00:00If David Stearns is safe with his job right now, which we're going to take Steve Cohen at his word
00:06that he is, does that make the deadline more important because this is now fully his, meaning David Stearns reset?
00:15Look, man, Stearns, you're here driving the ship.
00:19You've got to reset things here.
00:20You got to get things right.
00:22You have to hit.
00:23You got to cook at this deadline.
00:25Well, we thought he cooked last year at the deadline, and boy, were we wrong.
00:27But this is a different kind of cooking this year.
00:31Do you look at this deadline differently, Wardy?
00:33Are you kind of like, well, let's wait and see.
00:36David Stearns is not going anywhere immediately for the New York Mets.
00:38He will at minimum be their president to begin the 2027 season.
00:41So knowing that and understanding that, knowing that the keys are still going to be very much held by him
00:46and the balls in his court, it's imperative that he's able to rebound after what was such a failure of
00:50an offseason.
00:51This is now the perfect time for him to write his runs to the best of his abilities.
00:56The Mets can easily position themselves where they can head into 2027, where, yes, they're going to be without a
01:01lot of the current players on their roster, per se, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing with everything that
01:06continues to go right for this club.
01:08If you have a rod and core or just something that's not looking good, ideally, you'd like to change that.
