00:00Mr. President, well, let me begin on behalf of all Canadians, welcoming President Marcos back to Canada.
00:09He has been here several times to enjoy Canada, and now he's here to work.
00:15And we're very grateful for this visit.
00:19More than one million Canadians of Filipino heritage.
00:24Very close and deepening defense, security, economic ties between our nations.
00:32The President's leadership of ASEAN in a critical year, a critical time for Asia, for the world.
00:42And really a trailblazer in terms of sharing the same values, building together, and setting
00:53the world on a path towards peace and prosperity.
00:56So, a few words in French, Mr. President.
01:00It's a great pleasure, in the name of all Canadians and Canadians, to welcome you here in Canada,
01:06in your official post, the President, and the President of the group of ASEAN.
01:15It's a great pleasure.
01:17We will have discussions on defense, security, economy, and cultural exchanges.
01:24And I'll finish that and pass to you.
01:26I also should mention the deep cultural ties and what we've benefited from your great nation
01:35and how we will continue to benefit.
01:36And one of the things that we will focus on is how to tighten those ties.
01:43Tremendous opportunity, and now is the time to do it.
01:47Thank you again, Mr. Prime Minister.
01:49We would like to thank, of course, the Prime Minister and all Canadians for the very kind
01:55and the very hospitable welcome that you have accorded us, all the wonderful preparations
02:01you have done for us, and my delegation.
02:05And it is a timely visit because of the increasing engagement of Canada, not only in the Indo-Pacific,
02:12but in Asia and in Asia in general.
02:14And those are elements that we hope to further discuss.
02:19We work from a very solid basis in our people-to-people relations and the growing number of Filipinos
02:29who work and live in Canada, approaching a million now.
02:34And that is a very firm basis because of the way that Filipinos have been accepted and assimilated
02:46into the Canadian society.
02:48And for that, we are very grateful.
02:50And that is what we hope to build on and make stronger and deeper after this visit.
02:57Thank you, Media.
02:57Thanks, everyone.
02:58Thank you, Media.
02:59All right.
02:59Perfect.
03:00Okay, thank you.
