00:00A very good evening. You've tuned in to India Today Television.
00:03I'm Sneha Mordani and this is 5 Live.
00:05And we are going to be putting the focus this evening on the engagement.
00:11The betrayal and the murder.
00:13Talking about the case from Pune where a young woman has killed her fiancé.
00:18They were all set to get married in the next few weeks or so.
00:22He planned her birthday but she along with her boyfriend planned his murder.
00:28And this was meticulously done.
00:30Focus on that big story that is developing even as this case is unraveling.
00:35Our focus as well this evening on the Lucknow death trap.
00:39And the kind of lapses that have come to the fore as far as the fire in Lucknow City is
00:44concerned.
00:45In a building which was surely a death trap.
00:49Because the people here were simply sitting ducks.
00:52The rules were flouted left, right and centre.
00:55Even to the extent that in 2016 there was an order to demolish this building.
01:00And that was actually revoked.
01:02Our focus on that and much more.
01:04Let's get started with the top 10 stories at this hour.
01:09The Pune murder case is getting more chilling by the day.
01:14Police say preliminary investigations point to Sia Goyal as the main conspirator.
01:18With her boyfriend Chetan Chowdhury.
01:20Allegedly helping execute the murder of fiancé Ketan Agarwal at the Lohagar 4.
01:26Both accused have now been sent to seven days of police custody even as Ketan's father has said it was
01:33Sia's apparent lack of grief after the death that first raised the family's suspicions.
01:41Following the Lucknow fire tragedy, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has banned coaching centres and commercial activity in basements and ordered
01:50safety inspections.
01:51The tragedy has also sparked a political row with Achilles Yadav accusing the government of negligence.
01:57While the BJP claims the building is a legacy of alleged corruption during the Samajwadi party's regime.
02:05A major controversy has erupted in Punjab over the sacrilege case probe.
02:10An FAR registered by Guru Gram police alleges that members of the Punjab police were asked to manipulate a forensic
02:16report and were allegedly offered 10 lakh rupees to do so.
02:21The FAR stems from a whistleblower's complaint alleging pressure to forge a report.
02:25While the Akal Taktas termed the video authentic, Bhagwant Maan has denied the wrongdoing.
02:31The Chief Minister and the Amagni party has put out their defence.
02:37A political controversy is brewing in Madhya Pradesh over land purchases allegedly blamed to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's family.
02:44The row erupted after a media report claimed land holdings connected to Yadav's family expanded significantly after he took office.
02:52Bangalore has demanded answers and even Mohan Yadav's resignation.
02:56While the BJP has dismissed the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
03:03The Kaveri dispute is intensifying amid a deepening monsoon crisis in Karnataka.
03:09Kamil Nadu has demanded the release of 9 TMC of Kaveri water.
03:14While Karnataka's sites were rainfall and low reservoir levels, with Ki Kaveri and Tungabhadra catchments receiving less than half the
03:23normal rainfall.
03:25Well, as fears of crop losses and water shortage grow, questions are being raised over Karnataka's preparedness.
03:31With the state even without a full-time agriculture minister, more than three weeks after the cabinet expansion.
03:39A major anti-terror operation in Karnataka, Devangare police and Central Intelligence officials have arrested a suspected terror operative from
03:47UP
03:47who was allegedly linked to a Pakistan-based terror organization.
03:51The accused, identified as Suhail, was picked up from Devangare district and has now been taken to Tumakaru for further
03:58interrogation
03:59as investigators probe a wider terror network.
04:03An under-construction factory shed has collapsed in Kolkata's Taratala area, triggering a major rescue operation,
04:10where locals say over 40 people are trapped.
04:14Several workers were injured in the collapse.
04:16Emergency teams are racing against time to reach those stranded.
04:20Authorities have launched rescue efforts at the site.
04:22With West Bengal Chief Minister, West Bengal Minister Indra Neel Khan, expected to visit the spot shortly.
04:30A routine commute turned deadly on a Mumbai local trainer, Mayank Lohar.
04:34A salesman from Virar was allegedly stabbed to death inside a first-class coach while traveling home from Andheri.
04:40Police say an argument broke out after Mayank asked a fellow passenger to shut the train door during heavy rain.
04:46The dispute escalated.
04:48The accused allegedly attacked him with a sharper weapon.
04:51Mayank died in the spot.
04:54Conflicting signals continue to emerge from Iran and the United States in spite of the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of
05:03Understanding.
05:04While President Donald Trump claims Iran has agreed to long-term IEA nuclear inspections,
05:10Tehran has denied making any such commitment, even as the UN Nuclear Watchdog says inspections could resume.
05:17References have also surfaced over ballistic missiles and the Strait of Hormuz,
05:22with Iran insisting that missiles were never part of the talks.
05:27According to Iranian media reports, President Masood Faizishkian has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi
05:33to attend the funeral ceremonies of Iran's former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,
05:39scheduled to be held in early July.
05:41Reports indicate similar invitations have been extended to several world leaders,
05:45though there is no official word yet from New Delhi on whether India is going to be represented at this
05:51event.
05:56Our top focus at this hour,
05:58well, the police are talking about this crime that was committed in Phune, at the Lohargarh Ford.
06:05The police say it was betrayal hidden behind wedding plans, birthday celebrations and declarations of love.
06:12In that sense, it wasn't an ordinary murder.
06:14A 26-year-old groom-to-be, his fiancée, and the man investigators, the main investigators, say he was a
06:22secret lover here.
06:23Three lives interwined in a relationship that police claim ended with a fall, a deadly one, a deliberate one, at
06:32the Lohargarh Ford.
06:33At the centre of the story is 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal, engaged to Sia Goyal in February and preparing
06:39for a November wedding.
06:40Police say Sia was already in a relationship with 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhry, did not want to go ahead
06:47with the marriage.
06:48They say the conspiracy wasn't just planned, it was carefully coordinated.
06:53Investigators claim Sia and Chetan exchanged more than 2,000 calls and spent nearly 240 hours talking over a period
07:03of six months.
07:04According to the probe, Sia lured Ketan to Lohagarh Ford, while Chetan allegedly took steps to avoid detection,
07:12leaving his phone behind, carrying an employee's handset, switching off internet access for hours on the day of this crime.
07:21Police say those moves, along with other evidence recovered during questioning, point to a pre-planned conspiracy.
07:29And then came the twist that stunned investigators.
07:33After Ketan's death, Sia posted an emotional tribute on social media, writing and I quote,
07:39Why did you leave me when I loved you so much? Unquote.
07:43Today, the post is part of the police probe into a case that investigators say is a story not just
07:49of a murder,
07:50it's a story of love, betrayal and a murder planned in Kohlplant.
07:56India Today's Omkar Bhaable decodes a chilling conspiracy.
08:16Just months before his wedding, Ketan Agarwal walked into what police now describe as a deadly trap.
08:24A love story that ended in murder at the edge of a fort.
08:28Police claim Sia did not want to go ahead with the marriage and wanted to continue her relationship with Chetan
08:35Chaudhary
08:35and began seeing Ketan as an obstacle.
08:39Police allege Sia and Chetan then conspired together to eliminate him.
08:44For Ketan's family, the shock is overwhelming.
09:01Both Sia and Chetan have now been arrested and remanded to seven days of police custody.
09:06However, Chetan's lawyer has argued in court that Ketan's death was an accident, not murder.
09:15We strongly opposed the police custody and considering our arguments, the Honourable Court granted seven days of police custody to
09:24both men.
09:25Police meanwhile maintained that the death was the result of a carefully planned conspiracy.
09:32Police say the sequence of events unfolded in June 18 at Lohagarh Fort.
09:38Sia and Ketan arrived at Lohagarh Fort together.
09:42Chetan reached separately.
09:44The three met near the edge of a gorge.
09:48Investigators allege Chetan attacked Ketan before he was pushed into a 400-feet gorge.
09:55Police say Sia then called authorities claiming Ketan had slipped and fallen.
10:01A key piece of evidence is CCTV footage that allegedly places Chetan at Lohagarh Fort on the day of the
10:09incident.
10:10The fort's gatekeeper has told investigators that Chetan entered the premises without purchasing a ticket.
10:46A wedding that never happened.
10:48And a trek that ended in murder.
10:52As investigators piece together the final moments of Ketan Agarwal's life, one family continues to wait for answers and justice.
11:03With Omkar Wable in Pune, Bureau Report, India Today.
11:09I'm going straight across with Devesh Singh for more details on that story that we are tracking very closely.
11:14Devesh, we've had all the details from the police who speak about how this was pre-planned.
11:20Clearly, this woman knew what she was doing.
11:22She tried it not once, but twice.
11:24It was unsuccessful, clearly, in the first attempt.
11:26You know, give us an idea about what the family members of the woman, Sia, are now saying about this
11:32entire case.
11:33Given that, Ketan's family have said that even they are guilty because they knew that she was in love with
11:38someone else.
11:39Then why force this marriage on her as well?
11:43Well, Seha, you rightly pointed out that the allegations, the complaints made by Ketan Agarwal's family are that Sia's family
11:53already knew about her relationship with Chetan Chaudhary.
11:57But despite that, despite knowing her relationship with Chetan Chaudhary, they moved ahead, forced her, or it is assumed that
12:07they forced her to get into an engagement with Chetan Agarwal.
12:14Again, it is suspected that she could have been pressurized, and that is why Sia Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary eventually
12:23thought that killing Chetan Agarwal could be, that could help them continue together into their relationship.
12:33But Ketan Agarwal was a hindrance to Sia Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, and that is why they planned, conspired, and
12:41executed this murder.
12:43Remember, police has also pointed out that five days before the incident, also Sia and Ketan Agarwal were at Lohagad
12:52court,
12:52and then also Sia had attempted to push Chetan Agarwal, but she made an excuse that she'd seen a snake,
13:00and that is why she pushed him.
13:02And it is suspected that it was not just, it was the first attempt when they wanted to eliminate Chetan
13:09Agarwal.
13:10They wanted to murder Chetan Agarwal on that day itself, but that day they were not successful.
13:15So again, they went back on it in June, and that day Chetan Chaudhary and Sia Goyal pushed off the
13:22cliff, Ketan Agarwal off the cliff into a deep cause,
13:25which was 400 feet deep, killing him on the spot.
13:29You know, I also want to ask you, Divesh, talk to us about what the family members of the victim,
13:33Ketan Agarwal, are now saying about what really raised their suspicion,
13:36because clearly the attempt to push him down the first time was not something that raised the red flag.
13:41Also the fact that she burnt up the passport, didn't want to go on a foreign vacation that was being
13:46planned.
13:46All of that clearly didn't raise any red flags, isn't it?
13:51Well, there were many red flags that had come to the notice of Ketan Agarwal's family members.
13:56Ketan Agarwal's sudden death in an accident that they could not believe that Ketan could just slip and fall off
14:04a cliff,
14:05or fall off where he'd gone for a trek.
14:08They suspected that something was not right.
14:11Something was omit in all this, in the sequence of events.
14:15While they were going to Bali, suddenly Sia lost her passport.
14:20So all the 20 members had to abandon their trip, had to cancel their trip to Bali.
14:25Again, there were meetings that were held between Sia, Ketan, and other family members.
14:30So there were many such incidents that had come to, that raised the question in the minds of Ketan Agarwal's
14:37family members.
14:38And that is why they requested police to dig deeper.
14:42They requested police to investigate the S.P. of Pune Rural, Sandeep Singh Gill, along with his team of investigators,
14:50then started going through phone records, going through other details.
14:53And when they were investigating, even before the murder came to light, even before it came to light that it
15:00was a case of murder and not an accident,
15:03police had started going through details that they had received from Ketan Agarwal's family members.
15:09And also, the details of Sia Goyal's phone, they had found out that Sia Goyal was in a relationship with
15:17one Shetan Chaudhary.
15:19And these were the points that further led the investigators to interrogate and question Sia Goyal and Shetan Chaudhary,
15:27who eventually confessed to the mother.
15:29You know, Divyesha, I'm going to leave it there for the moment.
15:31But this really gives us an opportunity to also reflect on the kind of a person that she really was,
15:37because she actually went on to post all kinds of things indicating that perhaps she was in deep grief.
15:42But really, now, when all this information has come to the fore and this case is unraveled,
15:47it shows the mindset, really, of this person who planned the murder of her fiancé while he planned her birthday
15:54party.
15:54Really, it's upsetting, to say the least.
15:56I'm going to thank you and leave it to that for the moment, Divyesha, with those details.
16:01From a honeymoon that ended in murder to a fiancé allegedly pushed into a gorge days before the wedding.
16:09A disturbing pattern is emerging across the country.
16:12Cases from Meghalaya, Merit, Delhi and now Pune are raising troubling questions
16:18about relationships turning into deadly conspiracies.
16:21Our next report looks at the chilling trail of betrayal,
16:24reception and violence behind some of India's most shocking relationship murders.
16:40Love, trust, marriage, relationships built on promises.
16:49But across India, a chilling pattern is emerging,
16:53where relationships are ending not with separation, but with murder.
17:00A honeymoon that became a murder scene.
17:04Her husband poisoned and chopped into pieces.
17:07Body parts stored in a blue drum.
17:11A live-in partner dismembered and dumped across the city.
17:17And now, a fiancé allegedly pushed into a 400-foot gorge days before his wedding.
17:25But Pune is not an isolated case.
17:28Just months ago, the nation was gripped by the Meghalaya honeymoon murder.
17:36Raja Raghuvanshi had barely begun married life when he was found hacked to death near a gorge during a honeymoon
17:42trip.
17:46Police allege that his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi conspired with hired killers to eliminate him.
17:52A honeymoon became a crime scene.
17:57And her wife became the prime accused.
18:03In Merritt, another case sent shockwaves across the country.
18:08Saurav Rajput had returned from London to surprise his wife.
18:12Police say Muskan Rastogi and her lover first poisoned him, then murdered him.
18:20Investigators allege his body was dismembered, sealed inside a cement-filled drum and hidden in an attempt to destroy evidence.
18:29Even after his death, messages were allegedly sent from his phone to mislead family members.
18:39And then there was the Shraddha Walker case.
18:43A crime so gruesome that it horrified the nation.
18:47Police alleged that after strangling Shraddha, her live-in partner, Aftar Poonawala, cut her body into dozens of pieces,
18:55stored them in a refrigerator and disposed them off.
18:58Over several weeks, crossed Delhi.
19:05The murder remained hidden for months before investigators finally uncovered the truth.
19:13Different cities.
19:15Different relationships.
19:17Different victims.
19:19But a chillingly similar trait of betrayal, deception and calculated violence.
19:25From honeymoon trips to wedding plans.
19:29From promises of love to allegations of murder.
19:34India is witnessing a disturbing pattern where relationships are no longer just breaking down.
19:40They are ending in bloodshed.
19:45A relationship can end.
19:48A marriage can be called off.
19:50A breakup can happen.
19:52But increasingly, investigators are confronting cases where love gives way to betrayal.
19:59And betrayal ends in gruesome murders.
20:03Bureau Report, India Today.
20:10We're shifting focus now.
20:12Let's take you straight to Lucknow City.
20:14Where we're getting in details of how there were lapses and loopholes that eventually led to the murder, criminal death
20:23of 15 students.
20:25A building filled with students.
20:27A fire that spread just within minutes.
20:30Investigators now say the warning signs were there all along.
20:34What happened in Lucknow was not just a tragedy.
20:37It may have been a disaster waiting to happen.
20:41Investigators say the Aliganj building was riddled with safety lapses.
20:45The structure had no emergency exit.
20:48Leaving students and staff which is to one way in, one way out.
20:53Authorities say there was no valid fire NOC in place.
20:56It's a strict violation of the building codes.
21:00Unsafe electrical wiring was reported from inside the building.
21:04Improperly installed AC units are also now under scrutiny as possible contributors to the place.
21:11Most importantly, investigators believe multiple fire safety norms were ignored in spite of the risks.
21:18When the fire broke out, the building quickly turned into a death trap.
21:23Officials say there was only a single entry, an exit point and no alternative escape route.
21:28The building lacked a proper smoke exhaust system, causing thick smoke to engulf the premises within minutes.
21:36Investigators also believe many of the victims died due to suffocation, before rescuers could even reach them and not so
21:42much of burn injuries.
21:44As grief grips families, a fierce political battle has erupted with the opposition and rightly so,
21:50pointing fingers at the government saying that safety norms were ignored and the administration looked the other way.
21:56They demanded a probe into approvals and no objection certificates issued under the current government.
22:03The BJP has hit back, accusing the Samajwadi Party of politicizing the tragedy
22:08and claiming the building itself is a legacy of alleged irregularities during the previous regime, the Samajwadi Party's regime.
22:16But beyond the political blame game, one question continues to haunt Lucknow,
22:21who allowed such a building to keep functioning until disaster struck.
22:25The tragedy has now put years of approvals and decisions under the spotlight.
22:31Records show the building was cleared as a residential structure in 2014.
22:36Satellite images indicate the plot remained vacant till December 2015.
22:41Construction then began. It was completed by 2016.
22:45At same year, authorities registered a case of illegal construction.
22:49A demolition order was issued in the month of May 2016, 10 years ago.
22:54But just weeks later, in July 2016, a demolition order was revoked.
22:59Investigators are examining how the building continued to operate in spite of repeated red flags
23:05and whether alleged violations were overlooked until tragedy struck.
23:10Action seems to be gathering pace just now.
23:14Isn't it too little too late is the big question here.
23:16The Lucknow Development Authority has issued a fresh demolition notice.
23:21Building owners have been given 15 days to respond.
23:24Authorities say commercial activities were allegedly being carried out
23:27in spite of residential approval for the building, not commercial.
23:31And if this explanation is found unsatisfactory,
23:34the building that became a symbol of tragedy could soon face demolition.
23:39As families mourn their loved ones and demand accountability,
23:44the blame game has begun.
23:46Here's more on the political showdown.
25:00I'm going straight across to Ashish Srivastava for the very latest on that story.
25:04As far as the probe in this entire matter is concerned.
25:07Ashish, there have been arrests today.
25:09I understand the fire department also carried out these inspection sort of drives
25:14that were seen across Lucknow City.
25:16But, you know, the fact is that not one person or one department,
25:19but several are behind this disaster, isn't it?
25:22Tell us, what is the probe found so far?
25:29Yeah, absolutely, which we can understand in the fire incident where the many people are involved.
25:34And this is what the investigation is going on.
25:38One of the things we can understand that the SIT also have been formed in this case
25:42and they are just investigating this matter.
25:44Such of the many people who have been died in this whole incident and who are responsible.
25:49This is, this will be, you know, checked by the authorities.
25:54Because of an electricity department who have given an electricity connection,
25:58it was also issue that how he has been provided a 22k kW connection,
26:04which was required there 33 kW.
26:07So, it was the reason that this kind of situation has occurred inside.
26:11And second, the authority where this property, which was a residential property
26:16and converted into the commercial property.
26:19So, what was the reason behind this?
26:22That how many people are involved in this whole scene,
26:24which we can understand that the Lucknow Development Authority's officer,
26:27fire department officers, even those people who have provided electricity connection,
26:33all those people are involved in this.
26:35SIT is investigating the whole matter and they are just getting the information
26:40and the report will be submitted to the government soon.
26:45But the factually is that how the people who have been,
26:49just lost their lives in this whole scenario,
26:52the families who are just paining in this time and just demanding justice
26:56because they just want to know that what was their, you know, mistake,
27:01what was the reason how this fire has expanded in this structure,
27:06in this building, which we are looking from here.
27:09So, it was a reason that many people are involved in this,
27:12even the four people who have been arrested,
27:15like the owner of this house, who have residents,
27:19who have been also arrested now,
27:20and another who is the CEO of this company,
27:25which was running here, animation company,
27:27who has been already arrested,
27:30but who all are involved in this.
27:32This is what the SIT is investigating,
27:34those and just connecting the member and the people
27:38who all are involved in this whole scenario.
27:41And this is what everyone who is under the scanning,
27:44that what is going to be done now,
27:47after the SIT report will be submitted.
27:49So, the action will be taken soon,
27:52just because our Chief Minister Yogi Aditnaath
27:54has given assurance to the families
27:56who have been injured, who have lost their lives,
27:59that the action will be taken.
28:01Even the Lucknow Development Authority
28:02also have served the notice to bulldoze this building.
28:06So, this kind of situation is running...
28:08But yes, the questions really remain, Ashish,
28:09as to how this continued for so many years.
28:11In fact, 10 years of the stretch,
28:13it's unimaginable that this building
28:15actually had a demolition order,
28:17but that was revoked.
28:18There are several lapses, not one,
28:21raising many questions on how authorities
28:23also are hand in glove with people
28:25who allow activities of this kind.
28:27It's led to the death of 15 people here.
28:31You're shifting focus at this point in time.
28:33Let's take a look at these developments.
28:42And this is an update as far as the Kolkata shed collapse is concerned.
28:46There's tragic news coming in.
28:47Three people have died.
28:49The Bengal Chief Minister,
28:50Shubindu Adikari, has taken stock of this incident.
28:5321 people rescued.
28:5418 people still fear to be trapped under the debris there.
28:57The NDRF, the SDRF,
28:59after the spot rescue operations are underway.
29:03An under-construction factory shed building
29:04had earlier collapse in Kolkata.
29:07Rescue operations have been in fact underway for a couple of hours.
29:10Listen in to what the Chief Minister has now said.
29:45Anurban getting in more details in that story
29:47and he's from the site where this accident has taken place.
29:51Another day, Anurban.
29:52Another disaster really in the country.
29:54I understand three people have died.
29:56The Chief Minister said that 18 people have been,
29:59are still under the debris.
30:00What about the people who are rescued
30:02and what are the authorities indicating right now?
30:08Well, see, as per Shubindu Adikari, the CM,
30:11who has visited this place a few minutes back,
30:15he said that already 18 people,
30:1916 to 18 people were inside now.
30:22They will be recovered from the debris.
30:24As well as what we have learned from the hospital itself,
30:28that 19 people has been admitted there as well.
30:32And as far as the total figure is concerned,
30:36that has not been told totally by the government side
30:40or the administration side.
30:42But right now the rescue operation is going on
30:44and the full team, the central team of the defense,
30:47Eastern Command is also helping the state government
30:50as well as the NDRF and the Kolkata police
30:54and fire brigade as well.
30:55And we can see that I have joined by the few of the eyewitnesses,
31:01those who were there during the incident.
31:06Remember, what was happening when the incident was done?
31:09Why was the one allowed to be all inside?
31:11What happened?
31:12We don't work, we only have fun,
31:15in the meantime it would be very close to 13.
31:18So, we started to be violent and we all thought,
31:19we had a fever.
31:20We were out there and under construction site
31:23for 6-7 months before the cycle.
31:24foreign
31:54But those people in the back, there is no idea of what they are doing here.
31:58And they worked 40-50 people here.
32:02Well, so what we have learned from the eyewitnesses itself that they are saying that 40-50 people
32:08were working inside and few people are there in the second floor as well.
32:14So right now, the exact figure has not been given by the government or by the administration.
32:18We are waiting for it.
32:19But the rescue operation is going on swiftly and we hope that less number of casualties
32:26and the people are being recovered and they will be recovered in the hospital as soon as possible.
32:32Over to you.
32:33Anir Pan, thank you for the moment, getting in those details at this point in time.
32:36Of course, detailed investigations would give us an idea about what really happened.
32:40Their three lives have been lost.
32:41There are other people also trapped under the debris with rescue teams and ERF, STRF on the spot.
32:51A shocking murder on board Mumbai's lifeline has left commuters shaken.
32:57A 22-year-old man, Mayank Lohar, was stabbed to death inside a crowded local train
33:02after what police say began as an argument over closing the porch door during heavy rain.
33:07The chilling visuals tell the story.
33:09It's on its screens at this point in time.
33:12Accused is seen inside the compartment moments after the attack.
33:15The knife still in hand while the injured man lies bleeding on the floor.
33:20Stunned passengers look on.
33:22The attack took place between Andheri and Burivali stations.
33:26Police say the accused jumped off at the Burivali station and fled before he could get caught.
33:33CCTV footage has now been secured.
33:35Accused has been napped from Kurla, is what we know.
33:40It was a disaster.
33:43It was a disaster.
33:44It was a disaster for 3-4 months.
33:46The culprit was in a very short span of time.
33:50Similarly, the current disaster is a disaster.
33:53It's also a disaster for the JRP to get caught.
33:58We believe that further investigation will reach our final conclusion.
34:07Alright, staying with news from Mumbai City, let's tell you about the torrential rains that have triggered widespread flooding, traffic
34:15disruptions and rail delays across the city.
34:20Intense overnight rainfall caused severe waterlogging in several parts of Mumbai and the Mumbai metropolitan region, disrupting traffic and daily
34:27activities.
34:28Areas such as King Circle, Matunga and Dadar have witnessed flooded roads and slow-moving vehicles.
34:37Mumbai received over 300 mm of rainfall within 24 hours.
34:42The Indian Med Department has issued a red alert, later downgrading it to an orange one, while forecasting continued moderate
34:50to intense rainfall.
34:53Heavy showers led to multiple tree collapse incidents across the city, including a major tree falling on a car in
35:00Dadar.
35:01Authorities are assessing the damage.
35:03Details regarding the injuries remain unavailable.
35:07Low-lying areas in Vasai Virar, including Nala Sapora, Virar and Vasai, faced severe waterlogging affecting commuters and school children.
35:17High tides recorded in the morning and expected in the evening further heightened flooding risks.
35:24Water accumulation on suburban railway tracks caused delays and overcrowding on Mumbai's local train network, the city's lifeline.
35:32This was specially seen on the central railway routes.
35:35Although train services continued, commuters faced extended travel times.
35:49And we're reporting on news just coming in at this point in time has got to do with the Prime
35:54Minister.
35:54What we hear is that days after the successful need re-examination that was seen in the country, the Prime
36:01Minister praised his ministers in the Cabinet meeting earlier.
36:05Noting that they made a collective effort to ensure the need re-examination was conducted smoothly and without any issues.
36:12The Prime Minister remarked that a whole-of-government approach was evident throughout this entire process.
36:19His advice that this same model should be adopted for every occasion.
36:24Well, in the meeting today, the Prime Minister told his Cabinet members that if everyone works together, any challenge can
36:31be faced and overcome.
36:33I'm going straight to Himanshu Mishra for more details on that story.
36:37Himanshu Pradhan Mantri, the re-exam that was here, the efforts that were here are, and this is what they
36:43have been taught in the cabinet meeting today.
36:47The Prime Minister was given by the way of the government.
36:50He was given the process of the need re-examination and the response to the need.
36:52After this, the government recommended that the need re-examination without any difficulties,
37:03all the efforts of all of us were taken over.
37:07He also said that the government's policy will be seen by the government.
37:13And they said that when there is no answer, we need to work with each other.
37:18This is a necessary point.
37:20They also said that when we all work with each other,
37:26we will not be able to work with each other.
37:30So, any other way we can be able to work with each other.
37:43And they said that these efforts are all the government, all the government,
37:48who have worked with each other,
37:50whether it is the defense, the home ministry, the health ministry, the education ministry.
37:56So, from this, there is a clear message,
38:01that if we all work with each other,
38:02then you can be able to work with each other.
38:06And you can be able to work with each other.
38:12So, talking to us about the Prime Minister lauding the ministers
38:15and speaking about the whole-of-government approach
38:17and the effort of the government in ensuring the re-examination,
38:22successful neat re-examination.
38:27Millions of Indians take medicines every day without a second thought.
38:32A pill for an infection, a tablet for pain, a cream for skin.
38:37But what if some of those medicine combinations
38:40that experts believe never should have been sold together in the first place?
38:46In a major regulatory crackdown,
38:48the centre has banned 16 fixed-dose drug combinations,
38:53saying the risks outweigh the benefits.
38:56Let's break it down for you.
38:58The government says an expert committee
39:00and the Drugs Technical Advisory Board reviewed these medicines
39:05and found no clear therapeutic justification for the combinations.
39:09In simple terms, experts were not convinced that these medicines,
39:15while combining them in the combined form,
39:18delivered any meaningful additional medical benefit.
39:22In several cases, the combinations were described as irrational,
39:27with regulators concluding that potential risks outweigh the advantages.
39:32And this is the key distinction here.
39:35The government has not banned the individual medicines.
39:39What has been banned are specific combinations of medicines sold together in a single formulation.
39:46Doctors can still prescribe many of these ingredients separately if medically required.
39:52Common medicines remain available.
39:54The target is not the drug themselves,
39:58but combinations that regulators believe lacked sufficient scientific backing.
40:04According to the review done,
40:06some combinations offered little or no proven additional benefit.
40:11Experts also flagged concerns about unnecessary side effects,
40:15inappropriate use and the possibility of exposing patients to extra risks
40:20without improving treatment outcomes.
40:23The fundamental question regulators asked was simple.
40:26Does combining these medicines actually help patients more?
40:30In these cases, the answer was not clear enough.
40:34The ban covers a range of categories of combinations.
40:37This includes certain antibiotic combinations,
40:42pain and stomach cramp medicines,
40:45some diabetes formulations as well,
40:48skin treatments and cosmetic drug products.
40:52Several widely marketed fixed dose combinations
40:55have now been removed from the market,
40:58pending compliance with the government's order.
41:00Perhaps the easiest way to understand the decision is through the aloe vera example.
41:05Let's tell you about that.
41:06The government has not banned aloe vera,
41:10nor has it banned vitamin E, jojoba oil or tea tree oil.
41:14What regulators are questioning was whether combining all these ingredients
41:19into a single medicinal or cosmetic product
41:22actually produce a better clinical outcome.
41:26Experts found insufficient evidence to support some of these combinations,
41:30leading to their inclusion in the ban list.
41:33For consumers, the immediate message is don't panic.
41:37Paracetamol has not been banned.
41:39Amoxiline has not been banned.
41:42Diabetes medicines are also available.
41:44What has changed is that certain fixed dose combinations are no longer permitted.
41:50Doctors and pharmacists will be guiding patients on suitable alternatives wherever necessary.
41:55The broader message from regulators is clear.
41:58Medicine sold in India must be backed by evidence,
42:02and the combinations must prove they offer more benefit than risk before they reach the patients.
42:11Well, that report also is in fact bringing us to the end of this edition of Five Live,
42:17but we're leaving you with this report.
42:19A crime that once shocked the nation is back in the spotlight.
42:24The new psychological thriller Rah is generating buzz not just for its terror cast and strong performances,
42:31but also for its inspiration from the infamous Ranga Billa case.
42:35Why is the series striking such a chord with viewers?
42:39And what's really driving the conversation online?
42:42We're leaving you with this story.
43:00A crime so chilling it scarred an entire generation.

43:19And now, that chilling chapter has found new life through Raakh.
43:24The intense psychological crime thriller starring Ali Fazil, Sonali Bendre and Aamir Bashir
43:29isn't just another cop versus criminal story.
43:32It's a haunting journey into the minds of criminals, the pain of grieving families
43:36and the scars left behind by a crime that shocked the nation.
43:40And that's exactly why everyone is talking about this gripping series.
43:47Bomber?
43:49One other attack?
43:53The problem is, I mean, you're not making me feel.
43:59You can't create my feelings.
43:59Never become my feelings.
44:02Premiered on Prime Video on June 12, Raakh has emerged as one of the most talked about OTG titles of
44:08the month.
44:08The series reportedly attracted over 22 million viewers during its opening weekend, marking it a major streaming success.
44:16But numbers tell only half the story.
44:32What has truly grabbed the attention is the show's inspiration from the infamous Rangabilla case, one of India's most horrifying
44:40criminal cases.
44:41The series revisits the fear, trauma and emotional devastation that followed the crime, reigniting conversations across social media.
45:01What makes Rang stand out is its psychological depth.
45:05The series isn't simply asking who committed the crime.
45:08It asks why people commit crimes.
45:11What creates monsters?
45:13How does trauma shape lives?
45:15And can justice ever truly heal those left behind?
45:18Those questions have struck a chord with audiences looking for something more than a routine thriller.
45:39One of the biggest talking points is Ali Fazal's performance as the investigating officer.
45:44Fans and viewers across social media have praised his intense screen presence, emotional depth and gripping portrayal of a cop
45:52chasing the truth in a deeply disturbing case.
45:55In an era, dominated by flashy marketing campaigns, Rang is benefiting from something even stronger, viewer recommendations.
46:03The
46:03The
46:03The
46:03The
46:03I'm just running my hair from a few days.
46:08And I'm going to go back to the city,
46:10I don't know who knows.
46:17And we have to become a hero for anyone.
46:24Why?
46:25When?
46:26This is my own.
46:28Today, you will become a hero for anyone.
46:30You will not become a hero for anyone.
46:33That's why, this is my own country.

46:44with many calling it one of the most gripping Indian crime dramas in recent times.
