Microsoft will never include a phone number in an error message or call you unsolicited to fix your computer. If your screen is locked by a flashing alert or blue screen with a toll-free number telling you to call "Microsoft Tech Support," you are looking at a scam. Scammers use these fake warnings to trick you into giving them remote control of your computer or your financial information.
