00:00Oh my God, when I heard Love's a Gun Back, it was the first time I felt like the music
00:04I am a fan of lined up with the music I was making and that really excited me.
00:14I was such a people pleaser my whole life.
00:16At some point I realized like I'm kind of attracted to assholes, so I feel like it's
00:20kind of about that, I guess.
00:22They always come to me though, if I really think about it.
00:24I feel like that's how it happens, bro.
00:26Narcissists love people pleasers.
00:28But we're done with that.
00:292026, we drew the line.
00:31This was the last song I'm making about that shit.
00:48This is like the tug of war of trying to finally let that frontal lobe do its thing and talk
00:54to you and figure out your tendencies of people pleasing and all that.
00:58Some days you just still get got.
01:00They hit you with that text and you're like, damn, that's good.
01:13Discomfort can be comfortable.
01:16Think about that.
01:17Something terrible can be familiar enough to feel comfortable.
01:21The red flags, we all know them.
01:22Sometimes we love them and that's not good.
01:50I definitely, in the past, had love weaponized in a sense.
01:55It happens towards me.
01:57Narcissists are very manipulative and I dealt with a lot of that.
02:01At first, this chorus was really accusatory.
02:03It was just like, your love's a gun.
02:05You'll want me now then.
02:06You'll kill me when you're done.
02:07Where I really feel like it became real was to come hunt me down and kill me.
02:12Me kind of asking for it and being okay with it, I think that really made it feel realistic
02:18to the actual scenario.
02:34It's kind of this weird, kind of sexy, but terrible scenario of walk all over me.
02:40Not going to lie.
02:41I've been there.
02:42I was there for too long and I thought that shit was hot.
02:45It's not, by the way.
02:47Don't let them do that shit.
02:48There's other hot shit.
03:04I started with the music on the bridge.
03:06I pulled out a lot of the beat and whatnot and there was just this soaring floaty sound
03:12to it.
03:12It just felt really good.
03:13So then I was chasing just a one-liner sentence that felt like it could sum up the song and
03:21shoulda let you get away.
03:22It feels pretty spot on.
03:23I shoulda never been in this, shoulda never done it, not going to do it again.
03:27Boom.
03:28Voila.
03:30I did get to perform this song recently at Madison Square Garden that was opening for
03:36Charlie Puth.
03:36It doesn't even feel real.
03:37When I picture it in my head, it feels like I'm watching a movie, bro.
03:40It was like, that venue is unbelievable.
03:43And the song in that venue, it just felt so right.
03:47It felt like it should belong there.
03:49It, ugh.
03:49Yeah, it was a magic moment.
