A hot air balloon tragedy in southern Brazil has claimed the lives of eight people after a fire reportedly broke out during a sightseeing flight over Praia Grande in Santa Catarina state. According to authorities, the pilot attempted an emergency descent and instructed passengers to jump when the balloon neared the ground. While several people managed to escape, others remained onboard as the fire intensified and the balloon rose again before crashing. Thirteen people, including the pilot, survived and were taken for medical care. Officials have launched an investigation into the incident, while the tour company involved has suspended operations indefinitely.
