00:04So ladies and gentlemen, given the challenges, challenging geopolitical and economic fluctuations,
00:12how can Malaysia navigate itself in an increasingly uncertain, undependable, and transactional world?
00:22How do we uphold our agency and advance our interests?
00:27So first and foremost, Malaysia's foreign policy will remain independent, and that is fiercely independent, proactive, and non-aligned.
00:39This is not merely clinging to the past, but a calculated and deliberate approach,
00:45which considers who we are, where we came from, what served us well, and how we need to adapt.
00:55We will not hesitate to adopt positions, cultivate relationship, and support initiatives that advance our values, beliefs, and interests.
01:06Malaysia, on the other hand, cannot remain neutral on matters that involve fundamental rights, such as the Palestinian struggle,
01:16or encountering Islamophobia, or on our core national interests, including territorial sovereignty,
01:25even when it comes to powerful partners, like China and the United States of America.
01:32We remain in touch, we engage aggressively, we maintain our strong bond of friendship,
01:41and we realize that peace and prosperity should be in the forefront while protecting our national security.
01:53Therefore, we take a principled stance and positions, and not sit, not take sides.
02:03Easier sit than done.
02:05You are familiar with this.
02:07We are expected sometimes to take strong positions, particularly against our neighbor, China, but we have said, no.
02:16Now, we will take a principled stance, we will continue to cultivate friendship.
02:24As you know, Malaysia, still registering trade and investments, number one, with the United States,
02:33but we remain aggressively and engaging more effectively with China,
02:41which is growing economy and an important neighbor to us.
02:45So, these include our unwavering support for the resolution or peaceful resolution of disputes
02:53in accordance with international law.
02:56Because the use of force or coercion, military or economic,
03:02will only compound resentment and unintended consequences.
03:08Our norms, like the freedom of navigation, respect for sovereignty, adherence to established legal frameworks,
03:15are essential for regional and global security.
03:20So, on that score, Malaysia reiterates our commitment to multilateralism
03:27and collaborative, consultative approaches in the conduct among nations.
03:33We do not just support such mechanisms and approaches.
03:37We endeavor to do what we can to defend it.
03:41We need to defend it.
03:50You
