00:00US President Donald Trump doubled down on Saturday on comments made regarding Italian Prime Minister
00:06Georgia Maloney, insisting she had asked him over and over for a photo during the G7 summit
00:12in France earlier this week. It comes after Trump told an Italian journalist that Maloney
00:18supposedly begged him to take a picture with her, to which Maloney hit back in a video
00:22posted to social media.
00:42On Saturday, Maloney called Trump's repeated attacks senseless as the two took jabs at each
00:48other's popularity. Trump accused Maloney of trying to repair relations with Washington for
00:53domestic political reasons after Italy failed to support US action against Iran. The feud
00:59is notable because Maloney had invested heavily in personal diplomacy with Trump and was seen
01:04as one of his most natural partners in Europe.
