00:05Repentance After God's Own Heart
00:08David got comfortable. When he got comfortable, there was room for the enemy to distract him
00:14and get a foothold. David ignored counsel from his friends and went all in on a selfish sin
00:21to boost his ego. When the Lord made David aware of his sin, David's response is what
00:27makes him a man after God's own heart. It is tempting to make excuses for our sin.
00:33To justify it, to negotiate with God on why your sin was not disobedient. David looks to his father
00:40and says, I messed up. He tells God what he did and he is grieved by it. Not just that,
00:48but he then
00:48owns the sin and the consequence for it. In our sin, we must be like David, the man after God's
00:55own heart. As scary as it is, we must own our sin and bring it before the Lord, despite the
01:02consequences. When we bring our sins to him and turn from them, he will forgive us and remain
01:08faithful. Apply. How does this text apply to you? How can you use what you've learned? What do you
01:16need to change about your heart? How can the text help you share the gospel?
01:21Praise God for something he taught you during your reading today. Repent to God about any sin
01:29that is in your life. Ask him for whatever you may need. Yield and give him control of all things.
