00:00And we're ready to rock on another day of the Heat, unofficially having Giannis Antetokounmpo.
00:05And I'm sure that was a weird spot for you last night, Solana, because no one cares about the draft
00:09picks
00:09because the draft picks that they're making, Nate Ament, isn't really their pick.
00:13At least they let the kid go to the podium at the Barclays Center when he did speak to us.
00:18I was in Brooklyn last night for the draft wearing the Milwaukee Bucks hat.
00:21But who cares about the draft when you got Giannis Antetokounmpo?
00:25It was the weirdest experience, Gelby, I've ever had doing one of those shows
00:30because the Heat are picking 13th, and literally we could not care less
00:34about who the Miami Heat were going to end up drafting.
00:37It was just like Tobin and I were there, and it was one of those things
00:42where the Heat themselves weren't talking about Giannis because it's not official
00:47and they can't talk about it.
00:50And literally nobody wanted to talk about the 13th pick.
00:53It was bizarre. It was fun, by the way.
00:56The vibes were good. People were jacked up.
00:58It's been a while since you walked around that building,
01:00and people were genuinely hyped up and excited for the upcoming season,
01:05but still a little just unusual, a little unorthodox.
01:09You were like at a baby shower.
01:11Everyone knows what's coming.
01:12You don't want to say congratulations yet, and you hope there's no complications.
01:16We hope that whatever happened with the Ravens and Max Crosby
01:20doesn't happen with the Heat and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
01:23I think Solana would go to heaven or hell, something like that,
01:26if this trade does get rescinded.
01:28But everyone knows that there's a big event coming,
01:31and you're just waiting until July 6th for it to be official.
01:34However, I do have one big concern.
01:37One big concern about this.
01:39Here we go.
01:39And I'm not having buyer's remorse.
01:42This is the right move for the Miami Heat.
01:44But last night, you see a nice, wonderful thing.
01:48Vegas is playing New York with the Liberty,
01:51and Asia Wilson is on the Aces, Bam Adebayo's girlfriend, right?
01:56And Giannis and Bam are together.
01:58They're walking out on the court.
02:00And Solana, you think that's like a beautiful moment and a wonderful moment.
02:04And it's like, oh, look at these teammates.
02:06They're already interacting together.
02:07This is going to be the next one-two punch, right?
02:09Splendid moment last night, correct?
02:11It was just filled with aura, is exactly what it was.
02:15Totally filled with aura.
02:17Big problem, though.
02:18Why is that?
02:19The Aces lost the game.
02:21So I have to ask you, is Giannis Antetokounmpo a bad luck charm already?
02:26Or him and Bam are going to have issues?
02:28Well, let me double-check what Asia Wilson's stats were last night,
02:33and then I'll let you know if he's a bad luck charm.
02:35Because the New York Liberty are a quality team,
02:37I don't know how much of the WNBA you pay attention to.
02:40Asia Wilson, ooh.
02:4216 points last night.
02:447 of 18 from the field was 0 for 3 from 3,
02:47which is actually very fitting,
02:49because right now the Heat have no shooters.
02:51And they couldn't even use Asia Wilson,
02:52because she wouldn't help whatsoever.
02:54Yeah, but 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals.
02:57That's a stat line.
02:58That's a Giannis-type stat line, Galby.
03:00It is.
03:01So is this just basically putting it out there?
03:04New York, Miami, they meet up
03:06in a big game down the road in the NBA playoffs,
03:09and does the same outcome happen
03:11where the Liberty and the Knicks get the victory
03:13and the Heat do not?
03:15I don't know.
03:16I saw some guy already run the entire simulation
03:19on NBA 2K next season.
03:22Oh, yeah.
03:22Guess who the Miami Heat defeat in the first round
03:25in five games?
03:26Those stinking Knicks.
03:28Are you guys the 7th seed?
03:30Yeah, because Giannis got hurt, knock on wood,
03:32early in the season.
03:33So the Heat ended up being the 6th seed.
03:35The Knicks were the 3th seed.
03:37Nah, I mean, that video, Galby,
03:39where Bam and Giannis are walking out of the tunnel,
03:43and they're headed to their seats,
03:45that was cool.
03:47That was a really, really cool thing to see yesterday.
03:50I also didn't realize that Giannis was already back here.
03:53Like, I didn't know where he was.
03:55I think there was a report that he was on his way back
03:57to the state.
03:57That he was on his way back, yeah.
03:58Yeah, but you just, like, you hadn't seen him yet.
04:00I wasn't sure, Galby,
04:01if he was going to show up to the arena last night
04:03and kind of just poke his head out and then dip.
04:05Like, I don't know what the rules are there.
04:07Yeah, yeah.
04:09But to already go with Bam to the game,
04:12that shows you that Giannis' heart is in the right place,
04:16and it was, he wanted to be seen last night.
04:18You know who also wants to be seen and heard from?
04:21LeBron James.
04:22And we all know LeBron James could be an egotistical douche.
04:27We all know that with King James,
04:29and there's always a method to his madness.
04:32So, LeBron James' story the other night
04:36is Giannis Antetokounmpo,
04:38where he had that moment where they lost to the Heat
04:40in the playoffs, and he was asked, like,
04:42is this a failure of a season?
04:44And he said, Michael Jordan played 15 years,
04:46won six championships.
04:47The other nine years were a failure.
04:49He asked that.
04:50So, LeBron puts this out last night,
04:52and he goes, wonderful words of wisdom here by Giannis.
04:56Failure only exists when you refuse to try.
04:59So, I look at this one of two ways.
05:01I will give you the logical way,
05:04and then I will give you the Solana way of looking at this.
05:06The logical way is this is LeBron saying,
05:10everyone talks about me and Michael.
05:12See, even Michael Jordan didn't win a championship each and every year
05:15because he's so insecure about that.
05:18The other way is, oh,
05:20Giannis Antetokounmpo now on the Heat.
05:23Bam out of Bayou.
05:24Continues to be with the Heat.
05:26The Heat could use another player.
05:28We speculated maybe LeBron James coming back to Miami
05:31and taking his talents back to South Beach.
05:34Is this LeBron James, like, when you go to a dog park,
05:37you have a dog,
05:37and, like, you have the two or three dogs in the dog park.
05:40They see one another.
05:42They start sniffing one another around.
05:44They sniff the butt, and then they see if they want to hang out.
05:46Is this LeBron starting to sniff the butt of when Giannis Antetokounmpo?
05:50You know, Gelby, we've been talking about this.
05:53We spent a little bit of time on it yesterday.
05:55I want Heat Homer here.
05:56Come on.
05:57Give it to me.
05:58Just because, and about a week and a half ago
06:01when the Giannis thing was still just a dream,
06:04there was this report that, you know,
06:06you couldn't necessarily rule out LeBron and Giannis coming to Miami,
06:11and Hawk didn't want to hear any of it.
06:14He said, stop.
06:15Let's not be unrealistic.
06:16This is stupid.
06:18Didn't want to talk about it at all.
06:19Gelby?
06:20LeBron James is very calculated with everything he says,
06:25every word, every syllable, every post of his is a calculated move.
06:31And I don't know.
06:32I mean, why would he do that?
06:34Why would he post that yesterday right after the Giannis Antetokounmpo news?
06:39Um, yeah, I, I think, I think LeBron, at the very least, Gelby,
06:46at the very least, it's in the back of his mind.
06:49Hmm.
06:50Hmm.
06:52Uh, get traded for Jared Allen and go fill that void in Cleveland.
06:57Uh, or go play with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo, and Eric Spolstra,
07:01and get to live on South Beach again.
07:03Which one sounds better?
07:05I know which one.
07:07That area, let's be real, when he was, he was on that private road.
07:09I, I remember going past, and they're like, oh, that's where LeBron lives.
07:13Yeah, but he used to ride his bike, used to ride his bike to the arena.
07:17Um, and in December, January, February, gets to go to the beach,
07:22gets to go sit by the pool in the afternoon.
07:25Gelby, come on.
07:26It's the obvious choice.
07:27It's the 305.
07:28It may be time to dust off Jim Gray, that old curmudgeon sum of bitch,
07:33and have LeBron do one last decision.
07:36And Austin Reeves, big extension coming, uh, with the, with the, uh, with the Lakers.
07:41So now, all right, is LeBron going to want to take less to stay with the Lakers?
07:46Him and Palenka could have a falling out.
07:48Uh, Cavs speculation.
07:50Maybe there's a trade.
07:51Jared Allen, people in Cleveland saying, well, for one year of LeBron,
07:54you want to lose the next four or five years of Jared Allen?
07:58Again, processed by elimination.
08:00If the Lakers go, if the Cavs go, there's one team left.
08:05And who would it be?
08:07Alejandro Solana's Miami Heat.
08:09LeBron, come on to Miami.
08:12And hey, we can wait to July 6th.
08:15Imagine LeBron walking out with Giannis, walking out with Bam out of bio.
08:19And LeBron, just for old time's sakes, go, not one, not two, not three, not seven, not eight.
08:26Like, he's probably only going to play another year or two.
08:28But that would, now having Giannis, I had no appetite with Giannis not here to see LeBron come back to
08:34Miami.
08:35I just thought it was pointless, like, go back to Cleveland or stay, or stay in L.A.
08:39Now, with Giannis Antetokounmpo in Miami with Bam out of bio, LeBron James, I could have an appetite for him
08:46coming back to South Beach.
08:47It changes everything, Gil.
08:49Like, Giannis really does change everything.
08:51I wanted to get into it with you a little bit later regarding the way people are perceiving this version
08:58of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
09:00I'm seeing a lot of people say he's not in his prime anymore.
09:02He's washed.
09:03But aside from that, Ira yesterday said to us that if you had to choose between Wiggins and Powell, those
09:12two, or LeBron James, that he would choose Wiggins and Powell.
09:15And I understand that logic.
09:17And I'm not saying that I disagree with Ira, but it could come down to Norman Powell needing to cash
09:25in on that one year where he can finally cash in after the All-Star season that he had never
09:30had before.
09:31And it might not end up being in Miami.
09:33It kind of feels like it's treading that way.
09:35Who knows, right?
09:35We'll see how this all shapes up over the next week or so.
09:38But if that's the case, there is a pathway, Gelby.
09:42Sign and trade Norm to the Lakers or somewhere else and make that deal with LeBron coming to Miami.
09:51Like, there's a pathway for it.
09:52I'm not saying it's going to happen.
09:55I wouldn't be opposed is all I'll tell you.
09:58I would not be opposed.
09:59I'm not great at math, but right now I would say 40% chance he goes back to the Lakers.
10:11No, 50% he goes back to the Lakers.
10:1530% that he goes to Cleveland.
10:1820% the Heat.
10:19I think that adds up.
10:2150, 60, 70, 80.
10:22Yep, 20.
10:23That's 100.
10:24Look at me.
10:24I'm not good at math.
10:25That was the toughest thing I've ever had to do right there.
10:27Jimmy even gave me two thumbs up.
10:29He goes, this idiot that's in sports media, no way he's going to be able to add to 100 right
10:34here.
10:34Like, I think there's a 20%.
10:36I don't think it's likely.
10:36I'm not going to sit here and say, I expect LeBron to be here.
10:39But if you would ask me two weeks ago, as LeBron go back to Miami, I would say, no.
10:43Now we're talking about a 20% chance potentially.
10:46And the way that this would go is the Lakers annoy him.
10:49Cleveland doesn't have the appetite to trade for him because they don't want to get rid
10:52of Allen and they don't want to get rid of Mobley to make the salaries work.
10:56And then it's like, where else are you going to go?
10:58Could he go to Golden State?
10:59There are other options out there.
11:01But Miami, they're there and they're lurking.
11:04They're starting to lurk again.
11:05There's really only like a couple of realistic options.
11:08We went through them yesterday.
11:09Golden State to me, not that it's likely he goes there, but it makes sense.
11:12You could see why.
11:14Right.
11:14It just makes sense.
11:16Lakers staying there.
11:17I don't know, man, I feel the same way I did yesterday.
11:20The Austin Reeves things changes everything to me in terms of LeBron.
11:23We'll see.
11:25Cleveland, obviously, everybody expects him to go back to Cleveland.
11:29But if the Cavs really have to give up Jared Allen for LeBron James, I mean, really, they're
11:36going to do that for LeBron's retirement tour?
11:38That doesn't make them better in terms of how they have to get through the opponents that
11:43they haven't been able to get through, which is now a front court of the Miami Heat with
11:47Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo, which is the New York Knicks who swept them out of
11:51the playoffs and made it look easy.
11:52I'm not saying Jared Allen's better than LeBron, obviously.
11:55But when you just talk about matchups, when you just talk about the state of that team
12:00and the way that they operate, their front court is everything to them, along with Donovan
12:04Mitchell, he's going to go team up with Evan Mobley and Donovan Mitchell and lose Jared
12:11Allen like that team.
12:12And fat James Harden.
12:13Don't forget about him.
12:14Fat James Harden.
12:15It just doesn't make any sense to me.
12:16Dribble, dribble and strip club, strip club.
12:17If we're just talking about overall fit, what did we say yesterday, Gelby?
12:21If LeBron wants to continue to win and be in a position where he can win, he can't be the
12:27number one anymore.
12:28We know that, right?
12:29He can't be the number one every given night for 82 games.
12:32It's just not going to work.
12:33He can't be the number two on a title contender.
12:37I think we saw enough of a sample size with Luka and him last season, even though you made
12:42a great point at the end of the year, they were coming on strong and who knows what would
12:46have happened.
12:47But why not embrace, if you're LeBron, being the number three on a team?
12:53You're still LeBron James.
12:54You're still the face of the NBA.
12:55You're still the greatest player or second greatest player of all time, whatever the
12:59hell you want to say.
13:00And now, less toll on your body.
13:03You don't have to be relied upon night in, night out.
13:06Giannis and Bam carry the weight.
13:08You get to be the de facto point guard.
13:11Surround those three with shooters.
13:13And you're talking about a legit, legit, maybe the best third option in the history of the
13:21NBA.
13:21And it's also not crazy to say that LeBron will feel insulted by the Lakers, the Cavs
13:27don't want to part with a piece like Jared Allen, and then it's like, where do you go?
13:31It's not that far away.
13:34It's not that many steps to when Miami gets into this conversation.
13:37And also, because my view from this, from bird's eye view, the championship with Cleveland we've
13:45talked about, this matters the most.
13:47That after that, you could debate the Lakers championship, his first championship with
13:52Miami.
13:52Then the second one, beating the San Antonio Spurs.
13:56He goes back to end his career in Miami.
13:58It goes from like, yeah, he just went there for four years.
14:01It was like graduating high school, going to college, and you went back to your home.
14:05Like, I think that was the analogy he used.
14:07This would then be like, oh no, the Heat were a little bit extra more important to him than
14:11we probably all realized.
14:13It becomes, it ends his career in Miami.
14:15And old people love to go to retire in Florida.
14:17So why not do it?
14:18Everybody embraced that whole like four years of college thing when he came to Miami.
14:22Like everybody, Dwayne Wade talked about it and LeBron started talking about it.
14:26And we've heard people from the Miami Heat talk about it and really like that became
14:31the way everybody described LeBron's time in Miami.
14:35And look, I get it.
14:35Four years, he won two titles.
14:37He learned how to win.
14:38It was a good spin on rejection.
14:39It was a great spin on rejection.
14:41It really was.
14:42And it was his time to leave.
14:44The reality is he thought Dwayne Wade's knees were banged up and he wanted an out.
14:48And he saw the out to go back to Cleveland.
14:49And hey, it all worked out for him, obviously, with the title.
14:52I know, go be like, I think he has deep respect for this organization.
14:56And I think more than anything, he loved living in Miami.
14:58I really do.
14:59And if he does feel disrespected by the Lakers and if the Cleveland thing just isn't going
15:03to work out and he's not ready for that one last retirement tour and the Cavs aren't
15:08willing to let go of one of their centerpieces to give LeBron that opportunity because they
15:12feel like they still have a window to go compete.
15:15Miami might end up being the only logical option for LeBron James.
15:20I could see LeBron at prime 112 again.
15:23I could see LeBron at Carbone with the big glass of vino.
15:27I could see it.
15:28He may go there anyway, but he could be a member of the Heat when he goes there next.
15:32All right.
