The US administration on June 26 said there would be further response from the US military to Iranian attacks on ships transiting in the Strait of Hormuz though the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran on ending the Iran war still holds.

Fewer vessels transited the strait than earlier this week, hours after a Taiwanese-operated ship was fired on by Iranian forces.

00:00Well, thank you very much.
00:01We just got back from a wonderful group of people, faith, and freedom.
00:21On Iran, Mr. President, you said that Iran violated the ceasefire.
00:26Will they face any consequences?
00:28We'll find out.
00:30Do you consider the ceasefire to still be in place?
00:32I don't like the fact that they took a shot yesterday, actually four.
00:36We knocked down three at a ship.
00:41Not an allied ship, but a ship, a very expensive ship, and it was fine, but it took a little
00:48beating.
00:49They shouldn't be doing that, so you'll find out.
00:51Sir, why do you think they did that if the talks, you've said repeatedly they're going
00:55well.
00:55What do you think the motivation is for Iran in attacking a ship?
00:58They're a little bit different.
01:00That's why I think of it.
01:0147 years, no president did what we're doing.
01:06So you just asked the question, you'll find out.
01:08We'll find out.
01:17We'll find out.
01:22We'll find out.
01:28We'll find out.
01:32We'll find out.
01:37We'll find out.
01:40All the information.
01:40I'm working currently diligently with several parties in conversations from the countries
01:48in the region, the membership of the organization, and particularly Oman, the United States, and
01:53Iran, in order to find these guarantees that were provided at the beginning that vessels
01:58will not be targeted and that flow of trade will continue particularly to evacuate the seafarers.
02:06And as soon as I get further confirmations of that, we're ready to reinitiate the process
02:13of evacuation.
02:14My first priority is the evacuation of the seafarers.
02:18The next priority, which is in line with the MOU, is, of course, the demining of the
02:23Strait of Hormuz.
02:23Then we need to address aspects of comments that have been raised in relation to the management
02:29of the Strait of Hormuz and how that can be improved for the future.
02:34But all this is also linked to the conversations that go beyond the remit of the organization,
02:39which is in relation to the technical aspects of implementation of the MOU.
02:44So I prefer to focus on the first steps, make the necessary progress, and that would allow
02:48us to reach the goal that we all want, which is to resume operations in the Strait of
02:53Hormuz to the pre-conflict.
