SEWA International TT says that several of this country's leading supermarket chains have joined in what the organisations calls the Venezuela Earthquake Relief Campaign.

However, SEWA TT says that campaign shall focus on "financial contributions to ensure that assistance is targeted, timely, and responsive to the evolving situation."

00:00CWTT has announced that in response to the devastating earthquakes that have struck northern Venezuela,
00:06it has launched the Venezuela Earthquake Relief Campaign to mobilize financial support for affected families
00:12as emergency response and humanitarian efforts continue.
00:16And CWTT emphasized that rather than collecting unsolicited goods at this stage,
00:21it is focusing on financial contributions to ensure that assistance is targeted, timely, and responsive to the evolving situation.
00:30The announcement was made following the attendance of CWTT at a meeting of the public and private sectors
00:36led by Foreign and Caracom Affairs Minister Sean Sobers
00:40and Rural Development and Local Government Minister Khadija Amin on Friday
00:44for a collaborative relief effort for the people of Venezuela.
00:47CWTT said that several of Trinidad and Tobago's leading supermarket chains have joined this humanitarian initiative.
00:54CWTT said that members of the public can make financial contributions at the checkout counters
00:59of participating stores, Extra Foods Supermarket, all locations, Better Deal Supermarket, all locations,
01:07West B's Supermarket, all locations, S.S. Passard Supermarket, all locations,
01:12Low Cost Supermarket, Canupia, MS Food City Supermarket, Deby, Chase Mart Supermarket, Chase Village.
01:20CWTT advised that customers wishing to contribute simply need to inform the cashier that they would like to donate
01:27towards the Venezuela earthquake relief campaign and that their contribution will be added to their bill
01:33with all proceeds going directly towards CWTT's earthquake relief efforts.
01:38CWTT said it is actively liaising with authorized agencies and humanitarian partners to determine
01:45the priority needs of those affected and will procure and deliver relief items based on official assessments.
01:52CWTT said this coordinated approach will help ensure that donated funds are used efficiently and effectively
01:59to provide the greatest possible benefit to the people of Venezuela.
