00:00Minnesota Governor Tim Walls is being blasted after the state's Board of Pardons
00:04granted clemency to an illegal immigrant convicted of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.
00:09The board, made up of walls, Attorney General Keith Ellison and State Supreme Court Chief
00:14Justice Natalie Hudson, approved the pardon last month for 42-year-old Tao Li Vang.
00:19To be clear, this effectively wipes his criminal record completely clean,
00:24and the record was, to put it mildly, bad. Vang pleaded guilty in 2006 to first-degree
00:29criminal sexual conduct after admitting to repeatedly abusing the child over a period of
00:34years. And according to court records, and this part will really make you lose your mind,
00:38he also offered the girl money to keep quiet about the abuse. Ten bucks. His legal status in the U
00:44.S.
00:44was revoked after his conviction, and he was going to be deported to his native Laos.
00:48The Department of Homeland Security slammed the pardon, saying, quote,
00:52Governor Tim Walls' decision to pardon an illegal alien convicted child rapist
00:56so he can remain in our country is disgusting. These are the criminal illegal aliens he and his
01:01Minnesota sanctuary politicians are protecting. In his pardon application, Vang argued that he had
01:06accepted responsibility for his crimes and had rehabilitated himself over the last two decades.
01:11Now, as of this recording, the governor's office hadn't yet commented on the decision.
