Political outsider and lawyer Abelardo de la Espriella, nicknamed "El Tigre," has narrowly won Colombia’s presidential election. Backed by Donald Trump, the right-wing candidate secured 49.7% of the vote, defeating left-wing rival Iván Cepeda in a highly polarized runoff.
De la Espriella campaigned on a strict "law and order" platform, promising to scrap peace negotiations with illegal armed groups, launch a military crackdown on drug cartels, and build jungle mega-prisons. While supporters celebrated the shift toward security and economic freedom, Cepeda’s camp has demanded an audit of the voting software, and isolated post-election protests have already broken out.
