00:00Over on the left-hand side, also maybe look for a little bit of carnage as well as we got
00:03yesterday.
00:04Three, four, maybe five riders went down as they all sort of ducked and weaved in that inside.
00:12Valan was just looking to his inside gate there as he was about to disappear.
00:17Sascha Kunen, he was a little bit sloppy getting out of the turn.
00:21Was it Langenfelder that got over the foxhole shot line?
00:23Langenfelder getting off to a flying start here, just as he needed to.
00:29Mikola just behind him on the 20th second, Sascha Kunen there in third.
00:32He nudges up the inside of the fast starting number 18, Valerio Lata.
00:37Lata in fourth now, but Yanis Raceless in fifth, Ferez around the outside in sixth.
00:43And then Valan in seventh position.
00:46Riders down at the bottom of the hill, Carlos Raceless I think, maybe one or two others in there will
00:50just get a check on that.
00:53He might be okay actually, Carlos Raceless.
00:57Don't know, we'll have to wait and see.
00:59Anyway, it's Langenfelder who leads.
01:00Mikola second, Lata third, Yanis Raceless fourth, Kunen fifth, Ferez, Valan, Carsmakers, Grote and McClellan.
01:06We've got Evans and Zanke next.
01:08Zanke from the outside gate.
01:10Be nice to see a replay of that because if he sort of got over the gate and then cut
01:14right across or maybe railed the berm to the outside,
01:17wasn't really looking to that part of the racetrack.
01:19But yeah, Carlos Raceless was one of those guys that went down in that tight right turn five a moment
01:24ago.
01:24And those who did well yesterday off the start, complete reverse this time.
01:27Zanke standing in 16th place.
01:29Now he's just made a move up for that place and Balbort outside right on the edge of the top
01:3230.
01:32So those two not repeating their success from yesterday.
01:35Sasha Kunen just hounding Yanis Raceless there.
01:40Looked like he was going to dive bomb him up the inside but couldn't afford to leave the door open
01:43because just behind him here,
01:45the number 99, Gim Ferez.
01:48Ferez in that sixth place at the moment.
01:50Hard and slick through here, off cambered.
01:52They'll drift to that bank.
01:53They come in from the opposite side.
01:55They can slightly cut back towards the inside.
01:57Great start this for Yanis Raceless.
01:59He was a bit skew-whiffed there.
02:01He makes a mistake.
02:02So too does Kunen to his outside.
02:04Kunen working all of the track in a bit more.
02:06He's going to go to the left and maybe even cut down to the inside here at the top of
02:10the hill.
02:11He's going to try and squeeze in.
02:12Yanis Raceless, the big Latvian, got bigger elbows but not big enough.
02:17But they did the trick.
02:19Kunen bouncing off the bank.
02:21Ben Ferez has gone through as well.
02:23So an expensive 100, 200 meters for the championship leader, number 19, getting shuffled back.
02:29A great start though for Simon Lagerfelder.
02:32We've talked over the last few weeks about how his lack of podiums, four at the start, last four he's
02:38been off the podium.
02:39Looks like he's been a little bit off the pace as well.
02:42Not really sort of doing anything to sort of calm his anxieties.
02:46He leads away.
02:47Ferez though, a massive charge down the inside a moment ago as he moved into fourth with a move on
02:53that Yanis Raceless just through that little twisty downhill section.
02:56Yeah, a bit of impatience from Sasha Kunen there.
02:58Paul, obviously accosted that position.
03:00And then Ferez who's really looking fast this weekend.
03:02He is now working on Lata.
03:03And yeah, Ferez absolutely merciless in his passing so far today.
03:07And yesterday in fact.
03:09Great to see also Maxim Groh who sleeps in his own bed here because they have a flat very close.
03:14The workshop is down in the local town.
03:17So yeah, great to see Ferez with the Madi Honda Italia APF team working well.
03:25Langenfaule trying to make a break for it.
03:28The Ositschka KTM in orange.
03:31Haven't seen him since Germany when he rang his bell in the second race.
03:36Julius Michele but a good positive start here.
03:391.3 behind the defending champion.
03:42Lata already out of sight over the hill in third.
03:44Ferez trying to chase him down.
03:47That's the gap between them there.
03:48Look, the 99.
03:49Call of Duty graphics on the bikes this weekend.
03:53A worldwide thing.
03:54They were in AMA Nationals yesterday.
03:55Pro Nationals on the Triumph team there.
03:57They've got them over here this weekend as well.
03:59So that's why they're running a slightly different colour.
04:01Not black and yellow.
04:03Black and turquoise.
04:04Ah, back end stepping out of Ferez there.
04:07The 99 caught the bank.
04:09Maybe a rock in there or something like that.
04:11But he hit that thing.
04:12Back came round.
04:13Swung him to the left.
04:14Almost out the side door.
04:16Upper body strength really coming into play there.
04:18Maybe a little bit of luck as well for the Spaniard.
04:22Yeah, it looks good from a distance, that bike.
04:23Up close.
04:24It looks like the sort of thing that car manufacturers put on their machines to disguise the new bodywork.
04:28But yeah, it certainly looks good from a distance there.
04:30And Ferez has been one of the fastest riders all weekend.
04:33What can he do here against the popular Lata who will get the crowd behind him?
04:37Lata still hanging on to third on the number 18.
04:40HRC.
04:41Honda HRC Patronus machine.
04:43Two laps in the books.
04:44Fastest rider on track.
04:45Seymour Langenfelder, the defending champ and race leader.
04:48154, 561.
04:50Sacha Kunin.
04:52A little bit out of sorts at the moment.
04:54There he is, the number 19.
04:55He was blisteringly fast in the qualifying race yesterday when he picked himself up from that fall at Turn 1.
05:01Got himself to 10th by the opening lap.
05:03But the opening lap here is still circulating in that sixth place behind Janis Reislis and ahead of Matis Valin
05:09who has now moved ahead of Maxime Gros.
05:12Under the trees they go.
05:13Langenfelder leading the way on the way out.
05:16Mikola still there.
05:17Two seconds clear of this battle for third place.
05:19So breathing room for the rider from Czech Republic.
05:22He'll welcome that with both hands.
05:24Because it's pretty warm out there.
05:30Nice line, improvised there from the 99 of Ferreres.
05:35Timed it perfectly as well.
05:36Used the back to the outside.
05:37Just turned off of nothing.
05:39Just a little knuckle just to be able to change direction at short notice.
05:44And that's all he needed to find his way.
05:45Pass Lata and it's a third.
05:48He'll now try to chase down Mikola the Czech rider.
05:50Of course no stranger at the moment this year.
05:52He's been improving his career best steadily and steadily.
05:54His career best so far and his whole career was set at Trentino on this Italian half pack.
05:59Whoa.
05:59Sasha Kunin making the move.
06:01Kunin runs it down the inside of Janis Reislis.
06:05Picks him off.
06:06Those two went elbow to elbow.
06:08Elbow down here on the opening lap.
06:09And they're still at it again now.
06:11Three laps later.
06:13Kunin though wins out that time around.
06:15Now up in the fifth place.
06:20Kunin to the outside.
06:21Can he leave the door open enough for Janis to...
06:24Not quite.
06:25Valan chasing a little bit of dirt as well.
06:28See how quickly this circuit dries out.
06:29Once you get 32, 33 riders in and around this racetrack.
06:33Swipping and swapping and changing positions.
06:35Really does dry out very, very quickly.
06:37As you can see here going down past the pit lane area.
06:40Three laps in the books.
06:41Perez now the fastest rider on track.
06:4353, 76.
06:45Just saw a bit of elbow barging between Groh and Zanke there as they battled for a ninth place.
06:50The Ducati rider attacking the Madilla Racing Honda man.
06:53Everts up to eighth.
06:55Groh up to six.
06:56Sasha Kunin leaps his way past.
07:00Valerio Latta.
07:01And moves his way in the fourth position.
07:03Easily done.
07:04Now he's got a clear track to go and attack Guillem-Perez.
07:07Janis Reislis going through as well.
07:09Following the number 19 through.
07:13It's outside here, closest to the camera.
07:16Doesn't seem to be working too often at the moment.
07:18Latta coming back for the Latvian though.
07:22772.
07:23No pressure of his home Grand Prix to deal with this weekend.
07:27So feeling a little bit more relaxed out on track it appears.
07:30As he operates there in that fifth place.
07:32Latta under attack at the top of the hill.
07:35Ferez has found his way past Mikula into second.
07:38There's Kunin in fourth.
07:40Good effort from the rider in orange though.
07:43Three, four laps almost.
07:45In the books.
07:46But he's now being pushed back to third.
07:53I think there's a timing problem.
07:56Yeah, timing glitch.
07:56There's Langenfelder there.
07:58He continues to lead the way.
08:02Got that gap around about two, two and a half seconds.
08:05Ferez closing in though.
08:07That'll be the plan.
08:07There he is, number 99 in the background.
08:12Kunin already passed.
08:14Reislis.
08:18And Latta.
08:19Latta now down in seventh.
08:20Because Ballard also went through as well.
08:26Expensive lap that for the Italian.
08:27He had one of those yesterday, didn't he?
08:29Cost him a little bit of time.
08:31Anyway, we've not seen too much of this guy here over the last few races really.
08:35Number one.
08:36Pending champ, Simon Langenfelder.
08:38Mental KTM Factory Racing.
08:40Qualifying race yesterday.
08:4127th on the opening lap.
08:42Didn't even make a pass in the first couple of laps.
08:45Then he started a meteoric rise then up to that 11th place.
08:49But by then, the final three laps of the race, everyone else was done and dusted.
08:52Did not score any points in the qualifying race.
08:55Only for the second time this year.
08:56The last time that happened, Argentina round one.
09:00But doing a good job of leading.
09:01Just needs these laps up front.
09:02Where he can just try and control and dictate the pace.
09:06Dictate the race.
09:07He'll worry about Ferez when Ferez gets onto the rear wheel.
09:11We know that both are quite feisty.
09:13So there may, we may be just sitting here.
09:15I know it's a little bit early for Bonfire Night, November the 5th.
09:17But the fuse may get lit in this race.
09:21And it might be between those two.
09:23Yeah, it's time to get your sparklers ready.
09:25Because yeah, things could well kick off here very soon.
09:27Simon hasn't really been very hot on the circuit recently.
09:31Paul there.
09:31But I mean, seeing him over this weekend.
09:32He pulled a big old wheelie for our cameras in the start practice.
09:35I saw him almost grass tracking this morning trying to get into the parking.
09:38So he seems to be in good spirits.
09:40But he's just not been coming about out on track.
09:42And there, a little mistake.
09:43And Ferez, I feel Ferez is the danger man here.
09:46Well, I believe we're getting ready to go down a pit lane and to Red Bull KTM.
09:50Not sure if it's for the Langenfelder side, the Austrian side, or if it's for the Italian
09:53to Carly side.
09:54But I believe we are going to be going down there imminently.
09:58But as we go down a pit lane, this battle here between Langenfelder and Ferez is getting
10:03very, very tasty.
10:04Let's go down to pit lane.
10:07I'm just joined by Stefan Simpson here, technical manager of Red Bull KTM Factory MX2 team.
10:12Stefan, it's getting really, really close between Ferez and Langenfelder.
10:16Will he be able to hold on to that lead?
10:18Yeah, let's hope so.
10:19It's been a tough couple of weeks.
10:21A tough couple of GPs, but finally he's finding his rhythm again.
10:24So, yeah, it's definitely not going to be an easy race with the temperature and everything.
10:28So, in the sports, they can hold on to it.
10:31Stefan, it's been a tough few weeks for Simon.
10:33Yesterday was a tough one as well.
10:35Just tell us, has anything changed?
10:37Have you made any changes to the bike?
10:39Because he's doing what he needs to do right now up at the Sharp End.
10:42No, honestly, Simon's been sticking to his program.
10:45He believes in his program, he started with the beginning of the year.
10:48So, all in all, not much change on our side.
10:51Just hard work.
10:57What a move that was for Ferez, launched himself down the inside.
11:02He already committed outside, inside.
11:04Langenfelder had no idea that it was coming.
11:05We've got a new leader on lap six.
11:08Ferez, leading the way.
11:10Watch again here.
11:11Langenfelder gave himself a little bit of work to do.
11:14He drifted wide.
11:15Ferez, tucked in, used the front end as a berm.
11:18Didn't even look back, didn't even flinch.
11:21Firework fuse is still in the box for now.
11:23And there's no reply from the German as the Spaniard just getting his head down.
11:27And just thinking about one thing, one thing only, another race win.
11:31Hasn't won since that double race victory in France three rounds ago.
11:35Can he get another win here today?
11:37That horrible hole there is where riders are now just starting to kick.
11:41We saw it from Ferez earlier on in the race.
11:42He got another kick there.
11:43Langenfelder did as well.
11:45Look how quickly Sascha Kunin has closed in on these riders ahead of him.
11:49He's ditched.
11:50Number 20, Miko Elapago, as he moved into third.
11:53You see the pace from the Belgian as he's got himself right back into contention.
11:56Langenfelder there ahead of him.
11:57Same team, different camp.
12:02Langenfelder nicely turning through there.
12:04But his kind of pace, his intensity is missing at the moment.
12:09I'm not sure if the cold that he had in Germany is maybe even something sort of Epstein-Barr-ish
12:15or something like that because he doesn't seem to have the energy like everybody else does at the moment.
12:19Yeah, that would explain a lot, Paul.
12:20Like you say, he just doesn't seem to have the energy that he had in those first four rounds.
12:23Moving up the order somewhat, just out of shot here.
12:25Liam Evertz, who's been fast in every single practice session, he's been in the top three
12:29but has not been able to translate it to a race result.
12:31Now he's worked his way past Valam and Lata.
12:34So Liam Evertz, obviously a master of throttle control on this sort of surface, should be a threat.
12:39So sixth place, I don't think that's the ceiling for Liam.
12:41He could well be challenging right the way through to the end of the race.
12:45Yeah, Evertz, 1.3 behind Giannis Raceless.
12:49He'll be hoping to get his opportunity to advance into the top five and beyond
12:53with Mikola just ahead of them as well.
12:56Seymour Langenfelder, nice and clean through that bottom left, turn 14.
13:00Sacha Kunin trying just a little bit too hard.
13:03Look how it snakes its way around the hillside here.
13:06This Tuscan hillside, where is Perez?
13:09Well, Perez is already between the trees, turning right.
13:122.6 seconds clear.
13:14Here he is, just going past us.
13:15There's Langenfelder.
13:16Here's Sacha Kunin.
13:18Kunin only knows one way, doesn't he?
13:20All or nothing, flicks the switch, on or off, but at the moment he's very much on.
13:25Like I say, didn't make a great start, but when you get through the first corner, it's
13:28a better start than it was yesterday when he went down with Langenfelder, with Evans,
13:31with Mikola, with Perez.
13:33It wasn't a big crash, it was just everybody bunched up and tipped over each other on the
13:36inside.
13:37And Perez, from his perspective, he almost just leant on the bank, didn't he?
13:41So he was one of the first to get up, but it was Sacha Kunin who pretty much set the
13:45pace coming through the field yesterday in the qualifying race.
13:47Oh, so much aggression from the Belgian.
13:50Look at him whip it across there.
13:51He can be so fast that this line has been working for a few people.
13:55It's been pushed out there, Paul, hasn't it?
13:56He didn't get the drive there.
13:58Very loose, very powdery, but he's searching for all kinds of different lines here.
14:02If Langenfelder goes outside, he'll go inside.
14:03If he goes middle, he'll choose either way, left or right.
14:06This was the corner he felt in yesterday.
14:08He just spun around because the track had just been watered, drying out.
14:12That's too much of the rear end.
14:13Handful of throttle, probably two handfuls of clutch as well.
14:16Back end just nowhere to go, but spitting down on his ear.
14:19It was only a brief fall, though.
14:21But he knows he can't afford to sit too much behind Samuel Langenfelder
14:25because it's now Langenfelder, who's down in third in the championship.
14:29Ferez is the threat in the championship chase.
14:3138 points behind.
14:33He'll gain five if it stays like this, will Ferez?
14:37Because 25 for a win, 22 for second, 20 for third.
14:40Langenfelder goes defensive, doesn't want to fall for the same trick twice.
14:43And had Sascha Koonen not had that moment there,
14:47we may have just seen a change of position for second.
14:50Langenfelder lives to find another corner or two for now.
14:55Because Koonen is absolutely pushing the limits, the boundaries.
15:01Oh, almost out the front door there.
15:03Comes up short on the landing.
15:05That's how hard he's working, the Belgian.
15:09Respite then for the number one, Samuel Langenfelder,
15:11who's just riding in his own little, merry little world.
15:15Riding his own pace.
15:16Just saying, I'm here, pass me, go up the inside of me,
15:19go around me, whatever you want.
15:20I'm just here that I'm happy that I'm in.
15:22First, a moment ago, second now.
15:25Taking big points, more points than I've taken,
15:27especially after that fall that he had in Latvia race two.
15:31Big moment there, though, that and this one.
15:33Body language tells you all you need to know.
15:35Put it this way, you don't need a translator or a dictionary.
15:40Getting bouncing off the outside once again,
15:42a lot cleaner than it was a lap ago.
15:45But it doesn't take him long, does it?
15:47It's very, very tenacious, very bulldog-like.
15:49Once he sort of gets his teeth in,
15:51doesn't want to let go.
15:52That's the character of Sasha Coonan.
15:55Complete different riding styles between these two.
15:57Massively so, yeah.
15:58The accuracy against the aggression,
16:00and Liam Evertz on the move.
16:01Evertz gets around the outside of Mikula.
16:04Makes the pass stick for fourth.
16:06Mikula now down to fifth.
16:07Valant just behind.
16:09Has he found his way past Racialist?
16:11We'll soon find out as they hit the line here.
16:13No, no, Racialist still there in that sixth place.
16:15Valant behind, but great move that for Evertz.
16:17Around the outside.
16:21That's where the throttle control will come in.
16:23Yeah.
16:23His old man wasn't too bad at doing that, was he?
16:25He's only got the four victories around here.
16:27When it was in its old sort of guise, if you like.
16:31Certainly passed the old riding genes down to the number 26.
16:35And one mystery in this race, Paul, is the teammate to the race leader,
16:38Camden McClellan.
16:39Obviously, he's more of a sandman than a hardback rider,
16:41but down in 11th place still has not been able to make progress from there,
16:44and that's a bit of mystery,
16:45and that's hurting Camden in the championship table,
16:47because Liam will now be able to strike back at him.
16:49Yeah, well, what do you think Langenfelder was just nine points clear of McClellan,
16:53McClellan fourth in the title chase,
16:55and now goes out to, what, 11 points as it stands right now?
16:5821 points.
17:02So, a good race this for Langenfelder in that respect,
17:06keeping hold of that third.
17:08Of course, he'd like to be further up the standings.
17:10He'd like to be leading the championship at this stage,
17:12but you never know what we get in the second half of the campaign.
17:18It feels like it's stemming the flow of this,
17:20or stopping the rot, if you like, of these last four GPs
17:22where he's not been there,
17:24and even though Sascha has been attacking in relentlessly,
17:26he's been able to hold the Belgian back.
17:27So, yeah, Langenfelder, unfortunately for him,
17:29the wrong person is ahead of him.
17:31The guy that he's now going to try and take second of the championship back off,
17:34and that's the Spanish, we and Perez.
17:35What a ride at the back.
17:37Wall of death action there from the 19.
17:41There's Everts is closing in, you know.
17:43The gap was 3.2.
17:44He was quicker than Coonan last time around,
17:46and Langenfelder, Perez was a 52-3.
17:49Everts was a 52-3-2.
17:53Two thousandths difference last time
17:54as he found his way past Julius Michele into that fourth place.
17:58So, the danger man here potentially could be the Nostandas Varner
18:01of Liam Everts,
18:03because Coonan's still not able to find his way past Langenfelder,
18:06who's being very stubborn in that second position.
18:09That's these two here.
18:10But, Everts will just keep looking ahead
18:13and see that he's just getting closer and closer.
18:162.9 now.
18:17So, that's less than the 3-point whatever it was
18:19half a lap ago at the last split.
18:24See what the riders have to work with here.
18:26And it's a circuit unique to MX2, MXGP in the modern era,
18:30where circuits are so pampered and fluffed and watered,
18:35and, you know, you can almost grow plants over the weekend
18:37in some of the circuits.
18:39They're so lush and fluffy.
18:40This weekend, it's like Planet Mars.
18:43You know, nothing's grown around here in the last 20 years.
18:47The only thing that has sprung out of this place
18:48is a newly designed racetrack over the last 20 years,
18:51you know, where they use the hills in a different configuration.
18:54But those rocks are still there.
18:56You wouldn't get that anywhere else in the world.
18:58You certainly wouldn't get it in the US.
18:59You know, that's what makes MXGP so unique.
19:02Coming to places like this now,
19:03with that crowning rock,
19:05you get it somewhere in France as well,
19:06Saint-Jean, Ernais,
19:08we may get it at Fox Hills a little bit later on in the year,
19:10a few weeks from now.
19:13But, maybe this is just the warmer
19:15for somewhere like Fox Hills for these riders.
19:17Here's Michele hanging on to 5th in orange.
19:19Giannis Raceless chasing him around the outside.
19:22Valan on the Kawasaki,
19:23the qualifying race winner,
19:25going around the inside at the top of the hill.
19:29Valan, sorry, Giannis Raceless in time practice yesterday,
19:33looking for pole position.
19:34Grabbed too much front brake,
19:35going into that bottom right.
19:36Obviously, once bitten, twice shy.
19:38Heeding a little bit more caution there
19:39because grabbed that front brake,
19:41tipped him over, down on the shoulder.
19:43And that was a mistake that he does not want to repeat.
19:47Working our way towards the end.
19:49Of lap 10.
19:52Ferez over the line.
19:55Here's Langenfelder.
19:56Kunin was close a moment ago.
19:58Back marker between him now,
19:59though.
20:00Oh, he takes the back marker wide.
20:02Takes him wide,
20:03then looks to the inside.
20:04I gave you enough room.
20:06Didn't know it was Sacha Kunin.
20:08Reminds me of Namor, 1991.
20:11Cost me a race win that day.
20:13You're still not over it, yeah?
20:14Oh, no, but it just had flashbacks all of a sudden.
20:17Of course.
20:19Don't normally mention stuff like that.
20:21No, no, no.
20:21I don't know how Sacha's feeling.
20:23Yeah, that was right at a crucial moment
20:25because he was closing back in on the German as well.
20:28So looking tricky there.
20:29Not a great look for Valerio Latte.
20:30He's been passed by the private Honda of Maxime Grohn now.
20:32So grow up into eighth place,
20:33one of his best showings of the year.
20:35Growing in confidence, you could say.
20:37McClellan up to 10th.
20:38He's pushed Zanke down to 11th.
20:39What a flying start that was from Zanke, though.
20:41He took the last gate over on the right-hand side.
20:43He was almost facing the grandstand.
20:45That's how off to the right he was facing in that final gate.
20:48So if he just got over the jump
20:50and then relied on everybody else to run wide
20:52and just tucked in behind,
20:54the other place we see that sometimes is Rio Lasado.
20:58You know, where riders decide that,
21:00yeah, we're just going to hang across the back, you know,
21:02and make a move like that.
21:04Anyway, here's Evertz.
21:06Zanke has been passed by McClellan.
21:07So Camden finally showing up into the top 10 now
21:09and he's trying to catch it to Lata.
21:13Gap between them, 1.1.
21:14You would have to say,
21:15given Lata's sort of drop like a stone
21:17sort of technique in race one today,
21:21on a surface that you would expect him to excel at,
21:23you know, being Italian and all the rest of it
21:25and growing up on these types of circuits,
21:27there are absolutely plenty of these venues
21:30still in use all over Italy.
21:33Of course, getting that good start
21:34and then dropping down tonight.
21:36McClellan next on the shopping list.
21:40It's good for Evertz.
21:42Didn't give him enough kudos yesterday
21:43in the qualifying race
21:44as he wrestles with the back marker
21:46because he also went down on the opening lap,
21:48came around 22nd
21:49and then it wasn't until sort of,
21:51you know, sort of what,
21:52three, two, three laps later
21:53he gained another handful of positions.
21:55Then he got up to sort of 15th,
21:57stayed there for a few laps.
21:58Then again, another kickstart,
21:59another burst,
22:00got him to ninth
22:01just to get those two qualifying points
22:04to maintain points scored
22:06in the qualifying race
22:07on every occasion so far this year.
22:09I do like his line through those waves there, Paul.
22:11He goes outside to inside,
22:12gets a really nice run
22:13and then definitely making time
22:14on Sasha through there.
22:15Saw that yesterday,
22:16the line basically to the inside,
22:20the last two waves almost.
22:22You can double your way through there
22:23if you get it right.
22:24So you can really double,
22:25turn double
22:26and continue to double
22:27but a lot of riders
22:28single, single at some stage through there.
22:31But anyway, here he is.
22:33Two Belgians,
22:35Sasha Coonan third,
22:36Liam Evans fourth,
22:37he's chipped and whittled away
22:38at this advantage
22:39to the Red Bull KTM rider.
22:42Got him in his line of sight.
22:44Just spotted there, Paul.
22:45Yeah, Liam looks like
22:46it's an issue with his handguard
22:47on the left-hand handlebar.
22:49Looks a little bit lower.
22:50Yeah, it looks like
22:50it's flapping around a bit.
22:51Might be distracting for him.
22:52I think sometimes
22:54when you're in the zone
22:54and given the pace,
22:55we've not seen him
22:57wrestle with that handguard there.
22:59It's just, you know,
23:00he may have taken a big rock on there
23:02which then the handguard
23:03has done its job.
23:04He may have wrestled
23:05with another rider
23:06and it's just nudged its way down.
23:08Either way,
23:09it is there
23:09but I wouldn't say
23:10it's too much of a distraction
23:11right now
23:12because he's got his head down,
23:13he's chipping away at Sasha Coonan.
23:15Coonan just there
23:16tantalizingly close in third
23:18and Everts
23:19hasn't been in the top three
23:21since his first race in Italy
23:23which was Sardinia.
23:25Right, Zanke all the way
23:26over to the left
23:27as we look down.
23:30He went for the outside gates.
23:31Look, he swept all the way across
23:33and railed the outside
23:35as Sasha Coonan
23:36and Simon Langenfelder
23:38with the foxhole shot.
23:42And that was because
23:43Coonan just spun up
23:44too eager on the gas,
23:46didn't get the traction,
23:47didn't get the drive
23:48and he gave it to Langenfelder
23:49by about half a bike,
23:50maybe a bike length,
23:51something like that.
23:52So Simon Langenfelder
23:53with his second
23:56of the season so far.
24:02Looks like he's settled down
24:03at the moment
24:04since Perez has gone by
24:05and he's dispatched
24:06of the threat
24:07from Sasha Coonan.
24:08He's there still lurking
24:10but are we going to see
24:11a bit of a
24:11a reignition of pace
24:13now from Coonan
24:15because Everts behind him
24:16try and be the lead Belgian
24:17if you can
24:18even if you're
24:19the championship leader
24:20but you're not one
24:20everts coming by him.
24:23Maybe Everts just a little bit
24:24more throttle control.
24:26He is the smoother
24:26of the two riders
24:27so these circuit conditions
24:29not completely alien to him
24:31for instance.
24:31The comparison between
24:32the three riders
24:33going through that tight
24:34left hander
24:34was really apparent
24:35because Langenfelder
24:36had a little bit of patience
24:37got the inside line
24:38where it's smooth
24:39and was able to accelerate.
24:40Coonan just running
24:41slightly wide
24:41and then he skipped up
24:42and had to go on
24:43to a higher line
24:43and then Everts
24:44pretty much the same line
24:45as Langenfelder
24:46so that's the difference
24:47in little bits like that
24:48is where the smooth riders
24:49are maybe making their time for.
24:51Four race wins
24:52so far this year
24:53for Guillain-Perez
24:55on the Triumph
24:56racing MX2 factory team
24:58and machine number 99.
24:59Tell you what
25:00he's answered the call of duty
25:02for now hasn't he?
25:04Smart.
25:05Yeah it's definitely
25:06all the case.
25:07Ferez looks fantastic
25:08all the way through the practice
25:10here's a replay of earlier.
25:11Yeah that was
25:13Yanis raceless
25:13running down the inside
25:14and Coonan tried to get
25:15around the outside
25:16and then lost out to Ferez
25:17and that was a gift
25:18for Ferez
25:19because all of a sudden
25:21once he got past Coonan
25:22didn't have to wrestle with him
25:23a lap later
25:24was past Yanis raceless
25:25and then onto the rear wheel
25:27of Latta
25:28that put him into third
25:29that was lap three
25:30that was a good shift
25:31at the start of the race
25:32then Michele for second
25:33then he went after
25:34Simon Langenfelder
25:35didn't take long
25:36to get onto the rear wheel
25:37at the German idler
25:38and then when he made that pass
25:39he likes his part of the racetrack
25:40just made his decision
25:42turned
25:42got up the inside
25:43found a little bit of traction there
25:45used the front end of Langenfelder
25:47for traction as well
25:48happy birthday Manu
25:49another birthday gift
25:50in the pocket for the Italian
25:51is that his third birthday this year?
25:54no no no
25:54it's his birthday today
25:55nice one
25:57Ferez looking fantastic through there
25:59and McLellan now
25:59his team mate has passed
26:00both Hondas
26:01got past Lata and Gros
26:02up into eighth place
26:03as Camden finally
26:04started to make some progress
26:05but he's now four seconds
26:07behind Regilis
26:07that's the next man
26:08on his shopping list
26:09where's Carlos racing this
26:10after going down
26:11turn five on the opening lap
26:12he's got himself up into 14th
26:13so from 32nd to 14th
26:15that's also a good day
26:16or a good race so far
26:18for the other Latvian
26:19the older of the two brothers
26:22see the significant
26:24race line now
26:25starting to dry
26:26see the lighter surface there
26:27the polished rock here
26:28you know that if they put
26:29a little bit of water
26:30on that rock
26:30it's just going to turn it
26:31into a bit of ice
26:32so you know
26:33they probably won't touch
26:34those places
26:35but the shiny
26:35just hard pack
26:37they can sort of water
26:38that and track it in a little bit
26:39just to offer up
26:39a little bit of traction
26:40whether they will or not
26:41I don't know
26:42but look at the slingshot speed there
26:44he's got about 100 metres
26:45further around
26:45to gain about two centimetres
26:47in that exchange
26:48around that long sweep in left
26:50but he did gain a little bit more on that port
26:52because Langefeld was slightly held up
26:53by the lap rider there
26:54so Sasha with that aggression
26:55and that extra speed
26:56is now moving back up
26:57to the rear wheel
26:58of the defending champion
26:59mentioned a lap or so ago
27:00will there be an injection of pace
27:02once again from Sasha Coonan
27:04with a threat from Everts behind
27:05that's exactly what's happened here
27:06because Everts being left in the background
27:08Sasha Coonan
27:09almost left on his rear end
27:12I wasn't sure if I was going to say
27:15ear hole
27:16or another hole
27:17right there
27:18but
27:19almost dug myself a hole
27:21I thought you were going to
27:22I love the reaction from the crowd
27:23the big oh that was great
27:24that was really graphic
27:25that
27:25oh there it goes
27:27I had one of these yesterday as well
27:29save this one though
27:30both feet off
27:31he hasn't got the longest legs in the world
27:32bless him but
27:33you can tell he's aware though
27:34because he looked straight over his shoulder
27:35he knew Everts is coming
27:36back through the waves
27:40so Everts wheelie
27:41oh he spun up
27:42almost cased
27:44so it messes him up
27:45ever so slightly
27:46early on in the waves
27:47but it hasn't cost him too much time
27:50what have we got
27:512 minutes 20 to go
27:52plus 2 laps
27:53what are lap times actually
27:551.52
27:553.30
27:57for Guillem-Ferez
27:58fastest lap of the race
28:001.49 in the quality race
28:01and actually the track
28:02was a lot more beat up
28:02yesterday
28:03certainly coming out of
28:0412.13
28:05just to our left
28:06at the top of the hill here
28:07where
28:09Perez pound his way
28:10past Langenfelder
28:11go into that left
28:12and then that kink right
28:12there were some horrible
28:13bap bap bap
28:15accelerating bumps
28:16that where
28:17latter went down
28:18yes
28:18you know that same part of the track
28:19is a lot smoother through there now
28:21so
28:21don't seem to have the same kind of pace
28:24at the moment
28:24in the race track
28:25as we had yesterday
28:26which was a little bit more challenging
28:27I thought
28:28in terms of
28:28more physical
28:29more bumpy
28:30yeah
28:31what's surprising
28:32what's surprising
28:32is we haven't got this
28:331.9 scenario
28:34that I thought might develop
28:34and they put water down on it
28:36you tend to develop
28:36one line or another
28:37but at the moment
28:38there seems to be plenty of open racing
28:39they can really combat each other
28:40so this is good news
28:42through this dip here
28:43you see it's sticky there
28:45where they land
28:45and then dries out again
28:46hard and slick
28:47into this off cambered
28:48right hand turn
28:49the final corner
28:50on the racetrack
28:51where we rejoin
28:52on the exit of turn one
28:55still railing that wall of death
28:57at the top of the hill there
28:58Sasha Kunin
28:59going back after Langenfelder
29:00closes up on him
29:01in the braking zone
29:02Langenfelder hampered by traffic
29:04once more
29:05who will go to the left
29:06Langenfelder has to go to the right
29:07here and be defensive
29:09he's not
29:09he leaves the door open
29:10but guess what
29:11Langenfelder tries to
29:12cut back to the inside
29:13he can't
29:14he's going to have to go to the outside
29:15but as he does that
29:16and wrestles with all that loose dirt
29:18Sasha Kunin
29:19head down
29:19gone
29:20back behind the bar pad
29:21for the little number 19
29:25great bit of awareness there
29:28realised there was traffic ahead
29:29but Langenfelder
29:30just too hesitant
29:32we saw it from our position here
29:33as soon as that back marker
29:34came out of that left
29:35he started to move left
29:37Langenfelder went with him
29:38almost tied to him
29:39like a piece of string
29:40what I liked was the adjustment
29:41from Sasha Kunin
29:42the same corner
29:43where he slid out the lap before
29:44this time he didn't
29:45try to hug it so tight
29:46man slightly wide outside
29:48so he could get the traction
29:49without sliding
29:49and it paid dividends
29:51because he had all that drive
29:52down the hill
29:52and was able to dive up
29:53the inside of the champ
29:54great move from Sasha
29:55a top three is still
29:56on the cards
29:57for number 26
29:58in the starting
29:59as Varner rider
29:59Liam Evertz
30:01here's Cameron McClelland
30:02heading up Liquid Molly Mountain
30:04see that shiny line
30:05to the inside
30:05that is the most obvious line
30:08for riders on the other side
30:09of the Atlantic
30:10that have never ridden
30:10anything like this
30:11you're probably thinking
30:12how?
30:13you know
30:13it's just literally
30:14throttle control
30:15and just having confidence
30:16in your front tyre
30:17your rear tyre
30:18having that feel
30:19for the dirt
30:20you know
30:21none of this burn bashing
30:22throttle jockeys
30:23will get punished
30:24yes indeed
30:29the thing is
30:30riders will sit there
30:31and go
30:32well
30:33you know
30:33the good news is
30:34we're going to Italy
30:35it's going to be nice and warm
30:36it's not going to rain
30:37the bad news is
30:37we're going to Italy
30:38because it's going to be
30:38hard slick rocky
30:39and everything else
30:40the good news though
30:41to counter all of that
30:42by the time you get out of here
30:43this afternoon
30:44after two 35 minute races
30:46just starting to get the hang of it
30:48guess what
30:48we've got to go to Portugal next week
30:50indeed
30:50yeah
30:50Agatha is not soft
30:52and wow
30:53this is going to be a close battle
30:54because Yanis has been caught
30:55by Camden McLellan now
30:56Camden's taking his time here
30:57the South African
30:58but yeah
30:59reeling in
31:00Regulus
31:01doesn't quite seem to replicate
31:03that fast
31:04hard packed pace
31:05that he had
31:05when he took that race
31:06with a Trentino last year
31:07I thought that Camden
31:08had become the good
31:09solid all-rounder
31:11that we know he could be
31:12but yeah
31:12just a poor start
31:13in this one
31:13I guess Paul
31:14I think so
31:14and he made a top 10 start
31:16yes in the qualifying race
31:18saw him try to lunge
31:19at the top of the hill
31:20into that left-hander
31:21a moment ago
31:21on to Yanis raceless
31:22but didn't quite work out
31:23for him
31:24similar scenario
31:25to what we had a lap of go
31:26here with Kunin
31:26and Langenfelder
31:27both these riders
31:28having to go either side
31:29of the back marker
31:31both chose wisely
31:34maybe the most wise
31:35was the 772
31:36because he's maintained
31:37track position of 7
31:39but for how much longer
31:41McClellan
31:41down the gears
31:42and onto the rear brake
31:43as well
31:45as he goes through turn 8
31:46doubles his way in here
31:48he then goes
31:48sort of wheelie single
31:50he'll double out
31:51can he
31:51no it's too slick
31:52to be able to do that
31:53with any kind of
31:56efficiency
31:58but look at
31:58Sasha Kunin
31:59all of a sudden
31:59fastest lap of the race
32:00150.463
32:02Perez
32:03your race leader
32:03I know we've got
32:04two laps to go
32:06153.3
32:08154
32:08for Langenfelder
32:09so that was a massive lap
32:10for
32:14Kunin
32:15McClellan
32:16wrestling his way
32:18finally gets the job done
32:20had a few stabs in it
32:22through the couple of lefts
32:23at the bottom as well
32:25got alongside
32:25still had a lot of work
32:27to do though
32:27to make that pass happen
32:28eventually made it pay off
32:31McClellan
32:32now picked to 7th place
32:36had to make the adjustment
32:37there to get through
32:37past the lap rider here
32:38who's still slightly
32:39holding up Janis
32:40so any chance of a
32:41counter-attack from the
32:42Latvian has kind of
32:43evaporated four seconds
32:44nearly between himself
32:45and Mikulis
32:46and McClellan
32:46not sure if he's going to
32:47make any further ground
32:48than that
32:48and Everett's just
32:49tantalized even in a
32:50second of Langenfelder
32:51here they are
32:55one lap board being
32:56ready for Guillem
32:57Perez
32:57who's five seconds
32:58clear
32:58of Sasha Kunin
33:02Kunin was
33:02rapidly fast
33:03the fastest lap of the
33:04race
33:05a lap ago
33:06what is it this time
33:0752.8
33:08at the end of 17 laps
33:09for Perez
33:1054.05
33:12so it's just one of those
33:13let's see if we can
33:14throw everything at it
33:15and if we make some
33:16ground
33:16great let's keep going
33:17but if not
33:18then maybe let's just
33:19settle for second
33:20because Sasha Kunin
33:21didn't really make any
33:22time on that last lap
33:25and all of a sudden
33:25Perez now aiming for
33:27a 5th race win
33:28in 2026
33:30still not done here though
33:31Simon Langenfelder
33:33and Liam Everett's
33:35on that white
33:36Nostar and Husvana
33:39just looking to find
33:41that perfect rut
33:41here's Kunin
33:42he's in second place
33:45can't see Perez
33:46who's still 4.8 seconds
33:48further around the corner
33:49here he is
33:52it's been an absolutely
33:54majestic ride
33:55this from
33:56Guillem Perez
33:58fast in the free
33:59practice wasn't he
33:59fastest time practice
34:01he was third
34:04rapid coming through
34:05the field after falling
34:06at turn one
34:06yesterday in the
34:07qualifying race
34:07to get to second
34:09it's almost like
34:10Wicks
34:10as they say
34:11got his name on it
34:13yeah and Perez
34:14put himself in the
34:15shot window
34:15of course
34:15this has to be
34:16his last year
34:17in the MX2
34:18class
34:18so it's not
34:19circumfermed as to
34:20where he's going
34:20next year
34:21but rides like
34:21this
34:22would give him
34:23momentum
34:24and yeah
34:24next year
34:25work could be
34:26his oyster
34:26so I'm sure
34:27there'll be plenty
34:27of bids on the
34:28table
34:28for the Spaniards
34:29talents for next
34:30year
34:31one last look
34:32back
34:33still can't see
34:35Sasha Kunin
34:35in the rearview
34:36mirror
34:38he'll just cruise
34:39his way through
34:40the final couple
34:40of corners now
34:41downhill into
34:42turn five
34:46through turn six
34:48look how rocky
34:48it is through there
34:49as well
34:49turn six down
34:51past pit lane
34:51for the final time
34:52salutes the team
34:53as he goes by
34:54over the single
34:55over the monster
34:56energy finish line
34:57jump
34:57another win in the
34:58books
34:58Ferez wins race
35:00one here
35:00in Italy
35:03and wins it
35:04comfortably as
35:05well
35:06Sasha Kunin
35:07across the line
35:08second
35:08Langenfelder third
35:09Evertz two seconds
35:10further back in
35:11fourth
35:11and Valan
35:12well
35:13the rapid pace
35:14from the
35:15Kawasaki rider
35:16not here with him
35:17for now
35:17in race one
35:18but he didn't
35:20make the best
35:20start either
35:21but didn't seem
35:21to make too much
35:22ground
35:22fifth for him
35:23Mikola will hang
35:24on for six
35:25hopefully
