00:01The Telstra outage last week affected tens of thousands of small and medium businesses.
00:07It's been estimated that the cost has run into the hundreds of millions of dollars.
00:12Businesses that were affected are now able to apply for compensation through Telstra's website on their complaints page.
00:21The telecommunications ombudsman has advised businesses to go through Telstra initially for their compensation.
00:30But if it can't be resolved through the telco giant to then get in touch with the ombudsman.
00:36Telstra last week through their chief financial officer said that they were considering compensation.
00:43But the CEO of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries said that Telstra is in a financial position to be
00:53able to compensate businesses.
00:54Let's take a listen.
00:55I don't think they do have any choice.
00:59Telstra can afford to be generous and they should be fair.
01:04Now the ad has not only affected small businesses such as retail and hospitality and the likes.
01:11but we also saw massive outages across transport particularly in the V-Line in Victoria.
01:19It's on the V-Line's website that they've said if anyone has experienced any out of pocket expenses that they
01:26too can be applying for compensation.
