18:04Продолжение следует...
18:09All right, that is Shane Van Gisberg, and we also have Connor Zilich, who has been released from the Care
18:14Center.
18:14Connor, are you okay? And give us your perspective on that incident.
18:18Yeah, I mean, I felt like I was given Austin space, and, yeah, next thing I was in the wall.
18:24So, really unfortunate. I hate to end both days for both Shane and I and the Red Bull Chevrolets.
18:30We had a really fast car today, got out front, felt really good, but that's how it goes sometimes.
18:35I know that's not the ending you wanted, but what did it feel like to lead the first career Cup
18:40Series laps?
18:41Yeah, I had a lot of fun. You know, I really enjoyed just getting to race out front and, you
18:46know, lead laps.
18:47We had a really fast car. I'm super proud of the entire team, but, yeah, I hate to end the
18:52day this short.
18:52It's been a big weekend for all of us at Red Bull and having the energy station here,
18:56and just hate that, you know, both cars get taken out like that.
19:00Thanks, Connor.
19:01Thank you.
19:03Tough break for the duo from Trackhouse combined to lead 15 laps before the incident.
19:10Now you look at the updated standings, and I'll tell you where I go is right down to Shane Van
19:15Gisbergen,
19:1616th on the chase bubble.
19:18And you think about the ground they had made up at Charlotte with a good run, top five at Nashville,
19:23you know, somewhat overachieving.
19:25Didn't have good runs at Michigan Pocono, but you were like, they're still above the line.
19:29We got two road course races coming, and today they exit not even scoring stage points.
19:33Yeah, they came in here assuming, you know, we weren't just going to give Shane the win,
19:37but we expected him to get a top five and great results in the stages and everything,
19:41and now he's going to come out of here at a loss, which is nothing any of us thought would
19:47happen.
19:47So he goes into Sonoma with a lot to try to accomplish, to be able to give himself that shot
19:55to make the chase
19:56by when it's all said and done.
19:58And Eric Jones right there in 15th.
20:00What a job they've done to be able to climb their way through the ranks over the last several weeks.
20:04It's just really been impressive.
20:06I think they've improved their finishing position at Legacy by 10 spots over the last handful of races
20:13from the start of the year.
20:14So it's been a tale of two seasons all in this first half of the year for Legacy,
20:18and it'll be interesting to see if they keep that momentum going.
20:24I see Bubba Wallace up there too, and I'll just point this out.
20:28Back-to-back free passes for him.
20:30He is now back on the lead lap.
20:31Carson Hosovar has scored 10th prior to the choose.
20:35Here's 77 radio.
20:37Really, it was Austin Hill.
20:39Front row, and it looked like he just missed turn one and dust the 97 and the fifth.
20:46Ah, damn.
20:47I guess he wins the bounty.
20:51Yeah, the bounty, the fictional bounty that I guess may have been put on SVG,
20:55but, you know, that was the way a lot of these guys felt like he was going to, you know,
21:01they were going to be able to beat him.
21:02Something would have to happen.
21:04Well, it's happened, and now the rest of this race is going to be about who's going to step up
21:07and how I think it's going to lead to more chaos, right?
21:11Because now all these guys are going to start taking bigger chances,
21:13thinking this is a race I can actually win with SVG off the racetrack.
21:18Well, look at the leaderboard.
21:20Herbst leading, winless at the cup level.
21:23Larson, over a year winless.
21:26Surprising for Kyle Larson.
21:27Suarez, unbelievable year, right?
21:30He's gone to victory lane.
21:30And he's thinking, why not us?
21:32Zane Smith looking for his first career in.
21:34Joey Logano, while he's a multi-time champ, it has not been the 22's year.
21:38While a win isn't a guarantee in the chase as it was a year ago, all of those points,
21:43just everything, the pressure would be completely off.
21:46Himes part-time, I mean, the storylines are endless on this leaderboard.
21:50Coming off his best run of the year in the top ten.
21:52How about 23-11?
21:53You're leading, you're sixth, you're seventh,
21:55and your fourth driver just got back-to-back free passes and is back on the lead lap,
21:59and we know how fast Wallace has been.
22:01We're lined up, ready to get another green flag here.
22:04NASCAR's done a good job with quickie yellows,
22:06everything they could do to make these cautions shorter.
22:09Seems like we just had that accident,
22:11and now we're getting ready to go back green to continue stage two.
22:15I like this.
22:16A lot of ways to see the race today.
22:19Come on, number 12.
22:23Herbst in charge.
22:25Contact right there.
22:25Yeah, seven to go, stage two.
22:28Herbst on the front row with Larson.
22:30Here we go again.
22:41Larson falls back to third.
22:44Zane Smith through to second on the restart.
22:47Logano mixing it up with Suarez.
22:49Corey Heim right there in the 67.
22:52To the inside here, down into turn three.
22:56Zane Smith, but the 35's going to run him hard here.
22:59Can he stay to the inside of turn four?
23:02No, side-by-side for second now with Larson.
23:04More contact.
23:05Larson around the outside.
23:07Going to throttle up, take the spot away.
23:09Talk about young drivers getting a gun.
23:11Celebrating Zane Smith.
23:13They've had unbelievable speed.
23:15Last two weeks didn't get the payoff.
23:17Not known as a road racer.
23:19Comes here to one of the most difficult places on the streets of Naval Base Coronado.
23:24And driver 38 is on point with Larson behind him.
23:27It's hard to tell just with the movement of all the shots, as quick as this track is.
23:31But that seven of Suarez, red, white, and blue with the bright blue hood.
23:35There seems to be a lot of gap around those vents right there on the right front.
23:38So in that wreck or somewhere, he has dislodged the hood.
23:41That will hurt.
23:42Cooling and performance.
23:43We'll see if it hurts the seven.
23:44There's a good shot at it.
23:45You can see on the left side of that hood.
23:48Look at Hosobar.
23:50Aggressive in the 77.
23:52Racing Tyler Reddick in the 45.
23:54Reddick won earlier this year on the road at Circuit of the Americas.
23:57Had to start in the back today.
23:59And trying to make something happen came in the championship leader.
24:09Preece right in front of the 24 of Byron, last on pit road at lap 30,
24:13kind of leading those who had pitted at lap 30.
24:15The group all in front of him on a little bit of an alternate strategy.
24:20Seen a lot of speed out of 23-11 as far as Herbst and Bubba Wallace,
24:25but not so much out of Reddick.
24:27And now he's up in the top 10.
24:28It'll be interesting to see if that pace is in that 45 car as well.
24:33St. Smith continues to lead.
24:35If I was front row in Motorsports, I'd be printing an extension.
24:39Try to get that guy locked into this team long term.
24:42He is helping this program get better and better every single week.
24:46Making gains and racing up front.
24:51This is his teammate right there, Todd Gillen, that bright green 34.
24:56Todd's having a good weekend.
24:58Yeah, good speed and practice, great speed and qualifying,
25:00running 17th at the moment.
25:03Stage point, stage one, finished sixth in that first run of the race.
25:09AJ hard into the braking zone.
25:12Back into that 16 car sliding around.
25:14Little contact right there with Busher, squeezes him a little bit on exit.
25:17Two really good road racers.
25:19Boy, AJ, man, he is a bulldog.
25:21Yes, he is.
25:22And he hinted this week, he'll be back.
25:24Arriving full-time next year.
25:26What do y'all think I'm going to do?
25:27Are you kidding me? Of course I am.
25:29Contact there with 17.
25:32AJ accelerates away.
25:35Tour turn five.
25:45Big up right here, exiting turn five.
25:47He dropped down in a drainage trough that goes across the racetrack.
25:52Reddick!
25:53Oh, Reddick almost lost the back.
25:55Oh, man, we've seen so many cars spin and wrecked doing that in the braking zone.
26:00He slides the back of the car, gets it under control.
26:02Great job by the 7 of Suarez to anticipate that, right?
26:06Oh, man, those guys are so close to running over each other.
26:10Look at Priest.
26:10I'm just going to take what I need here.
26:12I'm coming across the racetrack.
26:15You said all the dingers of Bulldog.
26:17I think Priest, same mentality, right?
26:20Cut from the same cloth for sure.
26:22Modified guy, making it at NASCAR's top level.
26:26We're right on board.
26:27Watch all this with Tyler.
26:29So he drives down in there, oh, jumps, little bumps through the braking zone of six,
26:35slides the back.
26:36All boats to crash.
26:38Great job by all these guys.
26:44You talked about the cycle for Priest, Steve, where he is in regard to when they last pitted,
26:50leading that group, and by a long shot, next guy on his strategy pretty far back behind him.
26:55So he's got a lot of breathing room here to manage.
26:57Yeah, we're closing in only a few laps away from decision time for Zane Smith, Larson,
27:01Herbst, Logano, Heim.
27:03You know, your gut would say pit before the end of the stage.
27:06Cycle yourself to the front through the pit cycle.
27:09We'll see what all the leaders do, and what does Priest do?
27:11We might see a little bit of a glimpse to his strategy.
27:14Does Priest think he can connect from lap 30 to the end of this race on only one more stop?
27:18I think time will tell.
27:20Probably about two or three laps from here.
27:21We're going to get all those answers from the leaders.
27:27Zane Smith now leading laps for the third time in the last five races.
27:33We expected it at Michigan, you know, a couple of weeks ago.
27:37We knew he would perform it well and have speed there, and he did.
27:39He got stage points and had that tire issue, didn't work out for him, got spun out last week.
27:44But he's also doing it at tracks where he hasn't always enjoyed success.
27:49It speaks to what we were talking about, the value that he brings and the importance of locking him up
27:54a long time.
27:54Let's go down and get a word with Kim Coon.
27:56Yeah, and Adam, crew chief Brian Mergenti had discussed with his team about flipping this stage.
28:01Right now, though, he's telling his spotter, look for Rex, look for Rex.
28:04The opportunity to dive into pit road before a caution comes out if we see further incidents before they were
28:10willing to flip the stage.
28:12Trevor?
28:12Yeah, Kim.
28:13Over the last couple of years, I've had the pleasure of working closely with Corey Heim and his preparation for
28:17these races.
28:18And the thing that has stood out to me about Corey Heim is how analytical he is, how composed he
28:23is.
28:23You can see the maturity.
28:24This is his first start in a next-gen car at a road course running inside the top five.
28:28But Corey's no stranger to road courses.
28:30He won all four of the road races in the Truck Series last season, guys.
28:36He's another driver.
28:37If you've never heard the name, you're going to hear it a lot.
28:40At 23 years old, he's going to be full-time next year in fast equipment.
28:45I'm not sure there's a train, you know, we expect him to kind of splash onto the scene and be
28:49competitive right away.
28:51Could see some pit stops soon.
28:53Coming to four laps to go, stage two.
28:56Zane Smith leads Larson.
28:58Herbst, Heim, and Logano.
29:07We must be the great arsenal of democracy.
29:10We will pay any price.
29:13Support any friend.
29:15They go down.
29:16Oppose any foe.
29:18To ensure the survival and success of liberty.
29:21We maintain our strength in order to deter and defend against aggression.
29:27But make no mistake, when pushed, we'll do what it takes to win.
29:35Jack Link's presents.
29:44There's nothing like a great duo.
29:46Two flavors, one bag.
29:48Jack Link's Duos.
29:52At Burger King, you tell us what goes on the menu.
29:55We want to know what you want.
29:57I want all the jalapenos on my Whopper.
29:59Three layers of juicy, creamy, crunchy jalapeno.
30:02Try the loaded jalapeno Whopper today.
30:04Get around.
30:05Run ultra fast.
30:07You need an advanced dynamic system.
30:10Now, the Denvix Motor X tire inflator has one.
30:14It shatters industry stereotypes.
30:17As portable as the small, as powerful as the large.
30:21But that's not all.
30:23A leading power bank.
30:27A powerful life beyond your imagination.
30:31Denvix Motor X redefines your journey.
30:35Do parents cover kids' eyes to protect them?
30:38Uh-oh.
30:39That's a scary part.
30:40Or to secretly steal their Reese's?
30:43It doesn't sound scary.
30:45Super scary.
30:47Perhaps moms know everything happens for a Reese's.
30:50America, baby!
30:57Man, this is what dreams are made of.
31:06The WNBA is on Prime.
31:10Thursday night.
31:11It's a can't-miss match-up.
31:14Kelsey Plum and the L.A. Sparks.
31:18Face Marina Mavry in the Toronto Tempo.
31:21Long range.
31:23Oh!
31:24Get ready for non-stop action.
31:27She's gonna let you know.
31:28Sparks.
31:29Tempo.
31:29Fires a three and switch.
31:31Thursday, starting at 6.30 p.m. Eastern.
31:34It's on Prime.
31:37Nastron Prime.
31:39Back live in San Diego.
31:42Pit road is gonna be busy here.
31:44As drivers flip stage to Zane Smith among those coming in.
31:48That's right, Adam.
31:49We talked exactly about this move by crew chief Ryan Bergenti.
31:52Not a lot of feedback in terms of the car.
31:54Seems to be good for Zane.
31:55He did say the concrete is the toughest part for him on the racetrack.
31:58Trevor.
31:59Yeah, 67 at 40.
32:00I'm hitting pit road as well.
32:02Getting some poor fresh good years to take advantage of.
32:05They're holding, though, on the right side as they're having issues.
32:07Now they're gonna take off.
32:09I think he was waiting to get the 43 around him, maybe, and letting the crews come out.
32:13Saw William Byron in, riding here with Tyler Reddick, who had spun around.
32:18Now he makes his pit stop as he comes to pit road.
32:21Here's the 45 going around.
32:23Boy, that was tight.
32:24And look who was the first car to dodge him.
32:28Denny Hamlin, the two that are 1-2 in the championship chase.
32:32He was ninth when he went around.
32:33Just looks like he got loose right here.
32:38Oh, he feels it starting to slide.
32:40He tries to throttle up to try to save it.
32:43Frisco was right behind him, but it looks like he just spun out.
32:47Losing the rear grip in them tires.
32:50Any advantage that he might have had to be able to get some stage points or just trying to hold
32:54serve on Denny Hamlin.
32:55He's lost that.
32:56Here's the four car spinning out in turn four.
32:59I think he's had big contact with the wall.
33:01Look at that.
33:02Oh, right front.
33:03My toe link, front damage, steering's off.
33:06You're right, steering's off.
33:09Noah was doing a pretty solid job there in the middle of a pack before that spin.
33:14They're going to be very careful tiptoeing by him because there's a lot of spots like this that are just
33:19blind for drivers.
33:22And the steering of the next jam where the toe links are broke or been is quite unpredictable.
33:28He's got a long way to go to getting back around.
33:30We've got a replay here.
33:33Hopefully.
33:33All right, let's see.
33:35Oh, a little contact with the 91.
33:38Magnussen possibly gets into the right rear quarter panel.
33:42Kevin Magnussen making his cup debut.
33:44So best look we got to that one, but I think there was some contact there just racing hard.
33:51So he's got a long way to go to get back around.
33:53I mean, just halfway through the course here at turn eight.
33:56Yeah.
33:57Five car Larson on the pit road.
33:58Yeah, going to close pit road with two to go.
34:00He's the race leader.
34:02He had gotten by Zane Smith in that last side-by-side we had.
34:05And here's the five car with his scheduled green flag pit stop, Marty.
34:08Yeah, the advantage of being the race leader, Adam, you can come here with two to go.
34:12Cliff Daniels and Kyle Larson have certainly made this five car much better throughout the day.
34:16And Cliff Daniels told Larson, he said, hey, listen, there will be those cars that did not, will not pit,
34:22that pitted at lap 30.
34:23We're going to have to sit here and watch.
34:25And look who's on top of the five pit box.
34:28Patrick Mahomes hanging out with the five team today.
34:31You know, Larson's on a winless streak here.
34:33So if he wins today and Mahomes is at the track, he's going to be like, you know, just come
34:40up to Northern California last week.
34:42Keep me on this hot streak.
34:44It's got to get cold in Kansas City later this year.
34:46Just enjoy the California sun while you can over the next week.
34:57As we see all this, Ryan Priest is closed in just two seconds back of Riley Herbst.
35:08Herbst has done an awesome job today.
35:11Driving through the field and keeping his track position and giving himself a shot to win this race.
35:18Also, Hosuhar starting on the front row, sitting there in third place right now.
35:23And what a big day for Priest when you talk about stage points.
35:27Second in stage one, riding second now in stage two, closing in on Riley Herbst.
35:33He needs points.
35:34And boy, they're putting it together and pretty good place in regard to strategy, Steve.
35:38Yeah, huge tire advantage, 10 laps.
35:40He closed down over a second and a half on this lap alone.
35:43This is going to be nearly impossible for Herbst to hold off Priest.
35:47This might be one of those situations where as much as Herbst wants to lead, maybe let Priest go.
35:53Big gap next to the Allmendinger, who's the next car back.
35:57Here comes a 60.
35:58A big run here.
35:59He's going to get in the braking zone.
36:00Herbst smartly lets him go by.
36:02That's what you've got to do there in that situation, Steve.
36:05You kind of understand what you're racing, who you're racing.
36:10Now, if you're Priest and you want to run these tires long, you want to just stay right on the
36:14front bumper of the 35.
36:15You don't need to drive off and win the stage by a second.
36:18Final lap of the stage here.
36:203.4 miles around for Ryan Priest, who's looking to pick up his third career stage victory on the road.
36:27Savar struggling just a little bit here in his final couple of laps.
36:29He lost the spot to the 17 just there.
36:33Now Blaney to the inside, who's been driving up through the field fast all day long in this 12 car.
36:39Possibly a guy who sees himself as the one to take the win today.
36:44Good pace in this 12.
36:46We know one boater out in the bay for Blaney.
36:51One stage one, top five here in stage two.
36:55Good points day for him.
36:57As I said it earlier, they haven't gotten a ton of stage points,
37:00despite the fact they're top five in the standings, but enjoying a really good afternoon here.
37:06A lot of race cars right here battling for spots.
37:09Alex Bowman at the very back.
37:12Trying to look around the three of Austin Dillon.
37:15Eighth to 13th is what I was trying to figure out the position of this group.
37:19Eighth to 13th is what you're seeing right here.
37:21So, stage points are available if you're the front of this group.
37:25You know, Chase Elliott back behind him, inside the top 15.
37:29Hasn't been a great weekend for him, but they're just hanging in, hanging in,
37:33and trying to get to that final stage when maybe you can pounce.
37:38Yeah, Chase's car just doesn't look happy.
37:40He missed turn six there off the corner of the screen.
37:43The 22, the 34, swapping spots right there.
37:48Look at Austin Dillon kind of back in the mix.
37:51Remember, his car was spun around and had an issue earlier in the race.
37:55Well, I said it.
37:56I mean, his only top ten of the year came at Watkins Glen in our last road course event.
38:00So, this team has found some speed in this racing configuration.
38:03Obviously, before the crash, Austin Hill was doing a nice job.
38:11Turn 12 portion of the track over to turn 13, 14, and 15.
38:17Now, back to the chicane for our race leader, Ryan Preece.
38:25Came in 19th in the standings.
38:2833 below the chase cut line.
38:3219 stage points today.
38:34Second stage victory of the campaign for Preece.
38:38Herbst is second.
38:40That was tight there for third.
38:42Busher gets Allmendinger.
38:44Blaney ends up in the top five.
38:45Good stage points for Josemar and his teammate Suarez.
38:49Chastain, a top ten run.
38:52Gilliland and Logano wrap up the top ten in stage number two.
38:57And the highlight of this second stage, the crash on a restart
39:00that took out many.
39:02Among them, the pre-race favorite, Shane Van Gisbergen.
39:11Nastron Prime is brought to you by
39:14Pala Casino Spa and Golf Resort.
39:20Chevrolet, together, let's drive.
39:23And by BuildSubmarines.com.
39:27Explore thousands of open roles building the U.S. Navy's submarines.
39:37Two stages down, Naval Base Coronado.
39:40Ryan Preece wins the second stint of the race.
39:43Herbst enjoying a good day.
39:44Two from RFK in the top three.
39:48Blaney, a nice outing.
39:49Getting a bunch of stage points.
39:51Had a stage victory earlier.
39:54This will be another intersection in the road.
39:56Preece, Buescher, Allmendinger, Blaney.
39:59I skipped Herbst because I'm confident he needs to pit.
40:02So doesn't Josemar and Suarez.
40:03But who else thinks they need to jump to the other strategy?
40:07Unfortunately, switching at this point is going to put you behind eight or ten cars
40:10that pitted under green.
40:13And with only 35 laps to go in the race, nobody can make it from here to the finish.
40:18I know we've talked a lot about tires.
40:20Let's talk about fuel.
40:21You can run 22, 23-ish laps on fuel is what we expect.
40:25I don't think we completely know.
40:26There we go, Herbst.
40:28There you go, Allmendinger is a little bit of a surprise.
40:31He was one of those lap 30 cars.
40:32So they feel that the best strategy is to get some new tires here.
40:36Trevor, some cars coming in front of you.
40:38Riley Herbst there coming down pit road.
40:40He is the only car that has two sets laying in the pit still.
40:44Steve, I know you like that.
40:45He's coming down, going to get four tires now and get some adjustments on this 35.
40:49Pretty happy with his car so far, though, Marty.
40:52Carson, host of our middle of your screen, said the track's certainly changing quite a bit there in stage two.
40:57He said, I felt like I hurt the right rear maybe more than I did earlier in the race on
41:02that run.
41:02Meanwhile, Daniel Suarez on pit road.
41:04We're trying to backflow some oneness damage.
41:07But that damage, Steve, has also caused a little bit of an engine issue for Daniel Suarez,
41:12which they have told him, we cannot fix it here.
41:15You'll just have to finish out the race with it.
41:17I'm assuming, you know, with that dislodge, remember, these engines are fueled by the air that comes in the nose
41:23and ducted up.
41:24So maybe something else is broken loose in there, starving the engine and a little bit of that fresh air.
41:28The game of leapfrog continues.
41:31Twenty-three drivers stay out.
41:33So you pit here.
41:34You lose some track position, but maybe open some doors down the road.
41:40Priest will take over the race lead.
41:44Let's go down to Danielle.
41:46Here on the flight deck, Adam of the USS Carl Vincent, Danielle Trotta, Corey LaJoy, the F-18 behind us.
41:53It was Ryan Priest with the fighting power to win stage two.
41:56He stays out, so he'll inherit the lead.
41:58And, Corey, I feel like it's a whole new ballgame now that SVG, unfortunately, wrecked out.
42:03We saw there a little while ago.
42:05So who do you like as we enter the final stage?
42:07Well, now the rabbit's not out in front for everybody to chase anymore.
42:10Who are you pacing your tires off of?
42:12It looks like RFK.
42:13They had the work done.
42:15The hay was in the barn by the time I got here because clearly the 60 and the 17 are
42:19strong.
42:20It looks like the 17 is good.
42:21But I've got to give a little bit of a look over to A. John Mendinger because when he sniffs
42:25the front in the road courses,
42:26he usually can take control, so it's nice to see him up front.
42:29I just can't believe we're standing here in front of this F-18 on this ship.
42:33It's so cool, all the history of this ship's been involved with.
42:36They launched this thing, Danielle, from here and off the runway.
42:41It's only like 100 feet.
42:42It's bizarre.
42:43100, 0 to 150 miles per hour in two seconds.
42:47I just want to throw this out there, Adam.
42:50Blaney wins stage one.
42:51Priest wins stage two.
42:54Ford is starting to become a story.
42:55We haven't seen them win a cup series race.
42:57You've got to go all the way back 13 races ago to Phoenix with Blaney.
43:01We'll see what happens here on the way out.
43:03It's just exactly what we all expected, Danielle, right?
43:06I mean, this is how we drew it up.
43:08We knew it would be Blaney and Priest at the front.
43:11A little bit unpredictable here today.
43:13And with Shane Van Gisberg and out, it's anybody's guess where we go from here.
43:18Now we head over to Pitt Road to see who is racing with optimism for our San Diego race spotlight.
43:24Kim?
43:25Well, Adam, it's been amazing to meet the military personnel this weekend,
43:28from sailors to members of the elite SEAL teams.
43:31But we've got a former SEAL on Pitt Road every week.
43:34Damian Jackson, Jackman for Riley Herbst.
43:37After six years spent in the Navy, Jackson was a walk-on for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
43:41Then he dipped his toe into pro football in that world for a bit.
43:45Then decided to try his hand at NASCAR, despite it being a very foreign sport to him.
43:50And he took a calculated approach to learning the sport and studying it,
43:54his work ethic shaped by his time spent as a Navy SEAL.
43:58And Pitt Crew coach John Carvin saying,
44:00you can't be around him and not raise your game.
44:03You have to in order to keep up with what he is, what he does.
44:07The level of excellence is so high with him.
44:11Yeah, it's amazing, Pitt Road, the transition of a – it's been coming for decades.
44:16But in the last handful of years, now it's visual.
44:20You know, the crew members, you don't need them in fire suits.
44:22When they get off the airplanes, you can – mechanic, Pitt Crew member.
44:26I mean, these guys are obvious.
44:28They are tremendous athletes.
44:29They're just their physical stature.
44:31Look at that gentleman right there.
44:33There's just no way that guy would stand out in a crowd.
44:37Speaking of a crowd, look at the group we have up here on deck.
44:41Let's get a quick Pitt Road sweep before we go green.
44:44Final stage, start with Marty Snyder.
44:46Boy, Adam, you called it a critical 19 stage points for Ryan Preece and Derek Finley,
44:51his crew chief, checked in with both of those RFK cars running 1-2 right now.
44:57And they do – Steve kind of surmised it, Trevor –
45:00they do think they can connect when they stopped at lap 30
45:03to the one more stop to the end of the race.
45:05So they want to make that with, like, 23 to go if they can.
45:09Not sure they can stretch it, but they can pit from 25 to go and make it to the end,
45:13they think.
45:14Marty, one of those cars that was challenging SBG early on
45:17and went up and took the lead, set the pace, was Ryan Blaney in that 12 Ford.
45:21He was super strong, disappeared for a little while on differing strategy from others,
45:25but now he finds his way back to the front.
45:27Now that those track house, Red Bull, Chevrolays are out of this race,
45:30if you're looking for a favorite, Ryan Blaney might be a good one.
45:35I want to talk about RFK and Penske, a tale of two teams in the Ford camp.
45:42The Ford has struggled this year.
45:44RFK, though, they're plus 177 in laps led this year, a bit of an uptick over last year.
45:50Team Penske down 450 laps comparable to last year in laps led.
45:57And we've wondered.
45:58We talked about the Toyotas having the advantage and the Chevrolays catching them.
46:01We haven't talked about the Fords.
46:02We haven't had much to say about the Fords.
46:04But today they're poised to come away with a victory in a big, huge event.
46:08We saw that big accident.
46:10That was in stage two.
46:12In this final stage, these positions, I think,
46:14are just going to be contested more and more in these starts.
46:18An eventful stage one and stage two.
46:20And now the final run of the day.
46:23Going to be 33 laps to go when we go green.
46:26Pries and Buescher, front row at Naval Base Coronado.
46:31Will the teammates sort it out through turn one?
46:34Oh, a little contact.
46:37Yeah, Gilliland, a shove there on Pries.
46:4060 gets away.
46:42That's a tough enough corner.
46:44You don't need any help getting into that one.
46:45The five around the outside into turn one.
46:49Trying to get positions.
46:50I think he's going to get a couple with those fresher tires.
46:52Josh Berry around behind.
46:54Contact.
46:55On the right front.
46:5741 of Cole Custer making contact with Josh Berry.
47:00Big damage to the 21.
47:03Huge damage to the 21.
47:04Goodness.
47:05Learned this week, Jesse Love, reigning champ in the O'Reilly Series,
47:08will go in that car full-time next year.
47:11He's riding 15th.
47:12The battle back continues for Bubba Wallace after being down two laps earlier.
47:18Side-by-side right here.
47:20Blaney.
47:22Gilliland.
47:24The 19 of Brisco.
47:26We haven't talked about him much, but he's pretty solid on the road courses in this 19 car.
47:31Oh, Blaney and Gilliland fighting and arguing.
47:35That was awesome.
47:36What is it you always say?
47:38It's like a bar fight breaks out on track.
47:40We're starting to see some of that here.
47:42Blaney up to third.
47:44We've got to see that one again.
47:48Look at the top left of the screen.
47:50The five around the outside.
47:51They all stacked down in.
47:53Now, right dead in the middle of the corner.
47:55Bang.
47:55Contact between the 41 and the 21 who then connect again.
47:59That was the damage.
48:02Oh, this would be a good look.
48:0321 straight ahead.
48:07Whitetail.
48:12Wow.
48:13I mean, contact.
48:14That four-wide funnel into turn two is a dangerous game to play.
48:21Kind of sorted it all out now.
48:23Now you just settle in.
48:2533 laps to go.
48:26You know a pit stop's coming.
48:27As I say that, I thought Pyron and the three were going to make contact.
48:31This shot's great.
48:32It shows how much the back of the cars really do move around in this high-speed section.
48:40Chris Buescher looking good in this race.
48:43In front of his teammate, Ryan Preece.
48:47Blaney there in the third spot.
48:49Gilliland fourth.
48:50Top four all Fords.
48:55First car on the fresher tires.
48:57Larson in sixth.
48:58Zane Smith will not go away in seventh.
49:02Caution is out.
49:04Sixth of the day.
49:05For debris.
49:06A little bit of debris somewhere on the racetrack.
49:08Imagining right there.
49:10From the 21 and the 40.
49:1341 contact.
49:14It was 100 different cars that could have fallen off.
49:17I mean, that 21 car had way more damage than I initially thought.
49:20I was surprised as well.
49:21So I imagine that Cole Custer also has quite a bit of damage to the front of his car.
49:26A little bit of an argument right there between, I believe, the 22 and maybe the 45.
49:32One of the Monster Energy cars.
49:36And I think what we saw in that restart is just going to continue.
49:39We have a caution here, so we'll have another restart.
49:42The restarts into turn two are just going to get uglier and uglier.
49:45Or exciting, however you want to look at it.
49:47That's if your driver comes out of the corner okay or not.
49:52Just parts and pieces all the way around.
49:56Product of restarts, damaged race cars.
50:00The physicality and aggression that starts to come with being in the final stage.
50:06And if we continue to get these yellows, you know, who's going to gamble?
50:11If you can go 25 laps under green, that means, you know, you basically get every caution lap.
50:17You know, it's three for one.
50:18So three caution laps only burns as much fuel as one green flag lap.
50:22You can extend that window way out.
50:23Now, we're still at 32 to go.
50:25But, you know, to the gambler comes a reward.
50:28Like, who does something different?
50:30You look at the running order.
50:32Hamlin, you've been talking about this Hamlin-Reddick battle and the points.
50:35Hamlin all the way up to 12th.
50:38Doing a really good job.
50:40Reddick only two spots behind him in 14th.
50:42Neither have scored stage points.
50:44So in my mind, that has to be win to Hamlin.
50:46I thought he came here thinking he was going to lose some points.
50:49Yeah, I think Hamlin, too, has been riding around.
50:51We talk about how Daytona and Talladega, back of the day, guys would ride at the back of the field
50:56and wait for the big crash and only go at the end when they thought they needed to.
50:59And you wouldn't imagine that kind of a strategy would be deployed at a place like this.
51:04But I think that's what Denny Hamlin did.
51:06He said, hey, I'm going to let everybody run hard in stage one and two.
51:09I'm going to sit back here.
51:11I'm not going to go up there and get stage points.
51:13I don't believe in our pace or my pace to go up there and finish top ten in these stages.
51:17So I'm going to sit here and let the carnage play out and come out of here with a really
51:21solid result.
51:22And he's sitting there watching Reddick trip up here and there, right?
51:25Spun out in qualifying.
51:27He's been around backwards in this race a few times.
51:29They had to repair the splitter and go to the back of the field.
51:33So this is panning out to be a pretty solid play by Denny Hamlin.
51:39On a three-race win streak for the first time in his career.
51:44Aerial coverage brought to you by Goodyear, born on the track, built for the street.
51:53We talk so much about the buzz with all the sailors here at Naval Base Coronado.
51:58And, Steve, you referenced this, not just here on base, but if you're on the island out having dinner, just
52:05in the city.
52:06The buzz universally for NASCAR in Southern California right now, the city, the island.
52:12It has just been amazing to watch the fan interaction, participation, and the embracement of this event.
52:20Yeah, I mean, the sailors have been amazing.
52:22The fans, the fan zone yesterday was packed.
52:26There was a line around the merchandise building, around the corner, selling out of merchandise each and every day.
52:32It's really been shocking.
52:34I think we all knew it was going to be special.
52:36I don't think our dreams could have been this high.
52:39I think the atmosphere is what we, but the support, the fans that have come out, the military personnel,
52:44it's rare that you get to take part in something where everyone is just happy.
52:49And NASCAR is excited and happy to be here.
52:51I have yet to meet a sailor who's not just ecstatic that there's an event on their base, showcasing their
52:56base.
52:57And I'm proud of the drivers, what we've seen so far.
52:59They have put a really impressive race on, on a very difficult 3.4-mile circuit.
53:05Think about all the hardcore NASCAR fans that have been fans of this sport for decades,
53:09love seeing it coming to the West Coast.
53:13A lot of joy being felt here this weekend.
53:17And why not?
53:18It's Father's Day.
53:20It's America 250.
53:22And we're doing it in a gorgeous location.
53:25NASCAR back in Southern California this weekend, racing in Naval Base Coronado.
53:31We're happy you're long for the ride.
53:33It's NASCAR on Prime.
53:42Christopher David Bell, he's four years old.
53:45Now, what have you started?
53:49Go, Christopher, go!
53:52Woo!
53:54Oh, Christopher Bell has taken the lead.
53:56What a finish!
53:58He's done it again!
54:00Bell has driven to victory again.
54:03How about that?
54:04That check is for $1 million.
