Cocaine capitals: Where is use rising the most in Europe?

Spain's Barcelona, Lleida and Santiago de Compostela report the highest increase in cocaine wastewater residues, with other clusters also expanding in Denmark and Slovenia.

00:00What are Europe's new cocaine capitals?
00:06Cocaine is the most widely used illegal drug in Europe after cannabis. In a new report by EUDA,
00:13the EU's drugs agency, Norway and the Netherlands showed the highest consumption rates. At least
00:182.9% of adults in those countries took cocaine in the last 12 months before the study was finalised.
00:25France came next with 2.7%, followed by Spain and Ireland.
00:31The rates are significantly higher among younger people, aged between 15 and 34.
00:38Norway and the Netherlands came out on top again, followed by Ireland.
00:42Bear in mind that these percentages are purely based on survey answers.
00:47While looking at cocaine residues in wastewater, the picture shifts a bit.
00:51The highest levels were mostly recorded in Spanish and Belgian cities.
00:55Ida, Antwerp, Granada and then Amsterdam, Liège and Brussels.
