually finished a moto,
14:37did more than half a lap on.
14:39So it might be more that now they're starting to figure out,
14:41or he's figuring out, oh, this doesn't work well here, or it's good here.
14:44A lot of things going on for the champ, Eli.
14:47Yeah, and I was talking to Eli yesterday.
14:49He said that, remember, Supercross ended with a couple of hits,
14:52a couple of different injuries.
14:53So he did the most testing that he could,
14:57but he did feel a little rushed coming into the ProMotoCross campaign.
15:01So they've been able to do more testing and get the bike in a better place for him.
15:04But yeah, hard to make up from two months away from the races
15:07where everyone else has been improving every week.
15:10Deegan has now caught Guillaume, so he has left Prado behind.
15:15Deegan is 13th, Prado's 17th, and he walks forward.
15:19Well, in this pace, he's going to keep catching up to Eli in front of him.
15:24But we'll see Haley.
15:26Yeah, the Swiss rider, Valen van Guillaume, on the big screen right now.
15:29This is a guy who the postseason is really important to him this year.
15:32Last year, he finished ninth, I believe it was, in 2025.
15:36So mind you, he's also coming into the outdoor season injured.
15:39We saw a crash in practice and qualifying earlier in the Supercross season at Cleveland.
15:44So he set out the remainder of Supercross, and he says,
15:46right now we're starting to get our feet back under us.
15:49And, of course, our focus on those SuperMotoCross playoffs in September.
15:53Yeah, because he was racing 250 Supercross,
15:56so he doesn't have any points when ProMotoCross began to get into the playoffs.
16:01And that's where a lot of these riders want to be.
16:04And he's holding Deegan F.A., at least for the moment.
16:08Oh, I say that.
16:09I was wrong.
16:10Deegan's ahead now.
16:12Tondo will be next on Deegan's list.
16:13There is Deegan.
16:15No, it's all right.
16:16Hey, he passed him and pulled away so quick, he wasn't even the same shot.
16:18It's wild.
16:20Well, that's the pace of Danger Boy.
16:23And, look, Deegan, as far as for the title, already was pretty far back, 50-some on the Lawrence's.
16:30The points loss here isn't going to be the big thing.
16:32But Gate Pick, we'll see if he can get close enough to have a shot on another good start in
16:36Moto 2.
16:38Yeah, I'm sure Hayden could probably go back and watch the replay,
16:40but in his mind, I don't think he cares.
16:43He's probably so ready to get to Gate Drop on Moto 2 to get back at what happened in that
16:48first corner,
16:49even though it was just racing.
16:50Hayden probably won't see it that way for sure.
16:53How about up front?
16:55Look at Hunter Lawrence.
16:56He has just walked away from Chet in this Moto.
16:59That's a good line by Hayden Deegan, missing all those bumps.
17:02But, yeah, just pointing off camera.
17:06As it's Tondo here, Hayden Deegan's closing in on him.
17:09That'd be 4.11.
17:12Yeah, 9.1 is the gap between the leaders halfway through this Moto.
17:16And there's a reminder to stock up on a Monster Energy at Fleet Farm.
17:21And here's the rider on the Monster Energy, Kawasaki, Cornelius Tondal.
17:25That is supposed to be Chase Sexton's bike.
17:27Chase is now out the 2024 champion with a torn ACL.
17:31He did come and visit us during race day live.
17:34Chase said he did hang out, talked to Cornelius a little bit today over at the Kawasaki truck.
17:39Yeah, good to see Chase back here get healthy.
17:42The fans miss you for sure.
17:43I was watching a shot of Tondo as he was coming down when we showed him.
17:47He was hitting those braking bumps.
17:49He almost ran off the racetrack.
17:50He got a little nervous because that bike almost went off, but he saved it.
17:54But his problem is the closing rider behind him, Hayden, is on the pace.
17:58Trying to make sure it worked to him and see if he can get inside that top 10 as well.
18:04Last week was the debut from Cornelius on that bike.
18:07He said he's a little tired coming into the Southwick with all the riding and testing.
18:09This week a little more normal schedule.
18:11Feeling good.
18:13Checking back in with Hunter Lawrence who has rolled away.
18:17Yeah.
18:18Yes, he has rolled away, JT.
18:19He looks fantastic there, guys.
18:22And it reminds me of last year.
18:24This was the first race where he was able to best JT.
18:28And I didn't see a scenario where JT could really fight back with anything.
18:32And we wondered at the time, hey, was JT laying up?
18:35Was this a significant change?
18:37And Hunter really ever since then, it's been more of this.
18:40Where if Hunter gets out front, he's able to withstand anything that kind of JT has to offer.
18:45And the last thing I want to add on that, we still have not seen a toe-to-toe,
18:50even a 20-minute battle between these two.
18:52Whoever's kind of gotten the start without a crash has been there.
18:55I want to see these guys go at it.
18:57I want to see them tussle for 35 minutes and see who's the best.
19:00It's kind of been this, well, this is your turn.
19:03Next week it'll be my turn type thing.
19:04And I don't know where the end game is for that,
19:06but it's been a really unique dynamic between the two.
19:10Good point, JT, no doubt.
19:12Well, maybe you'll see those battles here.
19:14The SMX playoffs presented by Monster Energy coming in September.
19:18History is going to get made.
19:19Playoff race one in Columbus, Ohio.
19:21That is September 12th.
19:23Historic Cruz Stadium there.
19:25Soccer facility, another one home of the LA Galaxy.
19:28That is Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles.
19:31And then the finale, the iconic Thunder Ridge Nature Arena
19:34just outside of Branson, Missouri on September 26th.
19:38That will be a championship showdown like no other.
19:40That is a beautiful concert amphitheater.
19:43The track will be built right there in front of the fans.
19:45Go to supermotocross.com for tickets and details.
19:51So Hunter has opened at the 10 seconds over Jett.
19:55We'll go back to the next battle on the track.
19:57That is Webb and Ferrandez.
20:00Cooper is like, man, how many Ducatis are out here?
20:03Two in front of him, another one behind him.
20:06Dylan Ferrandez.
20:07And I love seeing Cooper out here.
20:11Grady Rotter.
20:14Fielding for this playoff.
20:15Got his hands full with Dylan, who's figuring this bike out every weekend.
20:20They're learning new things.
20:22He's going to try to see what he can do with Cooper Webb.
20:25But Cooper's not going to be that easy to pass.
20:28Now, Cooper's definitely stepped up his game the last couple of weeks.
20:32Actually, he was sick for a little while.
20:33So it has been a dig.
20:35Getting better, though.
20:37Ferrandez.
20:38They're in for a fight now.
20:43And at the top, this is where the track change starts.
20:47They would have turned left here to go downhill.
20:48Instead, they turned right to go up.
20:52Yeah, I like this.
20:53I mentioned a couple laps ago, Hayden Deegan's line.
20:56I like his line better.
20:57Dylan almost loses his front end right there.
20:59He's opening that corner up.
21:01And I think if anybody wants to pass there,
21:03he's going to have to take a different line
21:05and maybe possibly set him up to get him up in the top.
21:07But as I said, Cooper wouldn't be that easy to pass.
21:11He's just fighting this line.
21:12He's not really blocking him.
21:15He's just making sure he's taking the faster line,
21:17making Dylan have to go outside,
21:19work away the long way around.
21:22Yeah, these are two riders that know the game is played.
21:25Two veterans.
21:28Yeah, absolutely.
21:29Cooper knew in that section.
21:30There was no way Dylan would get around him.
21:32Just go down the inside, take a breath, and fight him later.
21:36This track, the sight of Webb's only 450 motocross win.
21:41Went 1-1 here back in 2019.
21:43Seemed like that will be the start of many.
21:46Really started strong in the COVID season in 2020
21:49when the championship started at Lorena Lins.
21:51But then he hurt his back.
21:54Just has never quite gotten back to that pace again.
21:56Who's back there you see coming?
21:58Yeah.
21:58Well, I was just seeing Eli Tomac,
22:00who's somebody who's starting to come strong.
22:02He just made a pass on Venice there.
22:05You're going to see him in a shot of Ferrandez popping in.
22:09You're going to see him.
22:10Looked like Eli kind of woke up in a background.
22:13Let's see what he does with it.
22:14And then that bottom box is Deegan working on top 10 right now.
22:17It would be Bloss up ahead of him on the beta.
22:22And Webb holding Ferrandez at bay.
22:24Another lap around.
22:25Oh, yeah, there's Tomac.
22:27Come on, Eli.
22:28I was hyping you up.
22:29I saw how aggressive you were.
22:30You kind of dropped back.
22:31But there's an outside opportunity for a Hayden Deegan
22:34to kind of get up inside the top 8 for sure,
22:37maybe even 6 for Cooper Webb.
22:40Just what we saw in that 250 class.
22:41Once you start seeing these guys,
22:44that momentum will carry you up.
22:45But he's got to put in a couple more good laps
22:48as Cooper Webb is starting to pick up the pace as well.
22:51Yeah, this is like it was for Kitchen in that 250 mode.
22:54You get to the back of the top 10,
22:56dealing with some tough customers.
22:57See if Deegan can get there.
22:59See his line right here.
23:01See how he stays on the outside there.
23:03He jumps out.
23:04We cut there.
23:04But he's missing all those bumps.
23:06and then what it's going to do
23:07is just make that radius of that corner
23:09a little bit wider.
23:10He'll carry his momentum.
23:11So he might not make the pass in that corner,
23:13but he'd be a lot closer for an opportunity
23:15to make a pass somewhere else
23:17soon thereafter.
23:21As he does.
23:22Fell on top of that screen.
23:24There you go.
23:26Hey, one benefit of the redid wrap of this section.
23:28You can see multiple riders
23:30in different sections.
23:31There's Deegan.
23:32Yep, I've had a Bloss.
23:35Well, here he goes.
23:36Now, his mechanic can tell him
23:37there's more positions for you
23:39than he's lost out there.
23:41I almost said I had some times racing him,
23:43but then he was beating me.
23:44I didn't have no time around him.
23:46But, yeah, hey, Deegan
23:48sees guys in front of him
23:49might try to sneak up there.
23:50And what he's going to see
23:51is the number three, Eli Toback,
23:53is Mark Pennis.
23:56JT.
23:57Yeah, you see Deegan.
23:58That was another classic Bloss-Deegan battle.
24:01We've seen so many of those through the years.
24:02But it is notable, you know,
24:04on Deegan, his pace is really good.
24:05He's turning 201s,
24:06which is the same pace
24:07as the leaders out front, Hunter and Jet.
24:09So he'll go back.
24:10He'll look at the times.
24:11That is really reassuring, though,
24:14that he knows if he can get the start,
24:16he can run with the leader.
24:17So that's the type of thing
24:18that the Deegans are very good at.
24:19Yes, the result is not exactly what they want,
24:21but they'll find a silver lining
24:23and know with the start
24:23he can be in this fight in photo, too.
24:25Yeah, absolutely, JT.
24:26And that goes back
24:27to what I was saying earlier
24:28about what I see from Deegan
24:30compared to that Redbutt.
24:31I know it's a different track,
24:32maybe a little bit easier to pass here,
24:34but his pace at Redbutt
24:35was never close to those guys
24:37out front when he was in the back.
24:39The fact that he does have that same pace
24:40is what I see from his body language
24:42that something just seems different here.
24:44And so far,
24:45if he continued moving his way up,
24:47he might have an opportunity
24:48to get closer to three.
24:51Fittance would be next for Deegan.
24:53That'd be a classic Fittance-Deegan battle.
24:54Also, actually, I take it back.
24:56I think they did battle his amateurs.
24:58They're about the same age.
24:59Back to Tomac.
25:00Yes, he now has Ferrandez
25:02and Webb in his sights.
25:06You can see from earlier
25:07some of the other shots.
25:09See what Eli does.
25:12Kind of taking his time.
25:13He's a little bit more aggressive
25:14coming down the hill.
25:16Well, the chainsaw guy likes
25:18and I can hear that at the top
25:19as Eli starts to stir here.
25:21Had the crash.
25:22First lap of the season.
25:23He injured his neck
25:25in a collision with Garrett Marchbanks.
25:29And
25:31the best we've seen, Eli,
25:33in this moto.
25:34But also,
25:35you got Deegan closing as well.
25:37You know what I'm noticing
25:39with Eli is that he's downhill.
25:41It almost looks like
25:42his bike's too soft
25:44to where when he's coming
25:45down those downhills,
25:45he was really breaking,
25:46almost jumping over those bumps.
25:48And that would actually make sense
25:49from his body language.
25:50like he wouldn't really
25:51be able to charge
25:52into corners
25:53because his motorcycle
25:54is probably soft
25:55because he hasn't been racing
25:56and he wouldn't know
25:57that race pace.
25:58So maybe that's what's going on.
26:00The fact that he's able
26:01to close in on Dillon
26:02and he almost had to do it
26:03just over the whole race
26:04because he's not able
26:05to attack so many sections.
26:06So it's something to pay.
26:07He's going to take a look.
26:10Then it's a dig in here.
26:13For nine.
26:16Fennesse, Deegan,
26:18Tomek, Battle, Bingo card.
26:21Yeah, throw Karoli in there.
26:22Yep.
26:23So, again, Fennesse,
26:25this is supposed to be
26:25a one-off ride
26:26at his home track
26:27at Redbud.
26:28He's from Indiana.
26:29Not too far from there.
26:31Turned into a fill-in ride
26:33for this team
26:33because Tondal
26:34got the fill-in ride
26:35with the factory team
26:36and he goes off the track
26:38and there goes Deegan.
26:39Yeah, you've got to slow down
26:40over there.
26:41Don't hear me all, Brent.
26:42They watch it here,
26:43but he does.
26:44No harm, no foul.
26:47Pretty awesome,
26:47this guy in the top 10.
26:49He's been training riders.
26:51Actually said,
26:51since he wasn't racing anymore,
26:53hit the gym,
26:54put on some muscle
26:55just for the heck of it.
26:56So I don't even know
26:56if he's necessarily
26:57in race shape,
26:58but boy, is he riding well.
27:00Fitness.
27:01But Deegan has got to go.
27:03That's like a little bit
27:03with your dad
27:04or your coach is like,
27:06give me that bike, Junior.
27:06I'll show you how it's done.
27:08Yeah, no question
27:09to the students
27:10when you go out there
27:11and run top 10
27:12in the 450 class.
27:14Oh, the Deegan fans love it.
27:15He's on the charge.
27:16Yeah, he is.
27:17Look at that.
27:18Yeah, there's that line
27:19and that line's set up
27:21all because of the way
27:22he's attacking
27:23that initial part
27:24of Mount Martin.
27:25He's opening up,
27:26which gives him
27:27so many different opportunities
27:28inside and outside.
27:30He's really got that
27:32section figured out.
27:33about a box
27:34is Marchbanks.
27:35Remember, he had
27:35that collision with
27:37Harrop, who is out
27:38of this moto.
27:39Marchbanks has marched
27:40all the way to 18th
27:43from the floor.
27:45Marchbanks
27:47was a fifth
27:48of points coming
27:49into this one,
27:49but now could go
27:50to Hampshire's.
27:54Good here
27:54because Hampshire's
27:55running a solid podium,
27:56making up a lot
27:57of points on him.
27:58Do we have Deegan
27:59and Tomac here?
28:00Oh, it's already there.
28:02Just picking it up,
28:04see Eli,
28:05took a look back,
28:06started to pick up
28:07the pace,
28:07but I don't know
28:08how much he can do.
28:09Hey, Deegan's got the charges.
28:13Got these guys
28:14in front of him,
28:15Dylan Ferrandez,
28:16for Webb.
28:19Well, it's a battle
28:20the fans wanted to see
28:21Tomac against Deegan.
28:22It's not exactly
28:23what everyone hoped
28:24because Tomac...
28:48Coming back from injury,
28:49probably not exactly
28:51at peak form right now,
28:52but they're on the track.
28:54Let's see how it goes.
28:58Yeah, you see how much
29:00slower Tomac is
29:01in that corner?
29:02When I say slower,
29:03he's not slow,
29:04but he's not able
29:06to charge as Hey Deegan
29:07kind of just rods
29:07around him there.
29:09To me,
29:09a little bit of,
29:10obviously,
29:11race fitness
29:11and not being out here
29:12dealing with that pace,
29:13but probably bike setup,
29:14and that's expected
29:15for guys
29:15for the first time
29:16ever on this bike.
29:18Hey Deegan,
29:19starting to hear that bike,
29:20and look,
29:21there's sixth place
29:21Cooper Webb
29:22right in front of him.
29:25I'm not going to lie,
29:26there's an outside shot
29:27that Hey can get up
29:28to fourth place
29:29the way he is,
29:30and this is that line
29:31I was saying.
29:32He's going to stay
29:32on the outside.
29:33He's going to square it up.
29:34He's going to be on the inside.
29:36Now, what that does,
29:36it opens up this whole corner
29:38that momentum he's got.
29:39Probably going to square him up here.
29:41He only does a block line.
29:42I'll just go around you anyway
29:43on the outside.
29:44He is absolutely ripping right now
29:47and almost comes off the motorcycle.
29:51Yeah, beautiful.
29:52That's,
29:52we talked about a lot,
29:53and I've been very impressed
29:55about Hayden's whole career,
29:56but even last year
29:57doing outdoors,
29:57when the track changes,
29:59him being able to adapt,
30:00and what he's adapting
30:00is going around Cooper Webb.
30:02Cooper didn't realize
30:02he was there.
30:03These two are good friends.
30:05Cooper wouldn't fight him anyway,
30:06but Hey Deegan's on a roll,
30:08and what he's going to see
30:09is Justin Marshall
30:10about five, six seconds up front.
30:12Mr. Kent is going to let him know
30:13that he might be down
30:14in the first quarter.
30:16Possibility on top five
30:17in his moto.
30:18A little different
30:19than what we saw at Redwood.
30:20I'm just saying.
30:21Yeah, this would be
30:22the hardest earned
30:23from the floor.
30:24Down hard in turn one.
30:26Might be the best
30:27I've seen Deegan ride all year.
30:32No, for sure.
30:34And the fans running it.
30:41He is getting cheered
30:42all the way around this track.
30:46Corolli would be next
30:47four seconds up the road.
30:49Deegan is half Corolli's age,
30:51by the way.
30:5320 and 40.
30:56Yeah, he just ran his fastest
30:57lap of the race.
30:59Two minute flat.
31:00His last lap.
31:01Yeah, he's on.
31:03I love when the rider
31:04is in this spot
31:05because it just feeds momentum.
31:07like everything,
31:08every little patch,
31:09you just get more excited
31:10and you just start
31:11turning that throttle.
31:13Again, the opportunity
31:14to get fourth place
31:15in this moto.
31:16The fact that he's probably
31:17a little upset
31:18the way that first corner went.
31:19We heard him on the starting gate.
31:20He sounds just a little different.
31:23Everything starting to,
31:24you know, sneak up to,
31:26hey, Deegan,
31:27this is the guy
31:27that we thought.
31:29It's like Dylan Friend
31:30and finally gets around.
31:31Cooper Webb there.
31:33Took about 30 minutes
31:34for him to make that pass.
31:39and so Ferrandez now
31:41is seventh,
31:41went eighth,
31:42Tomek ninth,
31:43lost tenth.
31:44Here is Prado,
31:46thirteenth,
31:46who was off the track
31:47in turn one
31:48after that Deegan crash.
31:51Now, just even further,
31:52most of my point,
31:53these two were together
31:54obviously in that first corner
31:55and Jorge's still back here,
31:58you know,
31:59outside the top ten
31:59and hey, Deegan's able
32:00to march his way up.
32:01So when I say
32:02the difference between Redbud
32:03in this race
32:04and Jorge kind of helps me out
32:07with that
32:07because he's not able
32:08to move up
32:08the way Hey, Deegan did.
32:11So far,
32:12it looks good,
32:12but tough motor
32:13for Jorge to continue.
32:15After he's building up
32:16the momentum
32:16the last couple weekends,
32:18you expect a little bit more,
32:19but who knows
32:19what's going on here.
32:27time running out.
32:28It's two to go now
32:29for the leader,
32:30Hunter Lawrence,
32:31who was never really challenged
32:32in this one.
32:33He just rolled away
32:34from Jet Lawrence
32:35and everyone else.
32:36That's why I've been able
32:37to watch the rest
32:38of these battles.
32:39This is Deegan
32:40closing on Kuroi.
32:43Now, just the bars
32:44is right in front of him.
32:46Yeah, Hayden's letting it
32:47hang out here.
32:49If I'm Hayden,
32:50I just want to get close
32:51to him.
32:51If I don't pass him before,
32:52I know I have
32:53this great line
32:54that's up hill.
32:56Tony's going to be,
32:57he's going to try
32:58to fight you,
32:58but he knows
32:59it's not his championship
33:00here.
33:01He might be more
33:02concerned about his teammate
33:03rather than the 38
33:05behind him.
33:12And how about Kuroi?
33:14At his age
33:15and not even a
33:16full-time racer anymore,
33:19testing is his job.
33:21But he looks pretty strong
33:22at the end of this moto.
33:24Yes, he does.
33:25Here we go.
33:30I'll get the cameras ready.
33:31You got a Tony Kuroi,
33:32Hayden, Deegan battle.
33:34I don't know
33:34if anyone thought
33:35those two names
33:37would ever be said
33:38in the same sentence.
33:39And there's Deegan.
33:41That's the line you like
33:42and he likes it too.
33:43Yeah, Tony made
33:44a small mistake,
33:45so it was a little
33:46exaggerated,
33:46but at the same time
33:47like, hey,
33:48Hayden was going to
33:49pass you anyway.
33:50That line is so good
33:51for him,
33:52and Justin Barsha
33:53might not even realize
33:54that Hayden made
33:54that pass on his teammate,
33:56but he will soon.
33:58Hayden Deegan's already there.
33:59We saw him go around
34:00the outside earlier.
34:06He was so far behind
34:07at the beginning of that corner.
34:08I thought he had no shot at it.
34:10He still went for it.
34:11Trying again.
34:14Yeah, he's going to get him
34:16for sure.
34:21There it is.
34:21Bam Bam.
34:23Bam Bam and Danger Boy.
34:25I honestly think these two
34:26like this.
34:27They've talked pretty highly
34:27of each other.
34:29Two aggressive riders.
34:31Deegan puts his hand up
34:32to not be penalized
34:33off the track.
34:34Crowd's fired up now.
34:35Yeah, Hayden's fired up,
34:37and I was thinking,
34:38you know,
34:38Barsha just doesn't allow
34:40anybody.
34:40He's going to give it all.
34:41And, hey,
34:42this is for a top
34:43four and five right here.
34:45You see that Justin's on it.
34:48Angels got to be careful here.
34:50Just stay close to him.
34:51I think you'll get him.
34:52If you don't get him before,
34:53that uphill is your section.
34:55Here it comes.
34:59You want to give Hunter Lawrence
35:00his due for winning this moto,
35:02but you know the fireworks
35:03are coming.
35:04Bam Bam and Danger Boy.
35:06Yeah, sorry, Hunter.
35:07I had a lot I actually
35:08wanted to say about you,
35:09but you're not going to be
35:10able to get there
35:10as Hayden Deegan has a run
35:11up the inside of Justin.
35:13All right, Justin's like,
35:14all right, here you go.
35:16Oh, very nice.
35:18That part, your backs right off.
35:20No trade and paint there.
35:22Yeah, the crazy part,
35:23Justin probably would
35:24eventually gave it to him,
35:25but he can't just allow
35:26him to happen, but
35:28uh-oh, this guy right here.
35:30JT was saying earlier
35:31about him,
35:32and I'm going to let you
35:33go ahead and have this, Jason,
35:34because this is finished.
35:35Hunter made this race so easy.
35:37Yeah, and we might have time
35:39if he rides like this
35:39at Moto2 to talk about him
35:41then because this is the
35:42most dominant ride of the season.
35:44for Hunter over Jett.
35:45No questions.
35:47All answers.
35:48Easy.
35:49First Moto win
35:49for Hunter Lawrence.
35:55Yeah, he was gone.
35:57It didn't look like we were in
35:59to see the best of Jett
36:00with the very curious first lap
36:01where he was riding.
36:02Look back.
36:03Barsha pulled away just enough.
36:05He's about to see what
36:06jet status is.
36:07Back to the battling
36:09Ducatis.
36:13There's Deegan.
36:14And then you've got Barsha and Crowley.
36:16How about this fourth place
36:17from a first-turn crash?
36:19Are you kidding?
36:21That was a great ride by Hayden.
36:24Really, really doing.
36:25Smart passes.
36:29I've got to tell you,
36:30I know how it operates
36:31and as a rider,
36:32you'll go back and look
36:33but probably like
36:34no pay no attention.
36:36I want to believe
36:36that it was on purpose.
36:38That motivation from Hayden
36:39just seems like
36:39a little chip on his shoulder.
36:42I believe we've got a hands full
36:43in the second moto.
36:44Great ride.
36:48Will he have an answer
36:49for these two
36:49if he could stay up
36:51off the start at moto 2?
36:52Find out in a little over an hour.
36:55Hunter Lawrence, though.
