00:05Welcome to MojoPlays and today we're speculating wildly. No, no, wait, wrong script. Today we're
00:10talking comfortably about things we know. These are 10 things we know about Final Fantasy 7
00:15Revelations. Maybe tomorrow we can speculate. Let's go. Before we continue, we publish content
00:20all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to get notified of our latest videos.
00:27Yuffie's Wutai Questline
00:35Back in the OG Final Fantasy 7, it was entirely possible to reach the credits without spending
00:39much time with Yuffie at all, and Vincent for that matter. Yuffie was optional after all and plenty
00:43of players either missed her or ignored her side content. The remake project has taken a very
00:48different approach. Rather than being a bonus character tucked away on the sidelines, Yuffie
00:53has been pushed into the spotlight with an expanded role and a much larger presence in
00:57the main story. Based on the footage shown so far, Wutai looks set to become a major location
01:02filled with exploration opportunities and dedicated gameplay sequences. Her acrobatic movement abilities
01:07appear to be returning as well. Meanwhile, Vincent Valentine seems poised for similar treatment,
01:12with elements from Dirge of Cerberus potentially influencing his storyline. If that happens,
01:16expect plenty of drama, deep lore, and brand new content that never existed in the OG game.
01:25Menu Portraits
01:29Among all the big gameplay reveals and visual upgrades, one of my favorite touches
01:33is something surprisingly small. The redesigned interface includes character portraits that closely
01:39resemble the ones from the OG game, but they've been recreated using detailed 3D models rather than
01:44Tetsuya Nomura's traditional artwork. It's a clever way of modernizing the presentation while still
01:49preserving a familiar part of the classic experience. The portraits appear throughout menus and combat
01:54screens, helping the whole interface feel like a tribute rather than a complete replacement.
01:58Little details like that tend to go unnoticed by casual players, but long-time fans immediately
02:03pick up on them. Thanks Square Enix, we see you seeing us seeing you.
02:07Sorta reminds me of when we picked flowers for the leaf house.
02:11Introducing a class system.
02:12To further augment your combat capabilities, try this on for size.
02:17One of the biggest strengths of the Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
02:20was how each game expanded the combat system instead of simply repeating what came before.
02:25By the time synergy abilities were introduced, players were encouraged to actively swap between party
02:30members and coordinate attacks rather than parking themselves on cloud and matching the same commands
02:34the entire battle. It made encounters feel far more tactical, particularly on higher difficulty
02:39settings. Naturally, that left me wondering how the next game could possibly add another meaningful
02:44layer. The answer appears to be the FITS system. Based on the gameplay footage, characters can equip
02:50different jobs and influence their ability skills and even their appearance. With four classes seemingly
02:54available per character, the amount of experimentation could be really huge. I'm also hoping the outfits
03:00come with alternate versions, because fashion clearly isn't taking a back seat this time around.
03:04Take up your buster sword. Equip your materia and stand together.
03:09Sid.
03:15With Final Fantasy VII Revelation serving as the conclusion to the remake trilogy, it has the
03:19difficult task of resolving years of character development while also giving several party members
03:24their moment in the spotlight. Two of the biggest beneficiaries appear to be Vincent and Sid, both of whom
03:30are expected to receive far more attention now that they're fully playable. Sid is particularly
03:34interesting, because his portrayal in the OG game could be pretty rough around the edges, depending on
03:39how you were raised. And how nice your dad was. That's too dark. This time, however, the director has
03:45suggested players will see a different side of him. Because Rocket Town has been moved to the latter half of
03:50the story, developers have more room to explore his character before arriving there. Hamaguchi,
03:55the director, has described Sid as a respected figure within his hometown, someone admired by the local
04:00community. Definitely not my dad.
04:17Gameplay Details
04:28There's a bunch of new details around the gameplay, and I've only got about 100 words to break it down.
04:33Here we go. The remake trilogy's hybrid combat system remains intact, letting players slow things down and
04:37make tactical decisions when things get hectic. New additions, like the Fitz system, as we discussed
04:41before, appear to take inspiration from classic job systems by changing abilities, playstyles and outfits.
04:46Vincent Valentine is fully playable and can transform into monstrous forms, while Sid finally gets to
04:51unleash his iconic dragoon-inspired aerial combat. Synergy abilities are back and Knights of the Round
04:56have been confirmed, and that's a lot of fanservice. And honestly, I'm here for it. One of the biggest
05:01additions is the Return of the High Wind, which players will use to freely explore the world map.
05:06You'll even be able to parachute out of the airship and drop directly into locations below.
05:10Queen's Blood is also returning, Snowboarding is reportedly in development, the infamous Tifa vs Scarlet
05:15Slap Fight has become its own minigame, and hell yes, goodbye time and friendships.
05:20At any moment in the open world, simply pilot the High Wind to your destination and take a
05:24leap of faith. No more bloat.
05:27Oh hey, you're back. I heard you might need some help.
05:31For all the praise heaped upon Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, one complaint came up again,
05:35and again, and again. There was simply too much to do. Between the huge number of minigames,
05:41side objectives and open world distractions, some players felt overwhelmed long before reaching the
05:45end of the adventure. It seems Square Enix has been listening. According to director Naoki Hamiguchi,
05:51Final Fantasy VII, Revelation is taking fan feedback into account and making adjustments to
05:56avoid that feeling of content overload. Rather than endlessly piling new activities onto the map,
06:01the team is looking at ways to make exploration feel more focused and rewarding. That's not to say
06:06optional content is disappearing altogether, but the goal appears to be creating a better balance
06:11between meaningful discoveries and busy work.
06:19Where do we start?
06:34One question fans have been asking ever since Final Fantasy VII Rebirth ended is whether the next game
06:39would jump ahead in time or dramatically alter the structure of the original story. Based on comments
06:44from the director, that doesn't appear to be the case. While he hasn't outright spelled everything out,
06:49the signs point towards Final Fantasy VII Revelation picking up almost exactly where its predecessor
06:53leaves off. In the OG PlayStation game, the journey continues from the Forgotten City toward Icicle
06:59Inn, and Hamiguchi has specifically referenced that progression when discussing the sequel's opening.
07:04Of course, the circumstances surrounding the world are far more dire than a simple change of location.
07:09Meteor has already been summoned, hanging ominously over the planet, and the weapons have awakened in response.
07:22Where can we go?
07:27You'll descend seamlessly from the sky above to the ground below.
07:31One of the most exciting promises surrounding Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the sheer scale of the world.
07:36With the high wind finally under player control, it sounds like we'll have access to almost the entire planet,
07:41even if the story inevitably places restrictions on certain regions until the right moment.
07:46Familiar destinations such as Midgar and Gungaga are expected to return, but the real excitement
07:51comes from locations fans have been waiting years to revisit.
07:55Wutai will finally take center stage alongside Yuffie's expanded storyline, while Medill and Rocket Town
08:00are both set to make long-awaited remake debuts. There's even been teasing of an underwater region,
08:05which opens the door to all sorts of possibilities. Midgar's return is particularly interesting.
08:10Rather than recreating the city exactly as it appeared in Final Fantasy VII Remake,
08:15the developers are taking a different approach. Naoki Hamaguchi has explained that players won't
08:19be freely exploring every street and slum sector this time around. Instead, the city has been
08:24redesigned to suit the later stages of the story, likely leading into the iconic Midgar raid from the
08:29original game.
08:35We can't change a thing.
08:38Guided by calamity, one man sought dominion through reunion.
08:44Few parts of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth generated as much debate as its ending. While the game was
08:49widely praised by both critics and players, the final chapters left the community sharply divided thanks
08:54to their handling of one of the most iconic moments in video game history, and some people were confused.
08:59The remake trilogy's ongoing flirtation with alternate timelines and reality-bending twists
09:04has been a sticking point for some fans, particularly those hoping for a more straightforward
09:08recreation of the original story. Despite the mixed reactions, Square Enix has no intention of changing
09:14a thing when it comes to story. The broad outline for the trilogy's conclusion was established long
09:19before either remake had ever been released. While the exact points where each game would end
09:23evolved during development, the overall destination is unchanged.
09:33The weapons are canon.
09:40The weapons have always been some of the most intimidating creatures in the world of Final Fantasy,
09:45but Final Fantasy VII Revelation looks ready to make them a much bigger part of the story.
09:50In the original game, only a couple of these colossal guardians were mandatory encounters,
09:54while others existed as optional challenges for players seeking a serious test.
09:58This time around, Square Enix is taking a pretty different approach. We've already seen what appear
10:02to be ruby weapon, sapphire weapon, ultimate weapon and even a glimpse of diamond weapon emerging from
10:07the planet's surface. If those appearances are anything to go by, the weapons may become central story
10:12threats rather than optional side content. What's particularly interesting is the footage showing
10:17the party battling a smaller weapon-like creature that has been restrained by multiple turrets before
10:22the heroes rush into attack. That raises all sorts of possibilities.
