Dal Fry & Jeera Rice
Craving that restaurant-style dal fry and jeera rice? 🔥 Make them at home for a taste that's absolutely next level! The secret is giving it a little flame to really bring out the flavors. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed! Serve it up with some fresh naan or papad for the perfect meal.

Ingredients:
For Dal:-
1 cup Pigeon Pea Lentils (Tuvar Dal)
1/4 cup Split Bengal Gram (Chana Dal)
2-3 Bay Leaves (Tej Patta)
Salt to taste
3/4 cup Water
1 tsp Ghee in a pan
1 tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
Pinch of Asafoetida Powder (Hing)
1 finely chopped Onion
Finely chopped Ginger
Finely chopped Garlic
Finely chopped Green Chilies
2 finely chopped Tomatoes
1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
Red Chili Powder (to taste)
2 tsp Coriander Cumin Powder
Garam Masala (to taste)
Chopped Cilantro
For Tadka:-
1 tsp Ghee
1/2 tsp Jeera
2 finely chopped Garlic Cloves
Thinly sliced Ginger & Onion
Red Chili Powder (to taste)
For Jeera Rice:-
1 tbs Ghee
2 tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
Garam Masala (to taste)
Salt to taste
2 cups cooked Basmati Rice (cook 3-4 hours before you make jeera rice)
Method:
Soak 1 cup Tuvar Dal & 1/4 cup Chana Dal in water for 2 hours.
Put the soaked dal in a pressure cooker, add 1/2 tsp Haldi.
Add 2-3 Bay Leaves.
Add Salt to taste.
Add 3/4 cup water.
Pressure cook for 2 whistles on medium heat.
To make Jeera Rice, heat 1 tbs Ghee in a pan.
Add 2 tsp Jeera.
Add Garam Masala (to taste).
Add Salt to taste.
Add 2 cups cooked Basmati Rice.
Mix gently with a spoon.
Keep it on low heat, turn off the heat once mixed.
Now let’s prepare the dal. Transfer the cooked dal to a bowl.
Heat 1 tsp Ghee in a pan.
Add 1 tsp Jeera.
Add a pinch of Hing.
Add 1 finely chopped Onion, fry well until soft.
Add finely chopped Ginger, Garlic & Green Chilies.
Fry well for 5-7 minutes.
Add 2 finely chopped Tomatoes.
Add Salt to taste.
Cook until tomatoes are soft.
Now slightly tilt the pan towards the gas flame, let the flame touch the veggies for a minute (this gives the dal a smoky flavor).
Add 1/4 tsp Haldi.
Add Red Chili Powder (to taste).
Add 2 tsp Coriander Cumin Powder.
Add Garam Masala (to taste).
Fry the spices well, add the cooked dal and mix well.
Add a little water if it’s too thick.
Cook until it comes to a boil twice.
Next, prepare the tadka for the dal.
Heat 1 tsp Ghee in a pan.
Add 1/2 tsp Jeera.
Add 2 finely chopped Garlic Cloves.
Add thinly sliced Ginger & Onion.
Add Red Chili Powder (to taste).
Pour this tadka over the dal.
Add finely chopped Cilantro and mix.
Enjoy delicious Dal Fry with Jeera Rice.
