00:00How does Europe rank among the world's top tech hubs?
00:07The US still dominates from the West to the East Coast.
00:11According to the Global Tech Ecosystem Index 2026,
00:15the Bay Area takes the top spot,
00:17New York comes in second and Boston rounds out the top three.
00:20Europe, however, isn't too far behind.
00:23London lands in fourth place ahead of LA, Austin and Tel Aviv.
00:27Paris also makes it to the top 10 in eighth place.
00:31Stockholm is the only other European city to break into the world's top 20,
00:36so Europe may not have as many tech giants as the US,
00:39but that's not where its strength lies.
00:42Where Europe does really well is density,
00:44smaller ecosystems that punch above their weight
00:47with an extraordinary concentration of tech innovation and infrastructure.
00:51A few examples, Ghent in Belgium, 10th worldwide,
00:54as well as Switzerland's Lausanne, Oxford, Tallinn and Copenhagen.
01:00But who is moving up fastest?
01:02Istanbul ranks as the third rising star in the tech scene,
01:06after India's Mumbai and China's Hefei,
01:10while Kyiv comes in eighth.
01:12And as we zoom in on the EU,
01:14Zagreb is the city to watch right now,
01:16ranking as the world's 11th hottest rising tech hub.
01:19More broadly, Eastern Europe looks like it's building momentum,
01:23with Athens, Sofia, Prague and Vilnius showing up at the top,
01:27across the EU bloc.
