As Western Australia continues to grapple with housing shortages, the state government is urging home buyers to consider alternative builds. And while Westerns Australian's have been hesitant to invest in anything other than double brick, the building industry says there may soon be no other choice.

00:02In the midst of a housing crisis, the state government says it's time for home buyers to consider all options.
00:09We really want West Australians to take modular as a serious choice.
00:17In the sign of the times, one of WA's biggest residential builders is now offering prefabricated homes.
00:25The overall construction period is only 12 to 16 weeks.
