00:50My memories of my grandparents' house
00:54are all very frightening, nightmarish memories.
01:03I dreaded going over there.
01:07I never felt comfortable.
01:10I always felt like someone was watching me.
01:14I was always on edge, waiting for something to happen.
01:19Lori didn't know how to explain to other people
01:22the sense of foreboding that the house gave her.
01:25I remember I was in the house,
01:29sitting in the living room,
01:30and I heard someone laughing upstairs.
01:37I knew there was no one up there,
01:40and I didn't see anyone,
01:42but I could feel like there was someone there.
01:59The laugh itself didn't sound like a happy,
02:04funny, that was a great joke kind of laugh.
02:07It was more of a sinister,
02:11I'm going to get you kind of laugh.
02:17Lori wasn't the only one who was sensitive
02:19to the atmosphere in the house.
02:21Her cousins noticed it too.
02:23When it was not nice outside,
02:26we would be sent into the basement to play.
02:34The heater was in the far back corner,
02:38and as long as I can remember,
02:40we would joke with each other
02:43that that's where the ghost was buried.
02:47Because next to the heater,
02:49there was a depression in the floor.
02:53It was a very old kind of linoleum floor over dirt,
02:59and that part of the floor kind of sunk down lower
03:03as the house settled,
03:04and it was the size and shape of a grave.
03:07It was very creepy.
03:12Up until now, Lori had just been a visitor
03:14at her grandparents' house.
03:17But that was all about to change.
03:20My parents divorced,
03:21and we moved to my grandparents' house.
03:25I was already not happy
03:27because my parents divorced,
03:31but the thought of having to live in that house
03:35was like my worst nightmare coming true.
03:38I felt like I was being sentenced
03:40to, like, some kind of long prison sentence.
03:45When we moved there,
03:47I noticed that no matter what time of year it was,
03:51there were certain areas in the house
03:53that were always freezing cold,
03:56one of them being my bedroom.
04:02It didn't make sense
04:03because my room got all the morning sun.
04:06It was on that side of the house.
04:08So it should have been bright, cheerful,
04:11and really warm.
04:13But it wasn't.
04:16Lori tried to ignore the strange experiences,
04:20but they continued.
04:21There was this old rocking chair.
04:28I would hear a noise.
04:32And I'd look over,
04:34and the chair would be moving back and forth,
04:38and back and forth.
04:43And then it stopped,
04:46like dead stop,
04:47just like someone put their feet down on the floor.
04:53And then I would look back at the chair,
04:57and it would be rocking.
05:01The air in the room just got that feeling
05:05like something was about to happen.
05:11I hated that chair.
05:14That chair just gave me absolute creeps.
05:18And if I got up to go tell my grandmother,
05:21it would stop.
05:31My grandmother was a very religious person,
05:34so we had a lot of pictures throughout the house
05:38of religious themes.
05:40Now, I specifically requested and wanted a picture
05:44of the Blessed Mother in my room.
05:48I was hoping that it would lessen the appearances
05:53of whatever it was.
05:55But that would not happen.
05:58The picture literally fell off the wall.
06:06The nail was still in the wall,
06:08so it didn't fall out of the wall.
06:11It was lifted off the nail.
06:14The hook was still in the picture,
06:16still intact.
06:19I would be getting dressed for school in the morning.
06:21I would take my clothes out of the drawers.
06:23I'd push the drawer back in.
06:25I'd put my clothes on.
06:26I'd turn around.
06:27All my drawers would be open.
06:29I'd push them back in.
06:31I'd go to the bathroom.
06:33I'd come back in my room.
06:35All the drawers were open again.
06:36My personal belongings would always be moved, misplaced.
06:42My mother and my grandmother would tell me
06:45that it was my imagination
06:47and that I needed to stop all this nonsense
06:51because I was scaring the younger kids.
06:53A spirit can pick and choose most of the time
06:56who it wants to communicate with.
06:58And sometimes it will find people
07:02who are more open to see it.
07:04And I've always found out, you know,
07:06in my travels of investigating
07:09that children are more susceptible to seeing spirits.
07:15And chances are that child has seen something
07:19that your average person aren't able to see
07:23or at least don't want to see.
07:29Things got much more intense in my room specifically.
07:42I started to hear scratching in the walls.
07:48Like someone was stuck in the wall and trying to get out.
07:55Like intense scratching.
07:58And I would feel like there was someone right over my back.

08:32right over my back and you would feel like you could not breathe when that
08:39would happen like it would take all the air out of the room it was a suffocating
08:44kind of feeling it scared the life out of me I was sure I was gonna die it
08:55eventually kind of receded back towards the bottom of the bed so far only Laurie
09:10had experienced weird phenomena but that would soon change at one point I was
09:17about 16 or 17 I hadn't invited one of my friends to stay over because we were
09:24out and he had missed the last bus home so I said you could stay in my room and
09:28I'll sleep on the sofa he came downstairs in the middle of the night and we'll
09:33never forget this woke me up where I was sleeping on the sofa and he said I'm
09:38walking home I cannot sleep in your room he said that he woke up and there was
09:43something dark like right over him and he said he swore it was going to like
09:51smother him or do something to kill him when that happened then I knew I was
10:01like okay it's not me I'm not crazy this is really actually happening because I
10:08never told anybody that and for someone else to come down and say exactly what
10:15happened to me it I mean it was scary but I was in a way happy because I knew that
10:23was the moment I knew I wasn't crazy
10:30my friends and I decided that we would try to find out more about who it was and
10:36what it was trying to do we decided to use a Ouija board to try and contact the
10:43spirit in the house it started to really move more I guess purposefully F R we had
10:55asked for a name and we seemed to be speaking to a woman who called herself Fran
11:08one of my friends got really scared and didn't want to do it anymore so she left the circle I
11:16wondered
11:17if Fran was the woman who I had heard laughing on different occasions and the one who was opening the
11:26drawers Fran said that she had lived in the house she indicated that she had committed suicide if you
11:37were somebody that conjured up spirits or you were into you know magic or whatever you were doing and it
11:45was of negative influence and then and now you go into somebody else's house and a spirit would see you
11:52as um as a threat one night I was asleep and something had woke me up there was a woman
12:05just standing there
12:08and then I saw that she had a rope in her hand and she was just staring at me
12:33and she was putting the noose around her neck and pulled it
12:50I was moving towards the edge of the bed and when I got to the edge of the bed and
12:57went to put my legs
12:57over she picked her head up I lifted the rope off of where it was and stepped down
13:08I was so completely overcome with terror I took off down the stairs
13:39after several horrific experiences Lori Hull was desperate to escape the terrifying spirits in her home
13:56and I looked at my grandparents room which was downstairs and I started yelling for them to wake up
14:04and she said they're not going to wake up I put them to sleep
14:13Lori was so scared she stayed awake all night
14:18my grandparents were awake in the morning I asked them if they had heard anything last night
14:24they said no
14:25the next day she knew she needed to find help
14:29I was really overwhelmed by what I had experienced
14:34now one of my friends um knew all the things that had been going on in the house
14:40her mother belonged to kind of like a spiritual study center
14:47and when I told them the story they were all just silent
14:51now they felt that the spirit that was in my house was not a human spirit
14:59they felt that it was a more of a demonic kind of spirit and there are specific ways for dealing
15:06with
15:06that and they did caution me to not try to communicate with it and gave me different methods for trying
15:16to protect myself spiritually
15:21it was still there but it didn't touch me
15:26it didn't do as many things and as soon as I was 18 I was out the door of that
15:33house
15:33so when I moved to my friends were moving to Virginia Beach and I was gone
15:39you know I'm still trying to recover from what I experienced in that house
15:46I think I will be haunted by those experiences for the rest of my life
16:03when there is more than one witness to a paranormal event
16:07it can prove that the experience is genuine
16:10but when the phenomenon is truly terrifying
16:13multiple witnesses provide little comfort

16:33this is the first time I've really publicly told a story
16:39I met Marsha
16:41actually she was a waitress who worked for me at a restaurant
16:45as the time went on we you know became friends and we started dating
16:53it would take at least an hour with traffic to go see her
16:57so that was getting pretty old we discussed him maybe renting something up this way towards me
17:04so he wouldn't have to have that long drive at night after he would leave you know my house
17:09I was still living at home we found a home that was for rent in Mount Tabor
17:15actually was a roommate wanted type of ad and my roommates were only there during the week
17:23so it worked out perfectly for us because he was very close
17:26he didn't have to sleep on my parents couch
17:29Frank settled into his new home and was excited about his relationship with Marsha
17:36four to five weeks after I moved there
17:39I was in the living room and the curtains started to flutter
17:52the house was an old house but we had put the plastic on the windows
17:56we kind of hit with a hairdryer to seal them tight
18:01there was no reason why the curtains would flutter because the windows were sealed
18:05and then the temperature really dropped a lot
18:07and I could see my breath and it's almost like I was walking into a cold spot
18:13when dealing with anything to do with cold spots you have to be careful
18:18first thing you do is you definitely do a temperature check to see what the readings are
18:23what we look for in a cold spot is an extreme drop
18:26so you're in a house it's 65 degrees and then within three seconds of taking another reading
18:33it drops down to 45 then you have something
18:36spirits will definitely drain a lot of energy rapidly
18:40and we usually find out to be somewhere around that 20-25 degree droppage that we could probably
18:49pretty well guess it's paranormal
18:51I could not figure out what it was where it was from
18:54I could not explain it away I tried
18:57I looked at everything that would possibly cause it
19:01vents anything
19:03and I could not explain it away
19:07and that wasn't the only strange occurrence
19:15I would be in my room and I would hear the radio go on downstairs
19:21and you could hear the channels changing
19:24it was an old dial stereo and you could hear the channels changing
19:29it would stop on a big band type channel like 40s music
19:35and I'm like who's playing 40s music
19:38so I'm looking around I'm on the second floor
19:41I check my roommate's rooms they're not there
19:44so I start to go downstairs
19:47and as soon as I get close to downstairs the music stops
19:50it turns off
19:54I went back upstairs and I just
19:58started thinking that something is going on here
20:01a few minutes later I'd hear the radio go back on again
20:12opening the phone
20:13and I'd go back downstairs again
20:15and as I went downstairs it would go off
20:24when I was in my room
20:26watching TV
20:27there would be some knocks
20:30and some bangs
20:32sometimes some scratches
20:34and then I would hear almost like voices
20:36like talking
20:37mumbling
20:40and I kind of like
20:42I was listening to my TV
20:44and I heard it off behind me
20:47like in the hallway
20:48so I turned off my TV
20:50and it would be a faint mumbling
20:51so I thought maybe somebody was home
20:53so I went out to the hallway
20:54and there was no one there
20:55it stopped
21:05the activity started getting
21:07a little bit more intense
21:10we had a landlord
21:11and the carpeting at home was very old
21:14and we had tried for months
21:15to try to get the landlord
21:17to pay for the recarpeting
21:19the downstairs
21:20he finally said yes
21:21and he had to recarpet it
21:25after he had to recarpet it
21:26things started getting a little bit more intense
21:29spirits have a hard time with change
21:32if that spirit lived there
21:34at one time
21:35and it got renovated
21:36it still feels like it's there
21:38especially if that energy
21:40is still hanging around
21:41that specific location
21:43Frank no longer ignored
21:45the strange events
21:46but he was curious
21:47about his housemates
21:48and whether they had
21:49similar experiences
21:51I didn't see my roommates a lot
21:53we would like
21:53two ships passing at night
21:55so we didn't have a lot
21:56of communication
21:57and I never really said
21:59anything to them
22:00when I did see them
22:02hey how you doing man
22:03how's it going
22:04how's everything

22:06there was a moment
22:07where my roommate Greg
22:08was in the kitchen
22:09so we're kind of talking

22:11that type of thing

22:19what did you see
22:21all of a sudden
22:21I see him look
22:22with a glance up
22:23with his eyes
22:24past my shoulder
22:25like he saw something
22:29and I said to him
22:30I said what's the matter
22:32he says well
22:33I saw a shadow
22:36go up the stairs
22:37I said thank god
22:39it wasn't just me
22:41it always helps
22:43to have other people
22:44validate what you see
22:45or what you think you see
22:46you know
22:47it helps you
22:48because as an investigator
22:50you kind of lose
22:51that sense of investigating
22:53when something happens
22:54because you want to believe
22:55that the supernatural exists
22:57or you want to believe
22:58that that particular home
22:59or where you are
23:00is haunted
23:00so when you can get
23:01two or three people
23:02validating that
23:03it definitely helps
23:04in a case for
23:06paranormal activity
23:12with confirmation
23:13that the others
23:14were seeing the same thing
23:15Frank finally confided

23:23I didn't believe
23:23any of it
23:24because I was a big skeptic
23:25and I
23:27I really didn't
23:28I just really didn't

23:29so I just kind of

26:37so I went downstairs

26:40because in the root cell
26:41is where the breaker
26:42circuit breakers were
26:47found the breaker

26:50as I'm doing this
26:51it got very cold
26:53I feel something
26:55behind me
26:58this red
26:59these red
26:59two red lights

27:05for those storm
27:06cell doors
27:06that opened up
27:07into the backyard

30:55you'll feel a breeze

30:57blows by you
30:58or maybe something
30:59moves
31:00or a curtain
31:00or an object
31:01just to let you know
31:02that they're there
31:03they will use that
31:04so it's typically
31:05just another form
31:06of communication
31:07and a manifestation
31:08of energy
31:11but Cheryl's search
31:12for answers
31:13would only bring
31:14more questions

31:19the bedroom
31:21and then I felt
31:22something
31:22brush against
31:24my leg
31:25and so
