00:00I want to get into this list compiled by Jeremy Fowler, and he's going to join us coming up at
00:05840.
00:06So, of course, we'll discuss it further with him when he joins us.
00:10He basically ranked the top 10 players at each unit for NFL teams as we get closer and closer to
00:18NFL training camps.
00:19And he interviewed coaches, executives, scouts to compile this list.
00:26More than 70 voters submitted a ballot on at least one position, and in many cases, all positions.
00:33So, of course, we wanted to go through the top 10 quarterbacks.
00:37And the fact that Jaden Daniels is not listed in the top 10, he is in the honorable mention category.
00:44That's fine, whatever.
00:45Is that upsetting to you as a Commanders fan for him heading into year three not to be ranked as
00:51a preseason top 10 NFL quarterback?
00:54I mean, he's coming off an awful year for the team and a very mediocre year for him relative to
01:00his talent.
01:02You know, the guy, would he start and finish four games, something like that?
01:07He played in fits and starts, never got a rhythm, didn't have Terry for training camp, everybody got hurt.
01:13Last year was a big disaster.
01:15His numbers were down.
01:16So, I mean, whatever.
01:17It's fine.
01:18I think he's going to bounce back.
01:19I think when you do this list in one year, I'll be surprised if he's not fairly unanimously in most
01:26people's top 10.
01:27Here's some of the quotes from the article on Jaden Daniels in the honorable mention category,
01:33along with Sam Darnold, who led his team to a Super Bowl, Jordan Love, Brock Purdy, Baker Mayfield, Trevor Lawrence.
01:39It's, quote, I know he was hurt in 2025, but I think this is the year he really makes his
01:45stamp and he's the guy we're all talking about as having taken the next step.
01:49Such a good decision maker and very accurate.
01:51That's from an NFC executive.
01:53From an NFL personnel evaluator, he said, quote, I would still take him over the other quarterbacks from the 2024
02:00draft class from a pure quarterback decision making standpoint.
02:05Right.
02:05That's from an NFL personnel evaluator.
02:09But you can't complain.
02:10You know, the team was awful and he was down.
02:14Wasn't able to stay healthy.
02:16The numbers were mediocre.
02:18It's fine.
02:18So, here's the top 10 list quickly.
02:20It starts at 10 with Caleb Williams.
02:23Jared Goff is at 9.
02:23Well, I think you should start from 1.
02:24I think you should actually.
02:251 to 10?
02:26Because then as you get closer to 10, then where you can maybe quibble with where Jaden might be.
02:32Right.
02:32Some people are upset about some of the lower people.
02:34Well, nobody's upset that Josh Allen is No. 1.
02:37Yeah, Josh Allen is No. 1.
02:38Josh Allen 1.
02:39Except for maybe Patrick Mahomes because this is the first time that Patrick Mahomes has been displaced from No. 1.
02:45Right.
02:45So, Mahomes comes in at No. 2.
02:48Matt Stafford clocks in at No. 3.
02:51Pretty friggin' high-ranky for him.
02:53But he's 37 years old.
02:55He's got great weapons around him.
02:57We'll have to see if Puka Nakua has his head on straight coming into the season.
03:00Didn't he lead the league in touchdown passes last season?
03:02Yep.
03:03Joe Burrow is at No. 4.
03:05Lamar Jackson rounds out the top 5 at No. 5.
03:09And here's your 6 through 10.
03:11Burrow might be a little controversial in that he also has an injury problem.
03:15Right.
03:15And his team hasn't had success.
03:18Well, his team also has, kind of like Jaden, has had a defense problem, too.
03:22Sure.
03:22Like, you're relying on Joe Burrow going out and needing to put up 30 to 35 points per game.
03:28Look, I think he's an excellent quarterback, but is he living more on reputation because his first couple seasons, you
03:34know, he takes Cincinnati to the Super Bowl.
03:37When he plays, he's very good, but he misses a good amount of games.
03:41Yeah.
03:42All right, coming in at No. 6, Dak Prescott, who had a great year last year with C.B. Lamb.
03:47He's always a confounding one because he's a great regular season guy, puts up big numbers.
03:54I guess, to think of him at that high, that's pretty high for me.
03:57I'm not saying Jaden should be ahead of him.
03:59I'm just saying that seems pretty high for Dak.
04:01Yeah.
04:02So, he's at No. 6.
04:04Coming in at No. 7, I thought this was kind of high.
04:07Justin Herbert.
04:08Justin Herbert from the L.A. Chargers comes in at No. 7.
04:12Don't you feel like the bloom is off his rose a little bit?
04:15He hasn't taken that next step, I feel like.
04:17Well, it's the playoffs.
04:18He's had no postseason success.
04:21Yeah.
04:21And I think a lot of people are expecting him to take a step forward with Mike McDaniel as his
04:26new O.C. there in L.A. this season.
04:28He's going into his seventh season.
04:31Yep.
04:32I mean, he's pretty much really good when it comes to touchdown to interceptions in his career, 163 to 58.
04:39Mm-hmm.
04:40That's right.
04:41Last year, 26 touchdowns, 13 picks.
04:44And he showed he can run, too.
04:46He's got some wheels if he needs them.
04:48Sure.
04:49Another guy who can run, a sneaky good rusher, is Drake May.
04:54Coming in at No. 8.
04:56He went from unranked last year to, what was he?
04:59He was 5 at one point.
05:01Right now, they've got him at 8.
05:03He was the runner-up in the MVP last season.
05:05So, based on last season, you have to have him up there.
05:08Yeah.
05:08He's the third NFL quarterback since 2006 to lead the NFL in total QBR, completion percentage, and yards per attempt.
05:16So, he's the first guy to do that in 20 years.
05:19Hey, drafts.
05:19Does Fowler do this?
05:21Does he update this often, like every week?
05:24How often does he update it?
05:26No, this was his preseason.
05:27He talked to executives, scouts, coaches, everyone from around the NFL.
05:31No, he's not talking to them all the time.
05:32This was a preseason.
05:33Okay, right.
05:34That's what I thought.
05:35Just like heading into training camp.
05:36Answer me this, then.
05:37Like, where everybody stands.
05:37How can he go from a highest ranking of 5 when he was last year unranked?
05:42When was he 5?
05:43No, let's talk about highest ranking on the ballots that were cast this year.
05:47Yeah, this year.
05:48Okay.
05:48They talked to 70 executives for this.
05:51Okay, that's one executive or a couple had him at 5, is what I'm saying.
05:55Yes, right.
05:56I thought you were saying historically.
05:57Gotcha.
05:58Also, my question for Jeremy would be, is this based solely on last year's performance,
06:06or is this a combination of last year's performance, your projections for the 2026-27 season?
06:14At the top of the article, it says, this was not a 5-year projection or a career achievement
06:18award, but meant to answer a simple question.
06:21Who are the best players right now?
06:24So, I guess that kind of answers it.
06:25So, they don't have Jaden in the top 10, so you didn't finish the 10.
06:29So, coming in at number 9 is Jared Goff.
06:32His highest ranking was 5, lowest ranking unranked.
06:36His ranking last year was 9, so he's gone up.
06:39He's actually at the same spot he was last year.
06:45So, his last two years, he's thrown for 9,193 yards and 71 touchdowns.
06:51It's hard to argue with the production.
06:53The production is crazy.
06:54I don't think of him in that class, but it's crazy.
06:56I don't really either.
06:57Only four quarterbacks have more 4,500-yard passing seasons than Goff's five.
07:02Brees, Brady, Matt Ryan, and Peyton Manning.
07:06Yeah.
07:07So, you got to give him his props.
07:08Yeah, he's deserving to be on this list.
07:12And rounding out the top 10 is Caleb Williams.
07:15His highest ranking amongst the voters was 6.
07:17His lowest ranking was unranked.
07:20Yeah, so some guys had him not ranked at all.
07:22Some guys had him as high as 6.
07:24Well, the Caleb Williams thing comes down to this.
07:26He had 27 touchdowns with only 7 interceptions, right?
07:30And he had spectacular plays, great comebacks.
07:33He's the ice man.
07:34Whatever.
07:35His completion percentage is really low.
07:38It was second lowest, I think, amongst the guys who qualified.
07:42His completion percentage in 2025 was 58.1%.
07:45I'll tell you who got whored on the list.
07:47Because I don't think Jane Daniels deserves to be in the top 10 based on last season.
07:52If you want to chime in, 1-800-636-1067.
07:55He's certainly capable.
07:56A year before, top five, you could make an argument.
08:00Sam Darnold got whored.
08:02Sam Darnold won the Super Bowl.
08:04If you look at his numbers, 25 touchdowns, 14 picks.
08:07He threw for over 4,000 yards.
08:11Yeah, one of the quotes on him was,
08:13What a career bounce back.
08:14He's been lights out for two years.
08:15Deserves to be in the top 10.
08:17That from a high-ranking AFC team official.
08:20Yeah, I mean, over the last two seasons,
08:23he's had 60 touchdown passes to 26 picks.
08:27He used to be a high-turnover guy.
08:30He has resurrected his career, which a lot of people did not think was possible.
08:34He's living up to his potential.
08:36Yeah.
08:37Now, it took him a little while.
08:38It took him a few stops to get there, but he's done it.
08:41You know what I think might have gotten screwed?
08:43Is Baker.
08:44I think Baker can make an argument when he's at the top of his game.
08:48Last year, he had a pretty decent season.
08:50Yeah, and he had a couple injuries.
08:51I think he recently spoke about having an MCL, an LCL, playing with that.
08:56He didn't throw for a ton of yards,
08:59and maybe his completion percentage was a little low for him,
09:02but 26 touchdowns, 11 picks.
09:06Look, when it comes to Jaden Daniels,
09:07he has the ability to be a top 10, if not top 5, if not a number 1.
09:12Like, after his rookie season,
09:13we thought this is a guy who can win MVPs in the league.
09:15And there's no reason to think he can't.
09:17The question is health.
09:18He's going to have to prove to everybody he can be durable
09:21and play the majority of the games.
09:23Well, he's also going to have to get some help
09:25from the offensive coordinator, from his receivers,
09:27the offensive gameplay.
09:29It's all going to have to gel.
09:30Guys are going to have to stay healthy.
09:31And that's not to say that he played great last year
09:33because he was definitely a tick off.
09:34You can look at the completion percentage numbers,
09:37the QBR, the pass rating,
09:39all the metrics say he did not play as well when he was on the field,
09:42but I think there were a lot of reasons.
09:44When you're not playing every week, it's tough.
09:47When you're dealing with injuries, it's tough.
09:49When you've got Terry McLaurin not there throughout training camp,
09:55it wasn't a season necessarily set up for success for him.
09:59Yeah.
09:59Last year was a nightmare.
10:00That's why he didn't want to talk about it anymore.
10:02That's why at some point in training camp,
10:05he said he's done talking about 2025.
10:08Yeah, he doesn't want to dwell on the past.
10:09He wants to look forward to 2026.
10:11Yeah.
10:11He wants to get back to that 2024 form and or better.
10:15But I agree with you.
10:16I think by this time next year, we'll be thinking of him.
10:19I would be surprised if we're not thinking of him in the top 10,
10:22if not in the top five.
10:24Let's hope that's the case.
10:25It might be.
10:25I'm not willing to say that he'll finish the year
10:28and you'll think he's the best quarterback in football.
10:30I'm not willing to go that far.
10:31But I think he's top 10, top 5 capable if he balls out.
10:35I did post it as our junkies poll of the day.
10:38It's Jaden Daniels, a top 10 quarterback.
10:40Poll of the day brought to you by Surfside Iced Tea and Vodka,

10:54Early voting at Junk's Radio.
10:5652% say yes.
10:57He's a top 10 quarterback.
10:58We'll talk more about this list when Jeremy Fowler joins us coming up at 840.
11:03But next, House from D.C. will join us.
11:06We know he's pumped about A.J. DeBonce's first two summer league games out in Vegas.
11:11We'll discuss that with him next here on The Fan.
11:14We'll see you next time.
