00:00Should those guilty of violence on January the 6th, 2021 be pardoned or not?
00:05If you ask someone like Senator Lindsey Graham, he'd say,
00:08I should think those guilty of violence should not be pardoned,
00:12but many others would probably say they should be within the ranks of the GOP.
00:18How united is the party on this particular issue, do you think?
00:21I think there was something the party could rally to, it would be this,
00:24which is I have been involved in pardons before when I was running the West Wing,
00:28is that it should not be a blanket approach.
00:32Any attempt at a blanket clemency, a blanket pardon for everybody,
00:36just wave the magic presidential wand and everything goes away,
00:40will be perceived as trying to sweep the events under the carpet of history,
00:44and I don't think that would serve the country well,
00:47I don't think it would serve the Trump administration well,
00:49I don't think it would serve the Trump legacy well.
00:51If Donald Trump chooses to look at pardons and clemency and so forth,
00:55he should do it in a way that is case by case.
