00:00With this whole scenario right now where we are hearing of temple theft,
00:05Karnataka has announced a measure.
00:07Karnataka has announced an SOP to secure the temple donations.
00:12There could be strict rules coming in.
00:14So if you're a resident of Karnataka or you visit a Karnataka temple and wish to donate,
00:19the government has tightened the donation security system, you must know.
00:23What does that mean?
00:24CCTV cameras are going to be mandatory in all temples across the southern state of Karnataka.
00:31Live temple CCTV feed is going to be linked directly with either the nearest police station or the headquarters.
00:38So the cops also will have access to live CCTV streaming.
00:41There will be central server to monitor the temple cameras.
00:45There will be QR code donations that will be promoted statewide, which is a digital transaction.
00:50So there is a complete, not only a linking to the account, but also clear audit, clear references and an
00:57account of who donated and how much.
01:00There will be QR codes in Karnataka temples here on only near authorized chanda counters.
01:07So of course there will be a formal link to it.
01:10It's not that anyone can show you a QR code and you can donate on that as official.
01:14Regular checks will be done, as the Karnataka government says, to prevent any fraud, even if there's a digital fraud.
01:22Sagai Raj, joining me for the latest on that.
01:24Sagai, that's some high-tech resolution that's being designed for Karnataka.
01:28What are you hearing from the state government?
01:31Why have they done it?
01:32How are they planning to implement it in all temples?
01:34There must be temples in every lane, whilst a few would be the big prominent ones.
01:44Probably as of now, they will be concentrating only the temples, which has been affiliated with the endowment department,
01:51that's the Muzrai department in the state of Karnataka.
01:54And those big temples where they get large donations, those were the temples where the government will target
02:01and ensure that they install CCTV cameras.
02:04There will be a 360-degree camera.
02:06For example, if you keep a dump box, which is called Humdi, here in Karnataka,
02:10you will have a camera here, here, and here, all four sides, the camera will be there.
02:14And it will be installed in a place where all these people monitor that particular dump box
02:21and ensure that there is no malpractice that will be done.
02:24And even to have a safe transaction of the money which has been donated to the temple,
02:31there will be also introduction of digital payments like a QR code, UPI payment and the transfer,
02:37bank transfer, which will be put across these temples where you can scan your QR code
02:42and whatever the donation that you would like to give, you can give it and it will go directly to
02:47the bank.
02:47So these are the new setup which is going to come.
02:50These are the SOPs which will be released by the Karnataka government
02:55to ensure that all these temples, especially big temples where large money is being collected,
03:01those temples will be safe and secured and ensured.
03:05Every single moment will be captured on CCTV cameras.
03:09All right.
03:09So, Sagai Raj will be tracking all the latest on that.
03:12And important here, remember, one state ensuring that there will be more digital transactions encouraged.
03:17So there is a complete account of who has donated and how much.
03:21The ones where there would be cash and in-kind, there would be designated officials who will be there to
03:27count.
