00:00This holiday weekend is going to be a high impact one weather wise. We've got sweltering heat and also strong
00:06thunderstorms. There's a payoff. Those storms bringing some relief, but they're going to get in the way of a lot
00:11of outdoor activities. Some of the parades, fireworks displays and so forth. Look at Friday's acuweather real field temperatures 114
00:17in Harrisburg, over 110 in many areas into the Susquehanna Valley down through eastern Virginia. Some areas sweltering with acuweather
00:25real fields over 110, 114 degrees. Actual air temps. We're looking at
00:29record highs in D.C. again on Friday at 102 degrees, likely tying a record high in Norfolk. Charlotte should
00:36break a record of 101. And some of the storms that break out late in the day, they're going to
00:40be scattered, but they will be intense, driving rainfall, lots of lightning, gusty winds, the big concern. So one big
00:46headline this weekend, thunderstorms are going to interrupt some of your plans, but they will bring relief to the east
00:51gradually. Saturday, more record heat on July 4th in Raleigh and also places like Richmond, but storms will become more
00:59numerous
00:59late in the day. Moderate risk of severe weather in and around New York City. That's two out of four
01:04on our scale. That's going to get in the way of some of the fireworks and we'll have also more
01:09storms for Sunday as the heat begins to break.
