Bev and Lang Kidby drove their century-old Bean 14 from London to Melbourne, via 16 different countries.

00:41The Bean was made in England for only for about 10 years.

00:45The company didn't last very long, from about 1920 to 1930, but they built some quite nice

00:52motor cars, and this is a Bean 14. It's exactly the same as the original car, and it's 100

01:03years old. We came through Iran, and we came in at the border across into Balochistan, and

01:10then all the way up to Quetta, Sukha, Lahore, and Baga border.

01:17And now you are going to India tomorrow.

01:19Yeah. Very nice. It's a 2.4-litre engine, four cylinders, but there is two spark plugs

01:26in each cylinder. So what's the purpose of eight spark plugs?

01:29It has two ignition systems. It has a magneto, like they're very old cars, and then it has

01:36an ordinary distributor, like a modern motor car. And you can just switch from one to the

01:42other, so you've got a backup system.

01:49It has two ignition systems. It's a 2.5-litre engine, by the way.
