00:00Across the Liverpool City region, a range of regeneration, transport and public realm projects are continuing to reshape town centres,
00:07waterfronts and residential streets.
00:09Questions have been raised over the future of Woodside Ferry Village in Wirral after the lease held by Wirral Chamber
00:15of Commerce was forfeited,
00:17with Mersey Travel taking back possession of the Woodside Ferry Terminal site while legal and regeneration processes continue.
00:24A notice issued at the site confirms the lease has been forfeited and that possession has been reverted to the
00:30relevant authority,
00:31with access restricted while legal processes remain ongoing and longer-term plans for the ferry terminal are considered.
00:38A spokesperson for the combined authority said the matter forms part of an ongoing legal process and is not appropriate
00:45for further comment at this stage.
00:47On Southport's Lord Street, traders and residents have described ongoing challenges including empty units,
00:53reduced footfall and concerns about antisocial behaviour, alongside council-led initiatives aimed at supporting regeneration and encouraging more activity in
01:03the town centre.
01:04Plans supported through government and regional funding are in place to restore Southport Pier,
01:08while Sefton Council has also highlighted a wider programme of events and initiatives intended to increase visitor numbers
01:15and support local businesses along the seafront and surrounding streets.
01:19In Hale Ward, a large-scale mural commissioned by Knowsley Council is taking shape on a community hub building,
01:25reflecting local history, cultural references and public contributions gathered through consultation with residents.
01:32The artwork, developed with input from a public engagement process,
01:36features references to landmarks, industry and notable figures connected to the area,
01:40and has been created by illustrator Stuart Harris,
01:43who's worked on a range of commercial and public art projects.
01:46In Liverpool, a six-month experimental scheme set to introduce designated pavement parking bays on Walton Hall Avenue,
01:54aimed at addressing long-standing parking pressures linked to football match traffic around nearby stadiums.
02:00According to council papers, the proposal would formalise existing informal parking in certain areas
02:06while maintaining pedestrian access and aiming to improve safety for residents, pedestrians and road users.
02:14The trial will be introduced through an experimental traffic regulation order,
02:18with marked bays intended to keep a minimum clear footway for pedestrians,
02:22including pushchairs and wheelchair users,
02:24while regulating informal parking that's developed in the area.
02:28Preparatory works are due to begin on the Marine Lake Events Centre project in Southport,
02:33with the development forming part of a wider regeneration scheme,
02:36supported by government and regional investment.
02:39The scheme has seen changes in contract arrangements and has been the subject of political scrutiny,
02:44with the council maintaining that it remains committed to delivering the venue as planned.
02:49Together, these developments highlight the scale of change underway right across the region,
02:54across both urban centres and coastal towns.
