01:16Here is Miss Hooley to tell us that story
01:17But how does it all begin?
01:19Is it rainy, sunny, windy, cloudy, playing outside the rain?
01:23Is it still there to stay at home to play?
01:26Going to school or nursery?

01:34Tell us where we will go!
01:39Morning, Susie.
01:40Hello, Miss Hooley.
01:41So, what's the story in Bala Mori?
01:44Oh, it's a cold day.
01:46It's a cold day.
01:51Well, just you go through to the cafe
01:53And I'll bring you a nice hot cup of tea.
01:56Thanks.
01:59Hello.
02:00Hello.
02:01Hi there.
02:02Hello.
02:03Oh, hello.
02:05I'm Miss Hooley.
02:06Don't I know you?
02:08What's your name?
02:10Oh, of course.
02:15It's really cold outside today.
02:18There we go.
02:20It's nice getting the warm.
02:24That's better.
02:27Oh, would you look at that.
02:30Someone has left a dirty handprint on the tablecloth here.
02:35And what's this?
02:37I've got no idea what this is.
02:40I wonder if PC Plum will know what it is.
02:43He's coming along later to take me out somewhere.
02:46Because today it's a play day in Bala Mori.
02:49So I wonder what adventures we'll get up to.
03:00Strike up the band, strike up the band.
03:02There is no work today.
03:05Hang out the flags, pack up your bags.
03:08It's a play day.
03:09Hooray!
03:11We're gonna dance for a mile today.
03:13Run, jump, and walk for a smile today.
03:17Strike up the band, strike up the band.
03:20For a play day away.
03:23Jump on the bus, it's here for us.
03:25There is no work.
03:27Wahey!
03:28Get up, get out, it's a brand new day.
03:31Raining or shining, we don't care.
03:34We're out to play.
03:37Sail out on the blue.
03:40Climb a hill for a view.
03:43Run down to town, have a look around.
03:46We're here, there, everywhere.
03:48Look over here.
03:51Dance if you dare.
03:56Come to the fair.
04:02Come on, let's have a show today.
04:05Step out in style, give a smile for me.
04:08And shout hooray!
04:11Take a trip on a train.
04:14Fly up high in an aeroplane.
04:17Give each cloud a little name.
04:19Down to the ground, we'll run all around.
04:22We're here, there, everywhere.
04:24We're over here.
04:27It's a play day.
04:30Hooray!
04:35Oh!
04:38Sounds like there's somebody coming.
04:43That'll be PC Flum to take me on my day out.
04:50Oh, hello.
04:51Hello.
04:52Hello.
04:52Hello.
04:53Hiya.
04:53Hello.
04:54Oh, it's a cold one this morning, Miss Filly.
04:57So, how are you?
04:58I'm very much looking forward to our day out.
05:00Oh, do you remember the last one when we took the ferry to the mainland?
05:03Oh, and the sea was rough and the ferry rocked from side to side.
05:08Side to side, yes.
05:10Oh, and then you took me to the fair.
05:11Oh, the fair, yes.
05:12Oh, and we went on the rollercoaster and then we went up and up and up and up until, swoosh,
05:19right back down again.
05:20And your hat nearly fell off.
05:22And then we went up into the sky on the big wheel and then what did we do?
05:26Oh, the big wheel, yeah, of course, yeah.
05:28Oh, let's go to the fair again today.
05:31Or maybe you've got something else in mind, perhaps.
05:35PC Flum?
05:37Yes.
05:38Oh, I'm sorry.
05:39I was just wondering about this.
05:41Is it yours?
05:42No.
05:43Someone must have left it behind.
05:44Well, they've left a mysterious handprint as well.
05:48We'll never mind about that.
05:49They'll come back for their...
05:51their...
05:52whatever it is.
05:53Yes.
05:54If I know what this is, then I might be able to find out who it belongs to.
05:58Well, it looks like a piece of engine.
06:00Perhaps you're right.
06:02I'll pop over and see Edie.
06:03She knows everything about mechanical things.
06:06But what about her trip out?
06:08Oh, I'll not be long.
06:10I just need to find out what this is.
06:12Bye.
06:13Bye.
06:15Aww.
06:17So, which coloured house do you think PC Plum will visit first today?
06:28Can you see all the different coloured houses sitting by the sea?
06:34Well, this part of the story in Ballamore asks which is the house for me?
06:40Is it yellow?
06:41Is it red?
06:42Or should we go to the greenhouse instead?
06:46White, orange, blue or pink?
06:48Or which coloured house do you think?
06:52Yes.
06:53It's the blue house.
06:54I hope Edie's in.
07:02Howdy, plummy.
07:04Wow, Edie.
07:06You look very glamorous today.
07:08Oh, why thank you.
07:09Well, I'm just going over to the mainland to treat myself to a new hat.
07:14Great.
07:15But what's wrong with your old hat?
07:18Nothing.
07:18I just feel like a new one.
07:21Actually, I'm going to meet my friend Sandy.
07:24We're going to the Alexander Tea Rooms.
07:26They do the most wonderful shortbread there.
07:29Mmm, shortbread.
07:30Oh, you'd love my friend Sandy.
07:34She's an actor.
07:36An actor?
07:37Last time I saw her, she was in pantomime.
07:41Oh, no, she wasn't.
07:42Oh, yes, she was.
07:44Now, she's only in town for a short time.
07:48So, I can only see her for a wee piley.
07:50So, I've got to get a move on, plummy.
07:52Oh, but Edie, I have something to show you.
07:54Oh, look lively.
07:55Come on.
07:56Well, it's this.
07:58Someone left it in the cafe this morning.
08:00I need to know what it is,
08:01so I can return it to its rightful owner.
08:03Do you know what it is?
08:04Well, of course I do.
08:05Well, what is it then?
08:06Well, obviously, it's a...
08:10Erm...
08:11Well...
08:12You, you know...
08:15Er...
08:15Well, it looks like a...
08:20Erm...
08:22Hmm...
08:24Well...
08:24Must be...
08:25You know, come to think of it,
08:27I think I've got something in my box
08:29that looks just like it.
08:31Let me see...
08:34Erm...
08:35Oh, no.
08:36Oh, it looks like...
08:38I...
08:38I think...
08:39What?
08:40Oh, I don't know what it is.
08:42Oh...
08:42I'd better be on my way.
08:45Oh, look at the state of me!
08:47And I'm supposed to be meeting Miss Hooley.
08:49Oh, what will Sandy say?
08:52Oh, well, I'd better just give myself the Gothic look.
08:55I need some help for you to find out what this is.
08:58Well...
08:58There's one clever chap in Balamori who should know.
09:01Of course!
09:03Archie.
09:03I'll go and see Archie.
09:07I'm Archie, the inventor.
09:10I know how things are done.
09:13I can make absolutely anything.
09:16Inventing things is fun.
09:18I'm always on the lookout
09:20for things that I might use.
09:23Collecting odds and ends from all of my friends
09:26to make a little treat for you.
09:34Take a box and some yoghurt pop tops.
09:37Hey, it's a car.
09:39Inventing with Archie is never a bore.
09:42Come on, let's make some more.
09:45Build a rocket from a squidgy bottle
09:47and stick on bits of junk.
09:50Here's a crazy clip-clop puppet
09:52dance and do the honky-tonk.
10:00I'm Archie, the inventor.
10:03I know how things are done.
10:06I can make absolutely anything.
10:09Inventing things is fun.
10:11I'm always on the lookout
10:14for things that I might use.
10:17Collecting odds and ends from all of my friends
10:19to make a little treat for you.
10:22If you need something made
10:23and don't know what to do
10:25then Archie is the one for you.
10:27Call Archie and I'll help you through.
10:30Call Archie and I'll help you through.
10:38Hello, Archie.
10:39Morning, plumbers.
10:40Oh, it's cold out there
10:41but it's not much warmer in here.
10:43Yes, that's the problem with castles.
10:45Drafts from all directions.
10:47Still, I've come up with an invention
10:49to help us get warm.
10:50Oh, what is it?
10:51This.
10:52A ball?
10:54It might look like a ball to the simple untrained eye plumbers
10:57but it's actually Archie's body heat generating device.
11:00How does it work?
11:02Like this.
11:03Put the ball over there.
11:05Then you go and pick it up.
11:06Turn it over here again.
11:08Pick it up again.
11:09Helps to warm up your body.
11:12It's working quite quickly actually.
11:13You have a go.
11:14Oh.
11:15Oh, never mind about this Archie.
11:17I was hoping that you would help me solve a mystery.
11:19Good stuff.
11:22So, what's the story in Balamore?
11:24Well, it all started when I went to visit Miss Hooley in the cafe.
11:30I went to meet her because I was going to take her out to the mainland for the day.
11:34But when I arrived at the cafe, I found a mysterious hand print and a very unusual object.
11:40It looked a bit mechanical, so I decided to call on Edie.
11:44Edie had a good look at the object, but she didn't know what it was either.
11:49If I find out what it is, then I can find out who it belongs to.
11:52I was hoping you'd know what it was, Archie.
11:55Hmm.
11:59Well, er...
12:00I don't know what it is.
12:02Oh dear.
12:03But I do know how we can find out just exactly what it is.
12:07Great. How?
12:08With my mystery object filing system.
12:11Or MOFs, for short.
12:14Now...
12:16You take this one.
12:18Oh.
12:19Open it up.
12:21Now then, er...
12:22What do you think this is?
12:24Oh, that's a flying saucer.
12:25Or a plate.
12:27Let's see.
12:29Er...
12:30Ah!
12:31It's an alloy wheel.
12:33From a car.
12:34Oh yes, so it is.
12:35Right then, er...
12:36What about this one?
12:38Oh, that's a wheel.
12:40Yes.
12:41Oh, let's see.
12:43Ah.
12:44It's a cotton wheel.
12:46From the top of a sewing machine.
12:49What about this one?
12:51It's a chimney.
12:52Or a funnel.
12:54That's the funnel from the top of the Ballamory Ferry.
12:56Yes, it's a funnel.
12:58Right then.
12:59What about this?
13:03Er...
13:04Sort of those.
13:07Sort of these.
13:10Aha.
13:12Right.
13:16Aha.
13:18Your mystery object is part of a steam tractor.
13:22Oh.
13:23Mystery solved.
13:25So now we know.
13:26All thanks to your mystery object filing system.
13:29Well, we know that it's part of a steam tractor, but we don't know what it does.
13:34And more importantly, we don't know who it belongs to.
13:37It must belong to someone who has a steam tractor.
13:40Show me the picture, over.
13:41Right.
13:42It has two big wheels at the back and two smaller wheels at the front.
13:46And a big funnel here.
13:48A tall funnel with steam coming out of it.
13:50Well, there can't be many of those about.
13:53No, plumbers.
13:54I reckon you'll track one down in no time.
13:55You're right.
13:56Thank you, Archie.
14:08I've done it, Miss Hooley.
14:09I've discovered what this is.
14:11I've discovered that we've missed our ferry and won't be able to have our day out at the fair.
14:15I'd say that's not fair, PC Plum.
14:17No, I think if we find the owner of this, we'll have much more fun.
14:22Here, now, hurry up.
14:24Come on.
14:27Bye.
14:28Bye.
14:29Bye.
15:04Hello, Isabelle.
15:05Hello, William.
15:06Now, have you seen something with two big wheels at the back and two small wheels at the front?
15:12Something with a tall funnel at the front?
15:14A tall funnel with smoke coming out of it?
15:20Thanks, Isabelle.
15:21Thanks, William.
15:23Wow.
15:24This is fantastic.
15:26Hello, Roger.
15:27This must be yours.
15:28You left it in the cafe.
15:29Oh, yes, it is.
15:31Thank you very much.
15:38That's better.
15:39Would you like a wee spin on the engine?
15:41Oh, yes, please.
15:43First of all, you'll have to stoke the fire.
15:45Oh, lead the way.
15:52Oh, that was loud.
15:55Sorry.
15:57You.
15:59Oh, that was loud.
16:44Thanks, Roger.
16:44That was great.
16:45My pleasure, PC Plum.
16:47Whenever you take me out for a day, PC Plum, it's always a surprise.
16:51I've had a lovely day.
16:53Oh.
17:08So, what was the story in Balamori today?
17:15Well, it all started when PC Plum came to visit me at the cafe this morning.
17:19He was going to take me out to the mainland for the day.
17:23But when he saw a mysterious handprint and a very unusual object, PC Plum knew he had
17:29to return the object to its rightful owner.
17:32But he didn't know what the object was.
17:36And neither did Edie McCready.
17:40PC Plum thought Archie might know what the mystery object was.
17:44Archie used his object filing system to find out what it was.
17:49It was part of a steam tractor.
17:53I went looking for the steam tractor with PC Plum.
17:57And when we found the steam tractor, we discovered that the mystery object was a lever from the
18:03front of the engine.
18:05The steam tractor was a beautiful machine and we had fun making the whistle go.
18:11I'll see you soon.
18:12Bye.
18:13Bye.
18:13Bye.
18:14Bye.
18:26Bye.
