Transport operators are increasing rail services and providing dedicated park and ride facilities ahead of The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Visitors are being encouraged to plan journeys early as heavy traffic is expected.

00:13Mosey Rail says extra services will operate on the Southport line at the busiest times,
00:17serving Hillside Station a short walk from the course entrance.
00:22Commercial bus services will also continue throughout the championship. Organisers,
00:27the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Transport Partners,
00:31say the plans are designed to help visitors and residents to travel smoothly.
00:36Drivers are urged to plan ahead as roads are expected to be busy
00:39and public parking might be unavailable nearby.
