00:00Wild day of SMX at Southwick.
00:05That works as if won every moto this year.
00:0711 out of 11.
00:08Can it keep going?
00:09Can Deegan capitalize if there's an opening?
00:11There's the first moto.
00:13Prado was good for it.
00:26Here it is.
00:28Hard to know what's in store on this track.
00:31But like we said, this sibling rivalry is legitimate for this championship and this race win.
00:36It resumes right now.
00:42And Jett and Hunter.
00:43Hunter as usual up front.
00:45Deegan's there with them.
00:46Deegan in front of Jett.
00:48Going after Hunter.
00:50Hunter Lawrence, great start.
00:51Hey, Deegan slides in front of.
00:52Looks like Jorge Prado's running in his fourth.
00:57Fastest guys on the racetrack.
00:59Run of one through four.
01:00All right.
01:01Deegan's been working on the starts.
01:02He got one of them.
01:03He's ahead of one of the brothers.
01:06And this will be interesting now.
01:09Because you know Deegan's going to try.
01:11Yeah, Hayden's going to try.
01:12And, you know, to his credit, I mean, he was pretty close to Hunter for half that moto.
01:17That first one and kind of lost his toe with those guys.
01:19So, see what he can do.
01:20You can tell Jett knows.
01:23A little sense of urgency.
01:24Got to try to get around Hayden.
01:26Not let my brother do what I do to everybody else and get comfortable in this moto.
01:32So, I look for Jett to try to put a pass on Hayden if he can pretty early.
01:35But, hey, he tried on the first lap last week at Redbun.
01:38It ended up going down.
01:41So, let's see if that's in the back of Jett's mind.
01:48It's going to be fun to watch play out.
01:51RJ Hampshire down in the first turn crash.
01:54Jett looking for running room, looking for lines.
01:58Yeah, at this point, especially early in this race,
02:00I mean, Jett almost doesn't have a choice but to try to get around Hayden
02:04unless he fills a gap over Jorge Prado.
02:06Because he's going to be eating roost and Jorge's too close for him to drop back too much.
02:10So, see if they can do it.
02:12And, you know, every lap that he stays in front of Hayden Deacon, that is,
02:15he's going to start leaving.
02:18He's going to be troubled.
02:20Oh, you give the 38 even a whiff of confidence.
02:25Things will change.
02:26And they are all in the mail on the first lap.
02:37Yeah, now you can see Jett dropping back just a little bit.
02:40He's got a gap over Jorge, so he doesn't have to worry about Jorge coming on the inside,
02:45rotting his lawns.
02:46And I'm sure he'll probably see this race play out,
02:49try to go after the 38 if he can.
02:53All right, one and a half.
02:54Three seconds is the lead for Hunter over Deacon on lap one.
03:07And they're using all this racetrack right now.
03:10Trying to find the smooth stuff on the side.
03:15Yeah, Hayden's able to close that gap up a little bit.
03:18And it just seems like on the beginning part of the racetrack,
03:20Hayden's a little bit quicker than those guys.
03:22I think he just comes in the corners a little bit harder.
03:24But when it gets to these open parts, you have to kind of rely on that body and bike.
03:30They start pulling away as Hayden almost goes down right there.
03:34See that number one closing in on him.
03:35Yeah, you're right.
03:36This section, Jett a little bit faster than Hayden,
03:39but Hayden's holding the zone right now against the brothers.
03:42He's got a lot of experience in the sand.
03:47Yeah, that inside line in that corner is probably going to end up working out.
03:50He's going to have to go a little bit slower,
03:51and they get that inside line to be a lot smoother for him.
04:01You can hear the crowd.
04:02It's the setup everybody wanted coming in to Pro Motocross in 2026.
04:07Deegan V. Dolores is holding his own right now.
04:21And he got back away from Jett, and he's going after Hunter.
04:25Yeah, again, I think it's just certain parts of the racetrack
04:28where he really can kind of charge in.
04:30Hayden looks like he's just attacking, entering the corner.
04:33These long sweepers, like I said,
04:36the Hunter is able to kind of pull away from, like, in this section here.
04:41He's carrying that momentum up, and pulling that gap just a little bit.
04:54Into the call before the storm here in the first five minutes.
04:57And he also had to raise, he ended up raising his brake pedal a little bit.
05:00Pulling Prado just a little bit.
05:02Who's in fourth?
05:10And Hayden continues that trend being a little bit faster in this section.
05:14Yeah, you see him able to get away from Jett again.
05:16A little bit of that could be because it's more of a follow-the-leader in that section, Bruce.
05:20But at the same time, he's able to close in on Hunter just a bit.
05:24JT?
05:25Yeah, you know, he has been able to close up.
05:27I'm really impressed with Hayden's speed here.
05:29You know, just the ability to not only close back in on Hunter at times,
05:33but really keep Jett at bay.
05:34I can guarantee you Jett does not want to be in the position he's in right now.
05:38He would love to be up ahead of Hayden, pressing on Hunter.
05:40But this is really just a testament to steady and continued improvement from Hayden,
05:44really from the jump in this championship.
05:46Yeah, I agree with that.
05:48But also what you said, Jason.
05:50What happened last week in that first moto, Jett doesn't want that to happen.
05:53Because anything, the worst he wants to do is finish second by on his brother.
05:57He doesn't want to go down and have an opportunity to lose more points.
06:00And so, yeah, that's probably in the back of his mind.
06:01But at the same time, Jett, you know, he's been here before.
06:05He's probably watching Hayden stay somewhat close to Hunter.
06:07And if he's thinking about winning this race, as long as Hunter doesn't get too far away,
06:11he'll probably be kind of content to just stay here.
06:15And we've mentioned it every week on this show.
06:17It makes it so difficult to figure out what you're getting from the Lawrences
06:21because they appear to be very strategic about how they use their speed.
06:24But at the moment, Hayden has pulled away from Jett and is going after the 96th of Hunter.
06:38And Hayden has yet to lead a lap on the 450.
06:41Does he have a shot at it here?
06:45You can see how much faster Hayden charges in that corner.
06:48Actually, a really good line right there.
06:49Stayed in there, let that bike slide in there, missed all those bumps now.
06:53But you can really tell and see how easily if Hunter is able to pull a gap again
06:57and they start doing that tug of war, then you kind of know.
06:59But so far, it's so good with Hayden, Jett.
07:01Yeah, he looks great.
07:02And he's really exploiting the edges of the racetrack.
07:05He's trying to find the smooth lines.
07:07I did that segment at halftime talking about the very insides and where there weren't any bumps.
07:12He's been using a few of those.
07:13You see him get a little bit out of shape there.
07:15There's a section right where Christian Craig went down and forth from Shimoto 1.
07:18He's all the way on the edge of the track.
07:21You'll see how much time he's making up on Hunter.
07:23So he's really, like, visually trying to find faster ways to go around this racetrack game.
07:27Well, in talking with his dad, JT, he said that he's using his head to keep more
07:32instead of just using that throttle.
07:33It's more strategy, less pull set.
07:36Meanwhile, his hipboard is telling him to focus forward and breathe.
07:43March Banks from 5th has gone down.
07:46So you're going to see him start drifting back in the order with Prado 4th.
07:50It's a rare race coming into Southwick where I feel like Hayden Deegan was not one of the hot topics.
07:56So much talk about the Lawrences and Prado.
07:58Braden said, Lucas Kunin coming over as a visitor.
08:01Braden said, a little bit under the radar, which is not what we're used to from Danger Boy.
08:06But I think he's outperforming expectations right now.
08:10He looks good.
08:11And if you heard me talk about it earlier in the moto, some of these inside lines,
08:14what JT was talking about, like this one, what Hayden's doing,
08:18he's just standing on the inside of those bumps.
08:19And now there's berms on the outside.
08:22So what's happening is that he's sliding into these berms and able to catch it.
08:26So he's able to keep his momentum up while saving energy.
08:28But that's usually entering into the corners.
08:30And that's where he's making up the time.
08:32But quickly as we say that, Jett's closing that gap back up.
08:36Hunter's starting to stretch it out.
08:39Like I said, you never know what you're getting out of Jett Lawrence.
08:43Oh, they bump wheels.
08:44That was close.
08:47All right, Jett's in attack mode now.
08:50See Hayden running inside.
08:52There's no bumps.
08:53But the key thing is he has to get a little deeper in that corner to keep that momentum up.
08:57But this is an opportunity where Jett can't pass
08:59because now Hayden's going to have to make a decision, go inside or outside.
09:03And Jett goes right by.
09:06Well, that was quick.
09:07Oh, Hayden Deegan tried to follow him scrubbing and almost threw it away.
09:11Oh, that was close.
09:12So about a jump earlier than he did last year with that scrub.
09:15Yeah.
09:15Yeah, that'll wake you up right there.
09:17That was close.
09:20We see it more from Jett when he's leading these races, but how about that?
09:24Eight minutes behind Deegan, but when he decided to go, there was a noticeable difference.
09:30Yeah, he definitely is.
09:31And I think Jett sat back and, like I said, Jorge, now he's starting to close up.
09:36So I've got to push that pace.
09:37And eventually he understands that Hunter, if he stays up there, probably going to get tough.
09:41I need to make that pass now.
09:43Well, there's a little motivation never to follow up to number 38, but nonetheless, Hayden's doing a great job.
09:48Rodden good.
09:49Jett's going towards the front to look at him, close that gap on his brother.
09:52Wow.
09:53Yeah, that was the one thing.
09:54Even while sitting back in third, it wasn't like Hunter had put so much time into Deegan,
09:58where it was eight or nine seconds.
10:01Jett was still close even while in third.
10:03He's got a shot at it.
10:04Deegan going to do all he can to hang.
10:16Pivotal moment in this championship if Jett can run Hunter down.
10:19Here's the pass.
10:20Here's Jett Lawrence right here.
10:22Now what he's going to do is basically going to cut on the inside and run down here
10:26and then basically push Hayden towards outside.
10:30Hayden gets in that corner right here.
10:31Now Jett, at this moment, all he has to do is just beat Hayden to that line.
10:34He's got that pass, and it was pretty easy, but that was all set up by how he was able
10:38to exit that corner.
10:39Here you go again.
10:40See him stand on the inside.
10:42Now he's not hitting in his bumps, keeping out Honda down there.
10:45Power.
10:46Simple as that.
10:48Great pass by Jett Lawrence.
10:51You know, when riders move up to the 450 class, we talk about how they have to learn how to
10:55race each other.
10:56Is there even a moment of Jett trying to figure out, right, I haven't actually battled Hayden Deegan much.
11:01I've got to figure out how to approach this.
11:03Does that happen for a racer?
11:04Yeah, and these kids are smart.
11:06I mean, all of them, Hayden as well.
11:07So even though you haven't raced them for a while, you watch these videos, and you saw what Hayden did
11:12and what makes him Hayden, an opportunity that you can't allow him to do, JT.
11:17100%, and you talk about these moments.
11:20You see Jett look over to see where Hayden was there.
11:22These moments in the race are so pivotal.
11:24That last lap, Jett went 2.02, which was two full seconds quicker than his brother Hunter,
11:30and four seconds quicker than Hayden Deegan.
11:32Again, it's those laps where they have them in their back pocket if they need to throw them in.
11:36The question is, what does Hunter have in his back pocket if he needs it?
11:40Can Hunter respond and throw in some heaters here to answer the question of Jett Lawrence?
11:45Yeah, it's going to be good.
11:47Now what you're going to probably see is Jett back off and understand that,
11:50all right, I've caught my brother, so let's see what Hunter, what's the next move for Hunter?
11:54Does Hunter pick up the pace, and that's going to make me react?
11:57If he doesn't, then I'm going to save this energy.
11:59Because nonetheless, I'm going to have to fight him towards the end.
12:01And if less one of us goes down, they're going to battle for the beginning to the end of his
12:05race.
12:07Checker, chest, baby, chest.
12:10Yeah, I don't know if people always believe that.
12:12It certainly looks like it's full set, but no, they're thinking about it.
12:15This battle for fifth in the bottom box is Marchbanks trying to march his way back to fifth after he
12:21fell.
12:21This would be a season best for Cooper Webb, who is running fifth right now, the three-time Monster Energy
12:27Supercross champion.
12:29Putting in the work in the sand, he and Deegan came here two weeks ago to test.
12:33Paying off for Webb right now.
12:36Top box, 96 of Lawrence, trying to pour it on and get away from Jett.
12:39Katie?
12:40That's interesting, right?
12:41They came here to test together, both he and Hayden Deegan.
12:45Cooper was actually testing both his and Hayden's bike to help Hayden out,
12:49to verify that the team was going in the right direction.
12:51So they kind of were telling me that he was taking on a mentor role, a leadership role within the
12:56Hayden and Cooper Webb space.
12:58It's pretty cool to see that dynamic between the two.
13:02Yeah, wow, you don't hear that much.
13:04But a veteran of the team, Webb, helping out his young teammate.
13:07They pulled away from him now, and it's Hunter versus Jett.
13:10And a little role reversal from a week ago, where it was Hunter putting in the stockings and the charge.
13:17Jett's the one on the move now.
13:19Yeah, I think Hunter's still in a good spot.
13:21I mean, he understands that his brother's going to be there.
13:23And you can tell by the lines that he's running.
13:25He's kind of doing those, what we were talking with, Hayden Deegan, missing these insides, these bumps.
13:30But it's the slower line.
13:31So if you're leading a race, and you know the guy's going to come, take these lines, wait for him
13:37to get there,
13:37and then have some energy to fight with.
13:40But Hunter's doing a great job.
13:41Jett is a little bit faster, but I think a little bit more about Hunter's waiting to plan this race
13:46out,
13:46really kind of dictating the gap between these two with anything.
13:55Checking in with Webb.
13:58March face.
13:58And March face, yeah, is back ahead of him.
14:00So that'll push Webb to sixth.
14:03Webb has not had a top five in a moto since 2023 at high point.
14:08Just got pushed back.
14:09Was fifth.
14:10It's the Fly Racing rider check-in.
14:12Webb now sixth.
14:14Simon Cinnamon, couplebacks Yamaha, 16th.
14:16Hampshire, 17th.
14:18Surefly Racing would love to have Lucas Coonan on that graphic,
14:21but he is not racing in this moto after a crash in moto one.
14:26Yeah, good ride for RJ.
14:27He went down on the start, so making his way back up inside the top 20.
14:32Going to get some points from now.
14:36All right, Webb digging deep on the Monster Yamaha Star Racing machine.
14:45The Jordan Smith coming through next.
14:49And it's one of those things.
14:51This question has been asked over and over and over with Webb being a three-time Supercross champion
14:56and a one-time race winner in the 450 class of motocross.
15:01You see these last five finishes, 12th, 8th, 10th, 13th, 8th.
15:05Yes, he is not at the level that he is at Supercross.
15:08But then you think of top 10.
15:10There are riders in this field doing everything they possibly can.
15:15And Webb is still actually finishing ahead of them.
15:17It's the level is so high.
15:19Be like when you think you're good at basketball,
15:22you go to the local court, an NBA player shows up, and you're like,
15:26okay, Webb being sixth best in this moto means he's still pretty darn good.
15:30No, absolutely.
15:31And it's not a knock.
15:33I mean, Cooper's trying the best he can.
15:35You know, it's just different levels.
15:36And these guys are all about championships.
15:38Cooper's doing everything he can do.
15:40But, yeah, there is different levels to the YMCA club, to the NBA out there for sure.
15:46Right, right.
15:47So Webb being top 10 most of the motos this year is still impressive,
15:51just not where he is in Supercross.
15:53You got Smith, as mentioned, behind him on the triumph, starting to close in.
15:57Barsha and the Ducati, Harrop, another triumph, and Karoli top 10.
16:04And you see the work that Webb's putting in to stay at this level.
16:09Halfway to the motor, a reminder to stock up on a monster energy drink.
16:14Man, I thought Prado, man, when Chet Lawrence made the move on Deegan,
16:18Prado was only about a second and a half, maybe two seconds off of Deegan.
16:22I thought he was going to make a run at him.
16:25But he's actually lost around.
16:26Yeah, I mean, he was.
16:27Hayden's picking up the pace.
16:29I mean, these guys haven't lost too much time.
16:30But Jorge made a pretty big mistake, assuming his last lap.
16:34But he was a lot closer than this.
16:37But Hayden's doing great.
16:39Let's see if Jorge can do what he did.
16:40But in that first motor after he got passed by Lucas,
16:43see if he can follow some of these lines and react.
16:45Because this is what I want to see out of him.
16:47I want that fight back.
16:48You know, third place right in front of you.
16:50It might not be championship-wise.
16:53You know, it's a little long shot.
16:54But to get back and win these races, I want to see these battles.
16:57We've got to win these battles also.
17:01And one of the problems for Prado has been dealing with the lap traffic,
17:04both at Supercross and Motocross.
17:06He admitted last week, it's got to get better at that.
17:09Well, he was leading that moto at Redbone.
17:11So you don't know if that's going to be what leads to some of the variants of lap times here.
17:15Got some traffic in front of him now.
17:19And you see those last couple finishes for him.
17:21But that 17th at Hangtown, that was a bike problem.
17:25Right to that.
17:27And we know Oren has always been a great starter.
17:30So with him dealing with lap traffic, it might seem like an excuse.
17:35But I can understand why.
17:36Normally, he's out front leading these races.
17:38And when you're not leading, lapers just react a little bit different.
17:42So Oren is getting better, Katie.
17:43Yeah, he is getting better.
17:45But the team recognizes that, right?
17:46And they're talking to him about the fact that he does tighten up when the lapers are around him.
17:51He was telling you it was because he's unsure of what they're going to actually do.
17:54So he feels he has to be a little bit more conservative in some places when those lapers are around.
17:58The team right now is encouraging him by telling him to focus and be aggressive.
18:05And Deegan had the really good lap time last time around at 2.04.
18:09He drifted back to a 2.06.
18:12It's Prado matched.
18:14So it's now two and a half seconds.
18:16It's still plenty of time left in this moto.
18:18Shout out to this guy, Jordan Smith.
18:20His best finish of the year was a night at high point.
18:24He is in seventh right now as Triumph develops that new .450.
18:28That's new this year.
18:29And Smith in the big class for the first time in his career this year.
18:34And also big news from that team.
18:37As I said, it both is sad but also a sense of relief variety.
18:40Austin Forkner, at one point one of the hottest prospects in this game,
18:44has called it a career after just many difficult injuries.
18:48And Forkner announced it this week on his social media.
18:51That Triumph gave him a send-off with their statement as well.
18:54We hope whatever Austin does next, he finds his footing in life.
18:59We've seen Austin in a lot of races show a lot of speed.
19:02He should be in this group right now of 450 stars.
19:05But the injuries were just too much to overcome this time.
19:08So best of luck in the future, Austin.
19:10It's been a pleasure watching, man.
19:12Hopefully to see you back out here.
19:13Yeah, last year he was on that comeback trail in the motocross.
19:17So Jordan Smith pulling it down right here.
19:19Good ride by Jordan.
19:21Seven.
19:22Looks like we got Justin Barsha in eighth.
19:28Don't want to get close to him, especially here in the sand.
19:31No Justin.
19:32Closing in, but speaking of closing in.
19:34Yeah.
19:35All right, here we go.
19:36Lap traffic.
19:38And a battle for the lead.
19:40That's Kokinos, one of the locals.
19:42And Hunter able to clear her hand.
19:43That was close.
19:44Man, he should call the police.
19:46Man, that was too smooth.
19:47Criminal right there.
19:48That was beautiful.
19:50Oh, Corolli's out.
19:51He's battling around top ten.
19:53Not sure if it's maybe a bike problem here for the legend out of Italy.
19:58Helping develop that Ducati.
19:59Oh, feet off for Hunter.
20:03Yeah, that's just challenging.
20:05This racetrack is still there.
20:08So he was able to get past those lap routers.
20:10But yeah, Hunter needed to make that pass around that guy in that corner.
20:15Because otherwise, he would have got held up and Jeff might have an opportunity.
20:18So really smooth there.
20:22Moritz's have been 1-2 in six of the 11 motos this year.
20:27They've won all 11.
20:28But what will the order be today?
20:33You know, secretly, I think this is kind of, this is a big moto.
20:37It is.
20:38Not only just for this overall, but really for this championship.
20:41What we've seen Hunter Lawrence do the last couple weekends, you know, it makes, it's new.
20:46You know, for everybody.
20:48And now, like I said in the early part, you're asking the question, you know, can Jet beat Hunter at
20:55the point the way he's been doing?
20:56And clearly, he can, he's got the speed, he looks a lot better.
21:00So that's that body language I was talking about in that first moto and him going down with the lead.
21:04But he looks better.
21:06Big moment in this race, JT.
21:08It sure is.
21:09And you know what I've noticed is they both have their strengths on this racetrack.
21:13Jet is so quick right before the finish line, that fast straightaway into that left.
21:17He's making up a ton of time on Hunter.
21:18And I believe actually Hayden was as well.
21:21But then they get into some of the other sections.
21:22It seems like Hunter has a little bit of an edge.
21:24So you get this yo-yo effect where it kind of shrinks the lead and then Hunter's able to pull
21:28it back out.
21:29Yeah.
21:30And again, what Hunter's doing, he's, I wouldn't say he's riding protective lines,
21:34but he's riding lines to where he's going to have to make Jet go around the outside.
21:37So you can ride this racetrack somewhat down the middle of the highway with the turn signals off
21:43to make that guy have to guess.
21:44And what it's going to do is make Jet have to run these outside lines.
21:48So what you're going to see is Jet closes up on Hunter quite a bit.
21:51But I don't think that's really indicative on how the speed of Hunter is more of his line selection
21:56because he knows he's going to be for a fight.
21:59And so much traffic.
22:02You've got to imagine most of these riders are exhausted now on this track that is so rough.
22:08But you're right, it's a big moment.
22:10Like I said, if it weren't the Lawrence's battling for this title and these race wins,
22:15we'd be pitching this as an epic rivalry.
22:17If it was Sexton and Tobac like it was back in 2022,
22:20or if it was Sexton against Hunter like it was in 2024.
22:24The fact that these two work together so well away from the races
22:28kind of conceals how big a deal this is and how badly they want to win this title.
22:34And it's between them for the race win, the points lead, Hunter off the racetrack,
22:38hanging it out.
22:39Jet is right there.
22:41Yeah, so that lap rider was on that end side, so Hunter couldn't hit his line.
22:45And you notice how more aggressive he was trying to get back to that line.
22:48Again, as long as he rides down the middle of the racetrack,
22:51he's not holding him up, but he's playing defense in here.
22:54And he's going fast in the parts that he knows that Jet
22:57might be able to have an opportunity to make these passes.
23:00Just great racetrack.
23:03I go back to what Hunter said the first time he really saw that battle,
23:06which was a tie point on 250s about four or five years ago.
23:09And he said, you know the Velociraptor in Jurassic Park?
23:12He just keeps getting smarter and smarter.
23:14I learned from him.
23:15He learned from me.
23:16I learned from him.
23:17He learned from me.
23:18And you're seeing it in real time right now.
23:22Yeah, this is really cool.
23:23Now you see Jet switched up his line.
23:25So now he did that.
23:26He's not going to close in on Hunter because he's riding Hunter's same line.
23:30And now you see, look at Hunter.
23:32He's picking up the pace.
23:33Look at the lap before.
23:34He's really had to test the will.
23:36So what he's going to try to do, he's got a little bit of gap.
23:39He might look back like, okay, maybe I'll put it in a hot lap.
23:41Let me see how much energy my brother has at this moment.
23:46Jet stays there.
23:46And then he'll end up going back to the boat.
23:50Bottom box is Prado closing on Deegan for third.
23:55So what they're telling us is first half of the track,
23:57Sectors 1 and 2, better for Hunter.
24:01Sections 5 and 6, back half of the track, better for Jet.
24:07Yep, again, that's Ford Hunter's line.
24:10Now he's on the outside here.
24:11He missed his line there.
24:12So it's okay as long as Jet's not closed.
24:15But you're probably going to watch the number one close in here.
24:24All right, battle continues.
24:26Katie?
24:27Yeah, it continues.
24:28And this is obviously what they were even doing all week long.
24:31They actually rode sand tracks this week instead of their normal training facility.
24:35They were outside Dade City.
24:36And it was actually a recreational facility that is open to the public,
24:40but they could ride it.
24:41And they spent one day there just trying to get familiar and comfortable with the hand.
24:45Oh, that's the legendary Kroom, JT.
24:48Yeah, and I know James and I have probably spent way more time there than we would like to.
24:52That place is absolutely brutal.
24:54And it's really an off-road park.
24:56You know, people are there on quads or on, you know, all sorts of vehicles throughout the week.
25:00It's a little bit sketchy.
25:01But Kroom week, everybody knows that the pros come.
25:04Everybody clears out.
25:05And it's really more of a pro national on Tuesday and Wednesday than it is anything else.
25:09So, yes, that's a long time-tested place to get prepared for this racetrack.
25:16Yes, whatever they're doing, it's working.
25:18It's working, but now you can see that gap under.
25:22Tell by his body, like he's pushing it out, making Jett react.
25:26Look how much quicker he's going in this corner, this section.
25:32He is pulling it back out.
25:33Oh, and as we say that, he's over the bars.
25:38I've got to stop talking about this stuff.
25:40It ain't you, it's just...
25:41Unbelievable.
25:43And an endo has given Hunter Lawrence the lead.
25:45And here comes Deegan.
25:50He's going to have Jorge Prado go around him as well.
25:53Yeah, he's not back up to speed.
25:57Look at that bike.
25:59Got damaged.
26:03And like I said, if this were any other two battling these moments,
26:08these falls for both of them, would be magnified.
26:12That was a big one.
26:15Yeah, a big one vince in this all day now.
26:17Hunter Lawrence is on the split screen here.
26:20Everything looks good.
26:21He's going to get back.
26:22And all he's going to do is just get in here and just bury the front end.
26:26There it is.
26:29Almost looks like he hit neutral at a moment, but at the same time,
26:33it's just easy to look.
26:36The weight got a little too far forward.
26:37Here we go again.
26:40Just buries it.
26:41And probably what's taken him a little bit to get going is, man, that heat.
26:45This is at the end of the moto.
26:46Hot day, Southwick.
26:48All that energy just got shot out of him.
26:53Shout out to Hayden and Jorge Prado for being that close to be able to capitalize on him.
26:59That's true.
27:00They were pushing each other, and that allowed them to go right by.
27:03JT.
27:04I mean, it certainly could be the heat, but I'm just wondering if kind of he took a shot to
27:08the gun there,
27:09maybe knocked the wind out of himself a little bit,
27:10because all of a sudden when you're going momentum like that, you come to a sudden stop.
27:14You run into the motorcycle and then straight over the bar.
27:17So clearly not 100%, but that's a huge break in this championship for Jet Lawrence.
27:23Absolutely what Jet Lawrence needed just, JT.
27:25The two overall wins in a row for Hunter,
27:27and just as we were saying, it looked like Hunter might have been building that gap back up.
27:32It flips, and look at this.
27:35Jet Lawrence is not only looking at the overall win,
27:37because Hunter lost a couple of spots there in addition,
27:41Jet at the moment would take the red place back.
27:45Come on, come on, come on.
27:48And, you know, looking at the lap times before Hunter crashed,
27:52he ran a 203, which matched his fastest lap time at the end of the moto.
27:57Changes the dynamic, so, yeah, that's going to be a tough one.
28:02Two motos, you know, first moto last weekend and then this one,
28:05but bumsy's going to be, I think he'll probably react like how Jet did that first moto.
28:11Like, yeah, you got me mad because you lost the race,
28:13but man, Hunter was riding really good.
28:15But what can you say about this kid?
28:18Jet Lawrence, always there to capitalize.
28:20His pressure made Hunter continue to ride, and he ends up going down.
28:24So either way you look at it, these two are raising the game,
28:27and eventually something has to break,
28:29and Hunter, so far, that first, second moto, he was the one that goes down.
28:35JT.
28:36Yeah, and you just wonder, you know, so much has been talked about Jet in this injury
28:40and how he's been able to manage that, and that brand-new part,
28:43that foot peg that they manufactured this week at the last second.
28:47You wonder how much of a role that's played today.
28:49I hope we'll get a chance to ask him that after the races.
28:51Did it help?
28:52What did he feel different about it?
28:54Because he's had a little bit more fight today,
28:56and you notice, you guys made mention of it,
28:58which I love, after that first moto, he wasn't downtrodden.
29:02He wasn't pessimistic after that first moto.
29:04You could see a little bit more pep in his step than a week ago.
29:08It might be pep in his step from a literal sense.
29:11Maybe that's the difference.
29:12That foot and ankle taken a little bit less of a beating.
29:16And it was a lot of it.
29:17His dad, Darren Lawrence, cobbled together some ideas.
29:21I asked him, did you do the welding?
29:23He's like, no, I got a mate.
29:24They came over and did the welding.
29:25They tried a couple things, and they sent some ideas over to Honda out in California
29:28to put it together with their engineers.
29:31And talking to Lars, the team manager,
29:33they usually don't rush parts like this
29:37because they want maximum durability testing.
29:40So they were pretty confident it would work.
29:43Looks good right now.
29:45Yeah, I agree.
29:46And I think anything that kind of helps,
29:48it could be more mentally, anything to have that safeguard.
29:52But I will say this, you know, this was Jet Lawrence coming back
29:57and understanding the moment as this track, you know, catching foot pegs.
30:01I think he understood that, look, this championship,
30:03it's not getting a long ways from being done.
30:06But at the same time, the way these last couple of weekends go,
30:09I got to bounce back.
30:10And we haven't really seen Jet have to do that to this level in the 450 class,
30:15especially outdoors.
30:16And this is the champion.
30:18So as much as people might think that it's me or whatnot,
30:21this guy has a heart to go to understand the moment
30:23and realize that no matter what, foot pegs or not,
30:27I got to step up.
30:28And that's what he did.
30:28He kept the pressure on his brother.
30:31I was able to get him to second moto after tough first moto with him.
30:34Good stuff.
30:38Oh, yeah.
30:38Hunter is staring three straight overall wins in the face.
30:42Jet wasn't letting him off the hook.
30:49And I got to imagine when you're dealing with that.
30:51As you see, Hunter, yeah, he's not up to his normal pace here.
30:55Still has a giant gap over the rest of the field,
30:58which would be March Banks in fifth.
31:00Just hope that he's okay.
31:02We have seen it all today.
31:05Yeah, normally I'd be like, no, he's fine.
31:07But, yeah, who knows?
31:09He's gotten so tough.
31:10They're hot in injuries.
31:11He just had a winner of the last moto.
31:14But I think at this point, Hunter's got 30 seconds over March Banks at this moment.
31:19It is hot.
31:21Just lost the lead.
31:22Look, I'm not going to catch the guys in front of me.
31:23Let me just ride this thing home.
31:26Overall would still be Lawrence and Lawrence.
31:28Jet over Hunter.
31:29Deegan would be third overall.
31:34Put one of those track markers there.
31:37Prado is now two and a half seconds off of Deegan.
31:39They have been pacing each other for what feels like an hour right now.
31:43Prado and Deegan.
31:45Should have paid probably like an hour, about eight hours away from my body field.
31:49But, yeah, I mean, it's still a good ride by both Jorge and Payton Deegan, like I said.
31:56When normally these two, they get out front, they get a gap and they're gone.
31:59Look at the distance they have over everybody else.
32:01But they fought there.
32:04They were able to capitalize on a mistake by one of them.
32:09Well, it'll take momentum any way you can get it if you're Deegan and Prado.
32:12They will beat Hunter in this moto.
32:16And white flag en route.
32:24Oh, look at this battle between the triumph teammates.
32:27Haram, the Danish rider, and Smith fighting it out for seventh and eighth.
32:34Haram on the outside, 31.
32:36It looks like he's got them.
32:38Well, I say that on these hot days like this here at Southwick, it'll test a lot of relationships on
32:43here.
32:44It's heat.
32:45Like I didn't mean to, but still a good ride by Jordan.
32:49Top ten here.
32:54McHale's actually got a pretty good pace.
32:55He's able to get around Justin Barsha as well.
32:59RJ moves up until ten.
33:02Position, so a good ride by him.
33:04And Haram, such a great guy.
33:06I hope the fans get a chance to meet him during his run.
33:09He was here last year, and he's going back to Europe next year.
33:11Oh, wait a minute.
33:12Is Prado putting in one last charge, James?
33:15From the time and score, it looks like he's all over him.
33:18Got it down at 0.7 seconds between Prado and Deegan.
33:23Well, that'll show you that he doesn't give up, no doubt.
33:27There it is.
33:29How close is he?
33:32Deegan must know he's there, because he is pushing.
33:35And there it is.
33:37Lap and a half left.
33:38It's going to be good right here.
33:44Does this change overall at all?
33:46If Deegan's able to get around?
33:47Uh, yeah, you know what?
33:50I think it would tie, and that could put Prado on the podium.
33:54One lap left.
33:57This guy's been close quite a bit this year.
34:06This is it right here.
34:07Yep.
34:08Oh, there it is.
34:09Yep.
34:10It's a four-point gap between them on the chart right there.
34:12You see on the left side, it would be a four-point swing.
34:15And then the tie would go to Prado if he could make this pass.
34:18And he is coming after it.
34:19Yeah, what he's trying to do, he saw some passes being made right here.
34:23So it wasn't close enough.
34:25Hayden did a good job.
34:26But Jorge, he's going to try to stay really close to him.
34:31And Deegan, small mistake, ends up round by Hayden.
34:36No one has ever questioned the grip of Deegan.
34:40Has he got one more lap at him here?
34:45Key section for Hayden to get through this.
34:48Pretty well.
34:50Jorge as well.
34:52You can see him hugging those markers there,
34:56trying to find that smooth surface.
34:58And sometimes if you can hug him,
35:00that sand kind of breaks away off the edge right there,
35:03fills in these holes.
35:04So it kind of dampens those breaking bumps.
35:08Well, Jett Lawrence with this overall win,
35:10it'll be the 27th of his career.
35:12He will tie the great Bob Hurricane Hanna for career wins in the Premier Class.
35:17But out of all the wins, very few bigger than this,
35:21because it's the rare moment where Jett Lawrence was on the ropes in this series.
35:28He was definitely better today than he was at Red Bud.
35:32Maybe Hunter was going to get this moto anyway.
35:35But hey, Jett's going to feel that a couple got away from him as well.
35:40And we're halfway to this championship.
35:42You cannot get much more even than these two brothers right now.
35:46No, absolutely not.
35:48It's going to be an exciting second half.
35:50Jett Lawrence needed to win today.
35:52And he will win today.
35:54Jett Lawrence wins Southwick.
35:59Deegan holds off Prado in a battle of wills to the end.
36:04Drive by all three of these guys, all four of them.
36:07Hunter Lawrence comes back around.
36:13And Hunter Lawrence may be the one that got away.
36:18Just when he was putting the power down and stretching it back out,
36:21but he went over the bars.
36:23And that will drop him from first to fourth, still second overall.
36:26You know, while we were following Hunter, you know,
36:28you saw Jett come across that finish line.
36:31Big old, you know, piss pump and all that.
36:34But then you go back to last weekend.
36:36Hunter's winning that race.
36:37Looks like he had it.
36:38He goes down.
36:39And then Jett's upset.
36:40He didn't inherit the lead.
36:41So it's the same thing that happened,
36:43but totally different outcome in the way Jett feels about it.
36:46Because he knows, like, look, I've kind of put the pressure on him or whatnot.
36:49I'm here to fight.
36:50Just different outlook.
36:52And ladies and gentlemen, we have a fight for this championship.
36:55I can tell you that right now.
36:56Because if I'm Hunter Lawrence,
36:58I feel just as good as I did after last weekend.
37:00A little more tired, disappointed, but I'm there.
37:05Throw a blanket over him.
37:06It is that close to the brothers.
37:08Jett back on top after Hunter had the two overall wins in a row.
37:13And we mentioned this.
37:15The tie with the great Bob Hanna on the all-time win list.
37:18That's hard to imagine.
37:21And broke a tie for moto wins that we had showed you last week
37:24with the AMA Hall of Famer Jeff Ford,
37:28one of the greatest all-around in motorsports ever.
37:34And that's in very short time that Jett has done that type of damage.
