00:03on the right is dumbbell side presses from last night and on the left is barbell side presses from
00:09tonight you can see the dumbbell how the shaft is pointed more towards the camera versus the
00:15barbell is completely behind me okay so I'm gonna have a lot more rotation already done
00:23with that barbell before I get started the dumbbell allows me to do a lot more moving around of the
00:30torso and as we're gonna see a lot more moving of the arm trying to get under the weight you
00:38can see
00:38the dumbbell is already turned quite a bit from pointing towards the camera to now being pretty
00:45much in line with the barbell the direction of the barbell which is still pretty much where the barbell
00:52was from where it started so it's definitely interesting how much more rotation you can get
00:57of the implement affecting the movement so now the dumbbell has rotated about 135 degrees
01:06and that barbell is pretty much the same as when it started which means I have to get a lot
01:12lower
01:14I have to pull myself down and or and or push away from that barbell and so the dumbbell is
01:21really
01:23mobility-wise doing a lot less work in the area I want of the quadratus lumborum on the right side
01:31and the glute medius on the right side
01:35so now the dumbbell has rotated all the way around to the other side remember the dumbbell is 71 and
01:41a
01:41quarter pounds whereas the barbell 78 pounds not a huge difference really but that barbell is still
01:48at the same angle so the manipulation to get under it to get the center of gravity in line the
01:55center
01:55of gravity the weight with the center of gravity of me I'm going to have to bend further to get
02:01where I want to be versus with using the dumbbell so the barbell version has me going much lower I
02:11do
02:12realize that the timing's a little off at this point the dumbbell I did lock out a little bit lower
02:17than what
02:17is shown here but I want to show the lowest part of the barbell side press which is much lower
02:24because
02:25no rotation or very little rotation meant I had to bend down further to get under that weight so again
02:32this goes back to implements that weigh the same don't necessarily act the same and it's just food for
02:39thought it's not that one is good one is bad it's just which one is giving me what I want
