00:10This is Business Lion Uzbekistan. Hello and welcome!
00:15Across the country, small-scale businesses and family initiatives are becoming a key source of income, especially in rural areas.
00:23The government aims to reduce poverty from 5.8% to 2.8% by the end of this year,
00:31while lowering unemployment from 4.8% to 4.5%.
00:36More than 260,000 low-income families are expected to receive support to build sustainable livelihoods.
00:44This is how it's taking shape on the ground.
00:47On the road to Pastargan district in Samarkand, travelers often stop for pichak, a traditional local dish.

01:16In Joel Qosim Mahalla, services like this are becoming an additional source of income alongside farming and small-scale production.
01:39Agriculture remains central to rural livelihoods, but it's increasingly supported by targeted programs.
01:46Across Uzbekistan, over 900 vulnerable mahallas have access to nearly 100,000 hectares of land, subsidies and modern irrigation systems.
01:56Farmer Olmas joined Juraiva expand his greenhouse and added pick-keeping, creating income from multiple sources.
02:22In southern region of Surkandaria, livestock farming continues to play a major role with strong traditions and steady demand.
02:30It supports both household income and local food supply.
02:49These efforts are part of a broader shift to bring economic activity closer to communities.
02:55The Mahalla system is now at the center of this approach, with local authorities helping residents access loans, land and
03:02training.
03:22By supporting small-scale initiatives at the local level, Uzbekistan is aiming to build more stable and self-sufficient communities.
