00:03Hello and welcome to Euronews' fact-checking show, The Cube.
00:07A raft of misleading statements and videos has appeared on social media in the wake of the G7 summit in
00:14Evian, France.
00:15Many of them centre on US President Donald Trump's interactions with European leaders and what they've said about him.
00:22According to one post, Trump allegedly said at the summit that Europe has gone woke and that it's not recognisable
00:28in many places.
00:29The post shares a clip of the President indeed saying those things.
00:32But you can tell that he did not say them at the G7 because of the White House signage in
00:37the background.
00:38The clip actually comes from a press conference he gave in February.
00:42Other social media users mock Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky,
00:46sharing clips which they say show Trump snubbing and turning his back to him.
00:50While one video does seemingly show Trump turning around to greet European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as Zelensky
00:57approaches,
00:57it's a far cry to suggest that he deliberately ignored him.
01:01The pair met at least once on the sidelines of the summit earlier this week,
01:05with Trump labelling it a good meeting and calling for Russia to make a deal with Ukraine to end its
01:10invasion of the country.
01:12Yet another claim circulating online alleges that French President Emmanuel Macron said that it's not the Americans or Trump who
01:18decide France's future,
01:20nor do they decide French or European law.
01:22This is somewhat true but strips the statement of context.
01:26Macron gave an interview to TF1 at the G7 summit,
01:30with the French news outlet asking him whether he would give in to Trump's demands to scrap a digital services
01:35tax on global tech giants.
01:37Macron said that it didn't work like that and that the digital tax was a law decided and implemented by
01:43several European countries.
01:44He did indeed say that the US does not decide French or European law but did not single out Trump
01:50specifically.
