00:00And now onto this headline, Amanda, President Trump's approval ratings have been hit a new low.
00:07Polls now show his approval is in the low 30s during this conflict.
00:12And latest polling numbers from NBC show that only one third of Americans approve of this war.
00:17Is Iran becoming a political liability for Republicans and President Donald Trump?
00:23I think that any time you engage in war, there is political blowback.
00:26You are opening yourself up to a very challenging foray, especially as we go into a midterm election in November.
00:38November is not that far away.
00:40People's minds are now focused on how much the price of gas is, how much of the price of goods
00:45are.
00:46And when they hear, you know, this is because of the war, this is because of the closures in the
00:51Strait of Hormuz, oil is trading at, barrel of oil is trading at over $100.
00:56A barrel once again, people feel these pressures.
00:59And often they feel these pressures because you're pumping gas maybe one, two, three times a week.
01:07So all of these have a compounding negative effect.
01:10I think the people, the American people, certainly understood why we had to do this, the threat that Iran posed.
01:18But they were given a four to six week timeline.
01:21We're now quickly surpassing that timeline.
01:24And now we're saying it could be even longer.
01:27So back to your initial question, this is why the president is putting as much pressure on the Iranian people
01:33to cut a deal as possible.
01:35Obviously, the Iranian people are not budging right now.
01:38And so it just does make it harder for the American people to bear the brunt of this.
01:43And certainly all the Republicans who are up for reelection and President Trump, who he may not be at the
01:49top of the ticket this year.
01:50But he is certainly very influential in how people vote because he is omnipresent.
