Among the 2+ million extremely poor residents of Santiago, Chile, some families face impossible hardship with the arrival of a new baby. As a result, children are sometimes passed around to other families, or join other orphans on the streets of Santiago, some as young as 6 years old. Their risk of sexual abuse can be very high, as they often engage in prostitution and drug use to survive on their own, homeless and alone.
