00:00Do EU citizens want the bloc to limit its reliance on foreign tech?
00:08Around 80% of Europe's digital infrastructure and technology comes from outside the EU.
00:14Yet most EU citizens want European-controlled digital infrastructure,
00:19with respondents in Sweden, Finland and Denmark believing that the EU should prioritize these investments.
00:25At the same time, EU citizens overwhelmingly want to see a reduction in dependence on non-EU technologies
00:32from countries such as the United States and China.
00:35This view is most prevalent among respondents in Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Finland and Luxembourg.
00:42However, when asked about their willingness to switch to an EU-based digital service provider,
00:48even if it meant higher costs, views vary widely across member states.
00:52Danish, Swedish and Croatian respondents are the most willing to make the move,
00:57while Estonians, Bulgarians and Czechs recorded the lowest levels of agreement.
01:02In addition, men are more likely than women to agree to the switch,
01:05and willingness declines sharply with age, with younger respondents being the most favorable.
01:11Greater security and reliability are the main factors that would encourage EU citizens to change over,
01:18especially for Greeks, Finns and Swedes.
01:21This is closely followed by better protection of personal data,
01:24with the highest share seen in Austria, the Netherlands, Ireland and Portugal.
