00:00Hey Shloan brothers and sisters, welcome back. I appreciate you tuning in to my shows and
00:06videos. Today I want to talk about seductresses and seductors. They're all around us and it
00:15takes great character, strong character to resist those wiles, you know, those advances
00:23with whatever agendas are behind them, you know. I mean, sometimes it's for position,
00:30power, money, or just anything really. But I want to share with you a story of Joseph
00:38and Potiphar's wife. And we could find that in Genesis chapter 39. Now, as you recall,
00:45Joseph was sold into slavery. His brothers put him in a pit. He was going to kill him.
00:51They decided he was going to sell him to some local Midianites who went by. So they sold
00:58him. He went down and he was actually sold to Potiphar, who was, you know, he was in a
01:05position of power in Egypt and he became his servant. So Joseph was down there and I'm going
01:11to pick up the story here. Potiphar had a wife and this wife apparently didn't have no moral
01:19character or anything. So I'm going to start with a chapter, chapter seven, read on. And
01:26if, uh, if you have your Bibles handy, you could follow along with me or you study this
01:31later, but here we go.
01:50So he's saying, you know, the master trusts him enough to run his household and do his duties and
02:00everything. And he couldn't betray him, but he actually, he also couldn't betray, betray, uh,
02:06you know, Yahweh. He couldn't betray, you know, his father, uh, Israel, you know, because Israel is
02:11a man of impeccable character. So he couldn't, he couldn't do it. There is none greater in this house
02:18than I, neither hath he kept back anything from me, but thee, because thou art his wife.
02:25How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against Elohim? So he's pointing out, you know,
02:33how's he going to, he ain't going to, he ain't going to do a wickedness or something evil in the
02:38eyes of Yahweh. And it came to pass as she spoke to Joseph day by day, and he hearkened not
02:46under
02:46her to lie by her or to be with her. So she was basically sexually harassing him, you know, I
02:53mean,
02:53you know, he was a slave, so ain't no, you know, sexual harassment, labor laws or anything back
02:58then. Plus it's, you know, he's a slave, he's a slave and she's a woman of, uh, you know, power
03:04and prestige and whatever privilege. And it came to pass about this time that Joseph went into the
03:10house to do his business. And there was none of the men of the house there within. And she caught
03:16him by his garment saying, lie with me. And he left his garment and her hands and fled and got
03:23him
03:24out. So he basically didn't think twice about it. You know, this, this boy, this boy was a, he had
03:30strong, strong faith and, you know, self-control and everything. He didn't even think twice about,
03:36you know, what, what, you know, what his options were. He fleed and he left a coat in her hand
03:41and that come back bite him in the butt later on in the storyline. But it came to pass when
03:48she saw
03:48that he had left his garment in her hand and was fled forth that she called onto the men of
03:55her
03:55house and spoke unto them saying, see, he has brought in a Hebrew unto us to mock us. He came
04:02in
04:02unto me to lie with him. And I cried with a loud voice. So she's basically now she's so mad
04:09that he
04:10turned, you know, turned away from her advances. And now she's going to blame him for, you know,
04:16Joseph for, you know, trying to sexually come onto him. And it came to pass when he heard that I
04:23lifted up my voice and cry that he left his garment with me and fled and got him out. And
04:29she laid up
04:30his garment by her until his sovereign came home, which was Potiphar. And she spoke unto him according
04:37to the word saying, the Hebrew servant, which thou has brought unto us came in not to me to mock
04:43me.
04:44And it came to pass that I, I lifted up my voice and cried that he left his garment with
04:50me and fled
04:50out. Probably more like he was the one yelling, trying to get away from her. He probably is the one
04:55screaming. And it came to pass when his master heard the words of his wife, which he spoke unto him
05:02saying, after this manner, did thy servant to me, that his wrath was kindled. And Joseph's master took
05:09him and put him into a prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound. And he was there in
05:15the prison. But Yahweh was with Joseph and showed him mercy and gave him favor in the sight of the
05:21keeper of the prison. And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand, all the prisoners that
05:28were in the prison and whatsoever they did there. He was in the doer of it to keep her of
05:36the prison.
05:36Look, not to anything that was under his hand because Yahweh was with him and that which he did.
05:43Yahweh made it to prosper. So he got thrown in prison for something he didn't do because this
05:50crazy woman, crazy woman wanted him. And then she was offended because he wouldn't sleep with her.
05:57And so she just created a lie, you know, and that's, that's a grave, grave sin, you know, I mean,
06:03to purge her and lie and get somebody locked up for 20 years or whatever longer. It was, it was
06:10wrong
06:11for her to do that. But she, she was so privileged, you know, she thought she can get everything she
06:15wanted, but Joseph wasn't having it. You know, I mean, you know, Bible, Bible doesn't say how old
06:23the woman was. I mean, if she was old, young, she was attractive or not attractive. I mean,
06:29but the point is, you know, Joseph had, had the right character and the right mentality. He was,
06:35you know, raised up very well, the do's and don'ts, you know, of life and, you know,
06:41God, it might got him in trouble in a shorthand. But as you know, the story, the story is, and,
06:45uh, I've, I've, uh, got it, got it on another video of Joseph. If you want to, you know, check
06:52it out about Joseph interpreting, uh, Pharaoh's dream and what happened to him where he was blessed
06:57beyond measure and how he saved not only Egypt, but he saved the civilized world of famine and
07:03stuff like that. But, um, yeah, that's just a story that needs to be told because that stuff
07:10happens has happened, you know, back then it's happened throughout time, you know, uh, slander
07:15and stuff like that, you know, and, and, uh, you know, Joseph is a shining example of what
07:23a real man should be. You know, he should have self-control. He should, he should, he should
07:29not be impulsive. He should have the will power, the willpower to, you know, control himself,
07:37you know, and he's, you know, he took his, he took his feet and he hit the rocks, you
07:44know, if you know what I mean. But, uh, anyways, he didn't hit them very hard, but anyways, that's
07:50all I wanted to say about that. So, you know, please study up on that. And the whole, the
07:54whole story about Joseph, you know, um, what he did when, uh, his brothers come down, you
08:00know, to buy food and he recognized them and how he's reunited with his father and his youngest
08:05brother, Benjamin. It's an inspiring and touching story. That's all I really wanted to say about
08:11that. And, uh, again, thank you for, you know, tuning in and everything. And, you know, please
08:17comment below. Let me know you think about the story and, uh, the character of Joseph. Please
