00:00Rookies report on the 24th, veterans on the 28th.
00:05Yeah, so maybe practices start on the 29th or 30th.
00:08So it's not that far away.
00:09The fact that rookies get there in 17 days.
00:14But the commanders went out and signed a DB, Razul Douglas,
00:19who was a third-round pick out of West Virginia
00:24by the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2017.
00:26He's a veteran.
00:26He's 30.
00:28He's played with a bunch of different teams.
00:30He was with Philly for three years, Carolina after that during COVID.
00:34Played on the practice squad with a few different teams.
00:37Went to the Packers for three years, Bills,
00:40and then last year he was with the Dolphins.
00:42But the commanders signed him.
00:44And I'm reading here that basically they're just still a little concerned
00:49about Trey Amos' broken leg from last year.
00:54And he hasn't been practicing because he's not fully recovered yet.
00:59But it's going slow.
01:01So they bring in another guy for depth.
01:03Who knows?
01:04But they were also talking about how Trey Amos' numbers last year weren't that great.
01:09Now, he missed seven games.
01:11But his reception percentage allowed was 68%.
01:15Doesn't sound great.
01:17Receiving yards allowed was 325.
01:19I believe that was second highest on the team, even though he missed seven games.
01:25The QB rating allowed when targeted a 108.
01:29And he was a bad tackler.
01:31There was only one guy worse.
01:33And I think that was Antonio Hamilton Sr.
01:36For the highest missed tackle rate.
01:38I thought just from...
01:39I thought he made some good plays.
01:41I thought he made some plays just from the eye test.
01:43I thought he passed my eye test.
01:45I'm sure all of those stats are valid.
01:47I'm sure they're valid.
01:48I thought the eye test looked like we had something that we can work with.
01:52But I do think it is probably more indicative of sort of his health status than they're just
01:59like down on him completely as a talent.
02:02Yeah, that's what I believe.
02:03That's more of my gut.
02:04Who knows?
02:06But I was a little bit surprised.
02:08And I don't think it's a great sign for him maybe being ready to start the season.
02:16But it's always a good thing to add depth.
02:17And it looks like they picked up a solid player.
02:21So I think all in all, I was pleased with it.
02:26I was surprised by it, but I was pleased with it.
02:28Are you concerned about...
02:30Look, new defensive coordinator, new offensive coordinator, new DC.
02:33Are you concerned about the secondary?
02:36I'm not as concerned about the secondary as maybe some people because I believe that
02:41they added a couple guys, especially with Nick Cross coming in at strong safety.
02:45Yeah, I like what they did with Nick.
02:47I know everybody loves the leadership of Robertson, the guy from the Lions.
02:54I think his stats also, his metrics are pretty bad.
02:57But they point out that the guys that cover the team, that he was being asked to do something
03:01he really shouldn't be doing.
03:02He was covering other teams' ones.
03:04So I think more in a role, more fit for him, I think he'll be fine.
03:10And I think the pass rush is going to be so good.
03:13So much improved.
03:14Let's put it this way.
03:15I don't know how good.
03:16It's going to be so much improved.
03:18And I think it's going to obviously make your DBs look a little better.
03:21Yeah, I think the DBs, I mean, there's just more depth.
03:23And I think that that's, by the way...
03:26And you're bringing in a defensive coordinator who was a DBs coach.
03:28Exactly.
03:29I think that's his thing.
03:30I think they're just going to get better based on leadership and coaching.
03:32Right.
03:33That's his thing.
03:35So I would expect the DBs...
03:37Actually, I'm expecting defensively for the first time in a long time that this is going
03:42to be a fun team to watch.
03:44And we're not just going to sit there and just try to figure out, are we going to give
03:47up a touchdown or a field goal?
03:49What are we going to give up on this drive?
03:50Right.
03:50Is there going to be a touchdown or a field goal?
03:52Because you know when I'm not going to stop.
03:53Right.
03:53Because last year you expected it.
03:55And usually it was a touchdown.
03:56Are we going to give up seven or are we going to maybe, maybe they'll try a field goal.
04:00Maybe we can pray they miss one.
04:02Yeah.
04:03Of course, when they got the ball back, they were three and out for the most part.
04:07Yeah.
04:07So I actually, although I am scared by the schedule, that's my reality check.
04:14So if you ever hear me getting overly carried away by some of these acquisitions and where
04:19we kind of look on paper, just remind me that I think the schedule is pretty daunting.
04:24Schedule's not easy.
04:25But of course, it'll come down to how David Blau is going to use Jaden, whether he's going
04:32to be on the field or not, which I think he will.
04:35I think they're going to protect him a lot more.
04:37But just in terms of the defense, I do believe the defense is going to be fun to watch because
04:41they're going to get after quarterbacks.
04:44I think they're going to cause turnovers.
04:47I think the DBs are going to be much better than they were last year.
04:49Last year they were just bad.
04:50They weren't just bad defending the pass.
04:53They were bad tackling.
04:54Yeah, but they've upgraded so much, especially with the front seven.
04:58I mean, you still have some guys there.
05:00You still have Payne and Kinlaw and those guys.
05:02But with Owe, Chennault, I expect Styles to make some plays even though he's a rookie.
05:11Chase on.
05:12I mean, they upgraded pretty significantly.
05:16And then if you could get a little bit of a comeback year from Frankie Louvoo, find a
05:21role that fits him a little better.
05:24I don't know, man.
05:25I'm excited.
05:26I think I could talk about this.
05:27But so Sonny Styles is in the market for a house in Ashburn.
05:32And I've got a friend who is moving to Rehoboth.
05:38They're building a house in Rehoboth.
05:40So they're selling their house here in Loudoun County in Ashburn.
05:44He's got a beautiful house.
05:46Sonny Styles liked it so much, he came back a second time and walked through it.
05:52But he wants a pool.
05:54And he doesn't have a pool.
05:56But can you accommodate a pool?
05:57Does he have the yard to accommodate a pool?
05:59Oh, yeah, of course.
06:00But he doesn't.
06:00I mean, to build a pool.
06:02Is it too much hassle for him?
06:03It probably is.
06:04He probably just wants to buy a house with a pool.
06:06Anyway, so I've got another buddy who lives in the same neighborhood who does have a pool.
06:10Sonny walked through his house, didn't like the house.
06:14So he liked the house.
06:15He loved the pool, just didn't like the house.
06:17Yeah, but if you like the house, just build a pool.
06:20I think the house is great.
06:21I don't know why.
06:22I'm talking about the one with the pool.
06:24Yeah, yeah.
06:24But okay, whatever.
06:25He didn't like the house.
06:26He didn't like it, yeah.
06:26I'm sure it's a great house.
06:28But if you like the house, the other house, it doesn't have a pool, just put a pool in.
06:32Apparently his girlfriend really wants the pool.
06:34Yeah, I bet.
06:35I mean, pools in this area, sometimes I feel a little silly because you can only open them for a
06:41couple months.
06:41Yeah.
06:42Something like Florida.
06:44Right.
06:44I mean, you know, five months.
06:45When I see a guy with a nice pool and I'm envious of it, how fun does that look?
06:50Sonny Stiles definitely wants a house with a pool, but I don't know if he's going to end up buying
06:54my buddy's house without the pool and build one.
06:58But my buddy was getting all jacked.
07:00He said, bro, Sonny Stiles came back a second time.
07:02I said, well, hopefully he puts an offer, but he bailed.
07:07He wants a house with a pool.
07:08So anyway, so the commander's at a guy.
07:11Training camp's going to be here in 17, 18 days.
07:17I mean, it's right around the corner, man.
07:19Nope.
07:19It's right around the corner.
07:21But are we going to have Chris Patrick on next?
07:24Talk about teams that have upgraded.
07:25Yeah, we'll talk about some Caps hockey with the general manager of the Washington Capitals next, Chris Patrick.
