00:00Morning. It's the Andy Summer Show. Morning. Morning. How's everybody? Hello. We're doing great. We good? We good? We good?
00:06How are you doing? I'm doing well. Thank you. Yeah. So let's bring everybody up to speed on my cancer
00:11journey. Yes. So back at the end of April, gosh, was it? I was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer,
00:19invasive lobular carcinoma. It's the second most common breast cancer, but still only 10 to 15 percent of women who
00:27have breast cancer have this particular
00:29kind. Oh, God. Most people have it in their ducts. Right. I have it in my lobes. Oh, interesting. I
00:35just had an AC guy out yesterday working on my air conditioning. So yeah. So you get it. You get
00:40it. It's the same. It's right. Yeah. So he has to be very careful. Yeah. Yeah. He works around him
00:46all the time. So yesterday I had the privilege and honor of having lunch with a local celebrity here in
00:56Philadelphia. Her name is Sue Serio. Oh, no.
00:59And she does weather on our local Fox affiliate, Fox 29. And Sue is also a breast cancer survivor. She
01:06was diagnosed in 2024. And so we just were trading notes. It turns out that we have the same surgeon.
01:13Oh, no way. Wow. So cool. Yeah. She also let me know that like while I thought I would have
01:19to take two weeks off, I'm getting a double mastectomy in just a couple of weeks. I was taking two
01:25weeks off and then I thought, well, we'll reconvene. She took two months off.
01:29Wow. Wow. So right. So yeah, she was like, yeah, there's no shot. You're going to be ready in two
01:35weeks. So just make sure your team knows that. And luckily, like you guys have been amazing. Our company has
01:41been very accommodating. I know not everybody is in that situation. And I'm really blessed that that you guys have
01:47been really understanding through all of this. But it's on an aside, Andy, like, I think that's the beauty of
01:54we goof off. Donnie makes fart noises. We have a lot of fun on the air.
01:57But like the beauty of what we do for each other. When I was off last week. Yeah. My fake
02:02paternity leave that I took for myself. Right. Like there was no question. And then I had to take an
02:08extra day. You guys were like, yep, you're good. Yeah. Be home with the babies. And it's going to be
02:12the same for you. Like there's going to be no hesitation. No doubt. No whatever you need. Right now. You're
02:18in Andy era. You need to think about Andy. You're not worried about the summer squad. You need to get
02:23better. I know. And that's so unlike you. Yeah.
02:25And don't worry, because we can still text you and Donnie can still send voice memos to you. So those
02:32farts will be coming in. Don't you worry. Honestly, I mean, take as much time as you want. Like, of
02:37course, like, I'm scared of you. So I'm going to say yes. That's a good point. I am intimidating. I'm
02:44taking two months off. OK, I know. Because I'm scared of you. Yeah, sure. You will beat me up.
02:49So I have been taking this very seriously, obviously. Right. It's cancer. Right. And I refuse to be afraid to
02:56say that word because I think it gives it too much power. So I am like, I wear it like
03:01a badge. Yes, I have cancer, but it doesn't have me. I am in charge of this.
03:05You have a cancer. Because I went to get my mammogram on time. I made sure that we caught it.
03:10And so I encourage so many people to go. If you haven't made that appointment, early detection saves lives. Do
03:16not wait. Please make that appointment.
03:17I've heard from countless people who have said, you inspire me to make my appointment. One woman actually found ductile,
03:26invasive ductile carcinoma from her mammogram that she went to get because she heard me talking about my journey. Right.
03:34So please make sure. Right. She's going to be fine. We're going to be fine like this because we caught
03:39everything so early. But so, excuse me.
03:44I've been taking this really seriously because I know the recovery is going to be really tough because it's it's
03:49there. You're like ripping your whole body apart. Right. Like this is it's not going to be easy, but I've
03:54been working out a lot. I've been trying to keep myself really fit.
03:57So one of the things that Sue was talking about yesterday is that the YMCA offers this Livestrong program for
04:03cancer survivors. So you get a free membership to YMCA. And I don't know that it's all of them. I
04:08might be participating YMCA's, but you get a free membership.
04:12And she said she even got like a trainer, somebody who took her off for 12 weeks, showed her all
04:18the machines, showed her all the classes, showed the right.
04:20So she went with a group of other cancer survivors and they kind of did this together for 12 weeks.
04:26And it inspired her to start taking more classes and things like that at her local Y, which is amazing
04:33because being healthy is going to prevent bad things from happening to you.
04:37And trust me, when you go into a gym and you don't know what you're doing, me, you need somebody
04:43to show you around and make it less intimidating.
04:45So the fact that they offer that, too, is so cool.
04:48I know. I love this. Right. And there are there are YMCA is all over the place.
04:51Yeah. So I just love this. It's a Livestrong program at the YMCA.
04:56So if you are a cancer survivor, you're up for it. Like so, you know, you should check it out
04:59and see if it's available near you.
05:00That's so special. Well, Andy, we're sending you prayers. I know you feel the prayers of the summer squad.
05:05I do. My latest scan show that the only night and this shocked my oncologist.
05:10The only cancer in my body is found in my breast, in my left breast.
05:15They did not think that was the case. So they were really surprised.
05:18But I know that I got that good scan. I know that I'm in much better shape because of all
05:22the prayers that are coming my way.
05:24And I cannot thank you enough for them.
