00:00You know, I think we're all well aware at this by this point in time that President Trump will say
00:05things off the cuff, sometimes very in very complimentary ways.
00:10And sometimes the way that you're describing them now, he very much is a leader that is led by his
00:18emotions and he talks a lot off the cuff.
00:22So I would, you know, obviously take what he says with several grains of salt.
00:27I would also note that what he is saying is actually not based in reality as we've seen it these
00:35last few months.
00:37And Iran has proven time and again that it has the capacity to attack ships in the strait, to interfere
00:47with global shipping, and that it does not mind doing so again.
00:53So President Trump will have a really hard time following through on his threats.
00:58And, you know, what worries me, not just as an analyst, but just as a fellow human being like you
01:03worried about the state of the world today, is the more that this rhetoric is ratcheted up, the more difficult
01:11it is to have good faith, productive negotiations behind the scenes.
01:17And so what I hope will happen is that the mediators who have been doing an incredible job so far
01:23keeping this deal together, keeping the negotiations going, particularly Qatar and Pakistan, I hope that they will be able to
01:32move the parties forward away from social media, away from the bombastic statements and back behind closed doors again.
