00:00White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt has blamed Democrats following what Republicans are
00:04calling a third assassination attempt against President Donald Trump after an armed man
00:08breached the perimeter of his Mar-a-Lago residence early Sunday morning. According to officials,
00:13a 21-year-old man identified as Austin Tucker Martin from North Carolina entered the secure
00:17perimeter of Trump's Mar-a-Lago property at around 1.30 a.m. while armed with a shotgun and a
00:23gas
00:23canister. Trump was not in Florida at the time and had spent the night at the White House in
00:27Washington, D.C. Authorities said the suspect was confronted by two Secret Service agents and a
00:32deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office who ordered him to drop his weapons.
00:37Sheriff Rick Bradshaw stated that the man put down the gas can but raised the shotgun into a shooting
00:41position, prompting officers to open fire and neutralize the threat at the scene. No law
00:46enforcement personnel were injured during the incident. Following the event, Caroline Leavitt
00:51issued a statement praising federal law enforcement for acting quickly and decisively to stop what she
00:55described as an armed intruder at the president's home. In the same statement, she blamed Democrats,
01:00referencing a recent government shutdown and its impact on federal law enforcement agencies,
01:05and called their actions shameful and reckless. Florida Congressman Brian Mast also described the
01:10incident as a third assassination attempt, saying that an individual approaching the president's
01:15residence with a firearm, a gas can, and potentially incendiary materials indicates an intent to
01:20conduct an attack against the president, his family, or associates. Investigators reported that the
01:25suspect had been missing from North Carolina for several days before traveling south and allegedly
01:30obtaining a shotgun along the way. A gun box was later recovered from his vehicle. Secret Service
01:35spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the man drove through the north gate of Mar-a-Lago as another vehicle
01:40was exiting before being confronted by agents. The incident follows earlier threats against the president,
01:45including a 2024 campaign rally shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, where the gunman Thomas Crooks was
01:50killed, and a separate attempt in Florida while Trump was golfing, in which Ryan Ruth was later
01:55sentenced to life in prison. Share your thoughts in the comments and do like for more updates.
